How to unlock the All-round magician achievement in Tricky Towers - Definitive Guide
The recommended way is to do this with a 2nd controller in a local versus mode but can be also done in online multiplayer. The most difficult one to get is the "golden spell book" which is very rare and can only be achieved in a normal race, but you can somewhat increase your chances by falling behind and avoiding to use any other magic while the other player's tower grows closer to the finish line. This can take many matches to unlock.
Here's the list of all the spells:
White magic spells:
- Heart - Restores a life. This one is exclusive to Survival mode. You need to lose at least one life to get it.
- Isle - Places an isle in the air. There are two different isles depending on if you play Survival or Race mode. For the sake of this trophy, you only have to activate one of them, it doesn't matter which.
- Cement - Turns a single brick into concrete that remains immovable and can't fall.
- Multi cement - Places a few bricks of concrete on top of your tower that remain immovable and can't collapse. This one is exclusive to Race mode.
- Ivy - Ivy plants will tie up the nearby bricks once placed. All affected bricks will act as one physical unit.
- Lightning - Destroys the last placed brick.
Black magic spells:
- Speed-up - Speed up the falling bricks. This one is exclusive to Survival mode.
- Bushes - Plants will grow on top of the bricks to obstruct your view.
- Chains - You're unable to rotate chained bricks. This one is exclusive to Survival
- Auto rotate - The next brick will rotate by itself. The interval and direction of rotation is fix and can be anticipated.
- Balloon - A balloon will move upwards and slows down any bricks that touch it. This one is exclusive to Races.
- Ghosts - Ghosts will appear and pick up your last place brick attempting to throw it into the water. They'll drop it when you hit the brick with another brick. This one is exclusive to Survival.
- Bubble - The last placed brick will be caught in a bubble and move upwards. If you hit the bubble with another brick, the brick inside the bubble is released and will fall down.
- Weight - The next bricks increase in size considerably. They're roughly twice as high and twice as broad, their physical weight increases respectively.
- Frost - The next bricks are made of ice and will slide easily. This is especially notable at higher levels or in instable towers. It's best to try to stuck them into gaps or you'll risk a collapse.
- Fog - Topmost layer of your tower will have layers of fog blurring your vision. This one is exclusive to Survival.
- Question mark - The next brick will turn into a building/furniture, either the wind mill, the tower or the piano.
- Spell book - Random effect.
- Golden spell book - Multiple random effects.
There are 19 magic spells in the game. You have to use them all at least once to earn the trophy. Keep in mind that this trophy suffers a minor glitch and the golden spell book does only count if you obtain it in race mode.
All black magic must be activated in multiplayer on normal or special difficulty since only white magic is available in single player and easy difficulty multiplayer matches. There is no difference between normal and special difficulty in terms of how often certain spells appear.

The multi-cement spell and the golden spell book both need to be obtained in race mode. For both items, you should make sure that you're the last player. The best way to obtain them is to build a fragile tower and let it collapse on purpose. You're then often offered a multi-cement spell and a spell book as the next spell items. The golden spell book is very rare. While collapsing my tower on purpose, I got it at the fourth try after receiving a multi-cement and a red spell book three times in a row.

I got the trophy today. It seems that the gold spell book does not count if you use it in survival normal. I didn't get the trophy until I used it in race normal and it is extremely rare in a normal race. I did it in 2 player local co-op with an idle controller and just built with the guest controller so that my main account was in 2nd place. Eventually, it gave me the multiple stone brick + normal spell book. I didn't use either and then the next spell pick up gave me the gold book. First time I had ever seen the gold book in a normal race so maybe there is something I did that unlocks the dark magic there. No idea what exactly, but maybe this will help other people with this trophy.
In general, I made a visual picture for everyone with all types of magic, with its help I think everyone will succeed without any problems.

The bottom row (third) is done in the "Survival" mode, difficulty is normal
