Maxed Out

Maxed Out

Achieve a x10 multiplier on every category (CTB)

50

How to unlock the Maxed Out achievement in Trivial Pursuit - Definitive Guide

Pretty simple really. Just work your way around the board missing out the wedges... When you land on a coloured square - read the question and then pull out the battery on your controller. This then pauses the game giving you ample time to locate the answer to the question.

Every time you get an answer right, your multiplier on the relevant wedge will plus 1...

Make sure all 6 wedges have a 10 over them and the achievement will pop.

To make it even easier - download the Movie Pack thats available (free at the time of writing), then you can spend 90% of your time on IMDB for the answers.

# NOTE: in some cases when you are trying to get a 10x multiplier, you will not have enough tiles to get that high. If that's the case, go into the center and keep answering questions from the category you need 10x on until you get it.

Actually, you can still answer hq spaces if you get a 10x multiplier in them first.

Basically if you are forced to land on a HQ space before getting everything to x10 you're screwed.

If you answer it correctly it drops random squares from the board, including ones you need to answer to get other colours back up to x10.

If you answer wrong, you can't get that colour back to x10 as answering squares from the middle space ticks off other squares and that colour disappears once they're done.

I've had to start again 3 times now because of this.

just another tip for those still playing this game is if you get a question wrong dashboard it straight away before dice appears and continue game. brings you back to before this question. also if you dont like the roll of the dice (ie it has landed you on a wedge) press start and quit, it will save your game and when you continue straight after you get to roll again from the same position. just rinse and repeat until you get the roll you want :)

I just got all the questions right and I ended up only having 10x in every column except sports at 8x. It wouldn't let me pick the center for more questions at the end, only the wedge space wtf? Like all questions were answered correctly, missed none. Sooooo...

Same as above, answered every single question right, got a 9x in Art and Literature at the end. Can't select center anymore. Waste of time :(

Don't take any wedges until you hit x10 on all of them. Turns out that when you clear a wedge it clears the spots around it. Didn't know this and ended with x8 in sports with no way to increase and now I get to do it again.

Yeah, got screwed over by this. Needed one more question. A disclaimer should have definitely been added about this possibility or made more clear.

Plus, the Movie Pack (or any others) is no longer available.

Or you can cheat another way. Answer the first question correctly (not a wedge question though) then turn Autosave off. Proceed to get the next 66 questions wrong or as often as you can (11 for each colour) and make a note of each correct answer. Then exit to the dashboard, re-start the game, select 'Continue'. Turn off the autosave again just incase you make a mistake. The game will carry on from after you got the first question right but this time you'll have all the answers as the questions for each colour will remain in the same order. Don't answer any wedge questions until they are all on 10x.

^ Awesome tip on what to do if you are forced to go to a Wedge HQ too early. Thanks! This should be added to the solution and walkthrough.

When going for this achievement, you should also be going for the following achievements:

Trivial PursuitYou Know Too MuchThe You Know Too Much achievement in Trivial Pursuit worth 210 pointsClear the board without getting a question wrong

Trivial PursuitObjective MasterThe Objective Master achievement in Trivial Pursuit worth 124 pointsComplete all objectives (CTB)

Trivial PursuitKnowledge is InvaluableThe Knowledge is Invaluable achievement in Trivial Pursuit worth 93 pointsBreak 60,000 points (CTB)

These 4 should be your last 4 achievements left in the game. If they are not, make sure you get the other achievements first or it will just be a pain!

Once you're at this stage, you have two options:

1) Like many have mentioned, if you do not have the save feature on but you have saved at least once in the game and gotten all questions correct up until that point, simply record the answers (don't worry about getting them wrong), stop short of the end, and quit to dashboard. When you load up the game again, you'll be able to play through answering all the same answers you just saw.

2) My personal technique which took 25% of the time was to have my laptop or computer near me and start the game up. Make sure the autosave feature is turned on. While playing, you can look up answers on your laptop or computer to the ones you don't know. If you need more time, unplug your controller or pop the batteries out. Worst comes to worst, you get a question wrong... simply press the power button on the xbox as fast as you can. Chances are, you can look up the answer before the timer runs down. You won't have to play through twice, either, and your time is only wasted on a few power-downs... maybe 5 tops, if you are just that bad at using google.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, just let me know! smile

Why will not having all the other achievements in the game before going for the 4 you mention above "be a pain"? A number of the achievements are game mode specific, so how would say, not having all the Facts and Friends-based achievements make it a pain for you if you then started going for these 4, which are all Clear The Board-based achievements?

I did this and the You Know Too Much achievement in the same game.

Basically the game sets the same question each time you land on a particular category. So what you do is when you roll the dice and land on a color answer the question. If you get it right, good job and if you get it wrong... wait until the answer pops up and then return to the dashboard. The autosave only happens once the dice pop up. If you do return to the dashboard, try to get to the same category and you should already know the answer if you return to the same category. Rinse and repeat until you get 10x in all categories. Any wrong questions will result in no achievement.

This is my first solution so if it sucks I am sorry.

(*When trying to obtain You Know Too Much at the same time)
An additional challenge, if you roll a 6 right away, or are forced to choose only wedges after a roll, obtaining x10 on all is now impossible.

As other guides say, you'll want to answer every section on the board's paths. When you get a question you don't know, remove your controller's battery pack, which pauses the timer and gives you time to google it. When you get the question right, the multiplier for that Wedge HQ goes up, and that section is no longer usable on the board.

What I want to stress that other guides don't, is to avoid using Center during the game until all the sections have been used. I found that when I used Center during the game before I finished the other sections, I was left unable to get 10x on every multiplier. Save yourself redoing it and avoid Center. If you're in a situation where you have to select one, press your guide button on your controller and restart Trivial Pursuit, so you're back to before the dice roll, and do that until you can move to a spot you want to.

A correct answer in Clear the Board adds to a category's multiplier. Answer every question correct in the regular spaces of each of the six categories, avoiding the Wedge HQ spaces until you have a 10x multiplier in the applicable category. Be sure to answer the final question correctly on the first attempt to unlock a few of the game's objectives for the "Objective Master" trophy. If you don't know the answer, press the button to pause the game, giving you ample time to look it up. I highly recommend downloading the Trivial Pursuit Movie Pack, which is available free from Playstation Store, and consulting SirkSirk's Movie Pack Questions & Answers thread.

NOTE: If you're unable to find the answer, feel free to guess; quitting to the XMB before the game auto-saves will allow you to try again.
