At time of writing (the v1.0 release of the game), there is a bug where the specialist an d hybrid class achievements will only unlock if you don't die on the level you attempt. The developers are aware of this and it will be patched in the future.

There is a known issue where this apparently only unlocks if you didn't die in that level. My advice: try beating lvl 1-2 again (best one to grind for 2K enemies killed) on easy.
