In order to raise your character traits, you must win scenarios. The three traits you pick at the beginning of the mission, wether you choose a custom avatar or a pregenerated one, are the three that will level up. So it takes a minimum of 5 wins, using the same three traits all 5 times, to pop this achievement. Of course, if you're going for the Expert achievement (have all traits at 5) this one will come naturally.
