Now, when you say you got the 2nd top answer.... did anyone else get #1? Because if the four players answered 2/3/4/5 and you got #2, that might count since it was the top of the answers given?

It felt to me as if the game in general seems to have a few more mistakes in its answers than the first game did which can make this a bit more awkward than it might otherwise be. That being said, it only took me three games looking up anything i wasn't sure of which is less than the One version of TPL1 did so who knows. Most of the errors i spotted were in games before i was going for this one, fortunately for me

For close call, why not just let the timer run out on the dummies? They won't get on the board. If in fact you get credit for being the top answer then this is the way to go. I was going to try it but I ended up with the top answer every time.

Just to add to what everyone else has, there are some questions the game legitimately has wrong.

I just got this one this morning, and in one of my failed attempts, the question was “which of these countries borders France” in a grab bag. I enter Germany, and the game says it’s wrong.

I was furious. It also said Brioche bread is traditionally Italian which it isn’t. It’s French. And that’s just the two I remember. Be warned this dang ratio is high for a reason.

Thanks, I was wondering why I thought I'd got every question right and it said I had 96% - The grab bag round was playing with AI, and they woould pick the top answer. Will play with alt human accounts next time

There are bugged questions in the game. I encountered a question in close call (last question before final ) which had the answers in an obviously wrong order.

This one is a bit finicky. Even with family questions, the "grab bag" segment can be a pain - the other modes either have pretty straightforward questions or you can quickly search the answer, but "grab bag" is harder.

Some things that made it easier, especially for that mode.

- Play as a 4-person game on Family questions (for all). It makes it much easier, for reasons I'll explain shortly. Do not do this against AI!

- You can also change difficulty to easy, medium or hard in the settings menu on the title screen, which I didn't realise until after (defaults to medium).

- "Quickstarter" and "Switchagories" are pretty easy, I won't cover them, just press the home/pause button and look up the answer if you're stuck. with Family questions, I knew 80-90% of them and I'm not very intelligent.

- For "Close Call", you have to have THE "best" answer, as others have said. When the question loads, pause/home button and look up the answer. I do recommend you put in 3 of the "worse answers" as your dummy profiles, though (your main account should be picking last each time, as you'll naturally be winning). I tried letting my 3 dummies time out for ease, and it actually glitched and didn't let it answer as my main account/skipped the question.

- "Grab Bag" sucks for this. Even if you sort of know the answers, the answers can be a bit particular and you need to clear the 8 correct answers off the board, so may run dry after 5-6. Also the trickiest (but still possible) to google.

My tactic here would be to actually try my best with ALL dummy profiles. You will pick last every time if you're winning (as you should be), meaning should only need to answers 2-3 times per question as your main account if you're good with your dummy account, minimising the chances of picking an incorrect answer. I would generally speaking look at the board, and save a couple of answers KNEW were correct for my main account. Any where I was borderline I'd save for my dummy accounts, just to be safe incase I was wrong. Did it first time doing this.

- The final round is very easy, you should have 4 wedges at this point, so just purposely answer incorrectly as the other 3 dummy profiles. Just keep in mind your time limit if you need to pause/Xbox menu and google as you only get a few seconds!

I can confirm for the round Close Call you do not have to get the top answer! You can get the 2nd and it is still counted. I got the 2nd answer in my run twice and the achievement still popped at the end of the game.

Don't mind the comment above me, it's false. I got 2nd on a close call because the answer wasn't true, and I didn't get the achievement.

Ugg this achievement is so stupid. I got screwed over in round 4 and the last question in grab bag four times in a row now, by stupid questions that are almost impossible to find on google (english words that originated in latin for example, or objects in space larger than Mercury (google gives different answers).

I just recently completed this. I did a lot of pausing, googling, process of elimination and jotting down some answers. There were plenty repeated questions in my 5 attempts. I played on family and easy with 4 controllers.

That's because the question is "which of these countries does NOT border France", you entered Germany, and that is wrong.

To anyone in the comments or anyone reading this. You must absolutely get everything correct, even in the "close call" one. You cannot get second place.

Google lied to me on the last question, I searched 10 times for the answer using different words, and I got it wrong. Fuck you Google.

Fyi when they say in grab bag you dont need to get them all correct just dont get them wrong. Letting the time run out counts as getting it wrong. So use all your guest accounts to just try get them right

Yes a spreadsheet would be great since this game has multiple wrong answers even though Google has said they are correct. Terrible game design

You need to really take your time on this one.

Grab bag is most likely where you will screw up and it doesn't help that the game often has wrong data or is just damn illogical (eg - types of paint include Goucache, Acrylicm, Aersol, White Spirit, NOT Mural, NOT Turpintine, but DOES include 'finger', here it conflates methods and products and decides to combine a selection of both as the correct answer while deciding some of both are wrong. So far I find this on at least one grab bag per game.

If you can avoid that then Google is helpful here and you may also want to try out ChatGPT (though beware that it often misses out things you submit in a list). Try to use topics you are most knowledgable about for those tricky rounds, you can at least try to use some judgement and find the path through all these tools and the game.

In terms of strategy, it is key also to use your other accounts as cannon fodder, deploy them to risky answers and try to keep the safe bets for yourself. Even if you spend 90 minutes on a game, painstakingly going careful, the game is fundamentally incorrect in many areas so you can either chalk up your losses and play it out as quick as possible to go towards wins or just hit restart. Patience is key here.

I just want to say this... Mont Blanc is a French dessert, not Italian.
