How to unlock the Hope achievement in Tropico 5 - Definitive Guide

Story related and unmissable. This trophy will be obtained after completing the fifteenth and final campaign mission. To win this mission you'll have to impress the 5 other foreign powers by completing one objective for each. These objectives can be either very hard or very quick and easy depending on how you've set up your island in mission 11, reason being that in this mission you'll get an exorbitant amount of interest on your money and you can buy anything you need without even having to have a profitable economy. You'll return to this island in missions 13 and 15, which both can be finished extremely fast and easy if you already meet all the requirements:

Mission 15 objectives

  • USA: Have 180 tourists on your island at the same time.
  • European Union: Have 3 TV stations.
  • Russia: Export 20,000 rum.
  • China: Have a population of at least 900.
  • Middle East: Have at least 50 miltary personnel.

Story related and can´t be missed. You will get this after mission 15.

To prepare, start with the campaign mission 11: "Get-rich-quick" on Puerto Coco. On this mission, you get insane amounts of interest for your bank deposits. Be careful to never exceed one million dollars on your treasury, else you will win and the mission is over. You can exceed it at the deposit. You should do the following before winning the mission:

1. Build a lot of hotels and tourists attractions and have more than 200 tourists on the island.
2. Remove the current dock and put it somewhere more centered, build 4 of them, then surround them with enhanced guard towers, army bases and barracks. Do not have any docks in other places
3. Get a population of over 900
4. Build 3 TV Stations
5. Build at least 4 Sugar Farms and 2 Rum distilleries.
6. Have a high overall happiness

For mission 13: "Leon Must Die!": Choose Puerto Coco and you'll win it in a few minutes without doing anything.

For mission 15: "Hope": You will fulfill all 5 requirements to win the final mission and it'll take less than 10 minutes to complete.

Unlocked after completing campaign mission 15: "Hope". On my first try, I found this mission to be incredibly hard even on the easiest settings. However, if prepared correctly, it's super easy.

To prepare, start with the campaign mission 11: "Get-rich-quick" on Puerto Coco. On this mission, you get insane amounts of interest for your bank deposits. Be careful to never exceed one million dollars on your treasury or deposit, else you will win and the mission is over.
You should do the following before winning the mission:

1. Build a lot of hotels and tourists attractions and have more than 200 tourists on the island. I did this in the southwest part of the map:

2. Remove the current dock and put it somewhere more centered, build 4 of them, then surround them with enhanced guard towers, army bases and barracks. Do not have any docks in other places. Here's a picture of my map:

Don't get ambushed like I did. I reached the last mission, but my economy was bad and I was constantly crashing and I had to go through the game again so that there were no such failures you need to: read the basic tips on the forum, the second point, in mission 11 in the second part of your career, where to earn a million . Earn 5-6 million there and set up buildings further away to make it easier for you in other missions. Well, I advise you, after you have saved up, to immediately make 5 conditions for mission 15, so that when you complete mission 15 you just go in, click a couple of times, wait until the rum is exported and that’s it

It’s very difficult to get into trouble, as they write above, but testing the level + randomly + more or less good infrastructure is important.

if you completed the last mission on this island without any problems, then:

-leave the radio towers to the very end, they are inexpensive, and finish them with quick construction.
-immediately try to convert your land (cotton/pigs/llamas, etc.) to immediately start exporting and have more money.
-if you finished the last mission with two factories set up for sale, then everything is simple.
-everything possible for export, power plant + 2 rum factories + 3 sugar plantations + purchase of 2-3 ships of sugar.
-at the port (or along the road from the port to the castle), which was given to you, immediately build 8-10 towers with machine guns. also 2 army bases, a commando and an aircraft carrier, but most importantly, towers and at least one base, and then it’s a matter of money.

3/5 of the tasks will have to be completed automatically or almost automatically based on past missions on the island.

If you still get stuck (like me) and are too lazy to replay the entire campaign, do the following:
- we demolish up to 80% of all buildings (both production and housing)
- we leave only the most vital (by the way, they eat corn, even if you have plenty of other things, without it they are not like true Indians =)
- we are building a navy (so that we can somehow fight back, although in my opinion it is very stupid and weak)
- it is highly desirable to surround the main building with towers from the original capital, which they give us, in rows of 2, or on the sides, 10-16 pieces (from the same rebellious and attacking “well-wishers” of countries)
- all the money and attention is on the residents (we look at what is missing and complete the construction; by the way, sometimes it is better to raise wages in a building than to build it anew - the efficiency of this can be even higher)
- we are trying to gradually equalize the economy, and monitor trade in the ports, in the hope of finding a good export option with high payments
- in addition to stabilizing money, we are increasing the level of payment in the towers (so that less people run away from there and can protect) and ports (increasing wages, reducing the duration of the voyage - ships transport goods faster and we get money)
- well, then we’ll gradually upset everything

Very good advice on the construction of expensive buildings in mission 11 (where you need to collect a million), but alas, I read about it when I got there...

Yes, this is a long time, not an hour or two, depending on the severity of your indiscretion in the early games on this map. But this is clearly much faster than going through the entire campaign again. (As an example, everything was very bad for me - the economy was in rapid decline, constant population riots, constant attacks from other countries)

Given for completing the campaign, or rather for its last mission.

Get ready to repel constant attacks - build towers near the port (with machine guns), and military bases with barracks there in order to quickly respond to aggression, and at the time of attack, I recommend increasing the budget for defensive structures to the maximum ( on a budget applies it to all buildings of this type)
