How to unlock the I Thought I Knew You achievement in Truth or Lies - Definitive Guide

While many of the other guides for this achievement seem to include making high pitched noises and playing different tracks into your microphone (which will eventually get you this achievement), I found this method to be (possibly) 100% successful.

I used it 15 times in a row with a lie registered every single time.

To access this game type, simply choose Hot Seat. There will be 3 questions per round. When creating the profiles, do NOT do voice calibration.

The Method:
Hold your mic against your throat so it will pick up your vocal chords while humming. As soon as the timer begins, start with a high pitched hum and hold it until about 70-80% of the blue bar fills up. Once the bar fills up to that point, drop the tone of your hum to a deeper, bass-like hum until the bar fills.

Method Update (Credit to milehighkoala)
If the method isn't completely working for you, try holding the high pitched hum until the blue bar fills up to around 90% instead of 70-80%. It should help!

Hands down the best, easiest, most reliable method of getting a lie to register. Worked every time. Thumbs up from me, bro.

Thanks for the tip Mile, I'll add it in that if it's not working, try holding the high pitch a tiny bit longer!

I don't know how I'm doing this wrong, but with this method I'm getting TRUTH for everything!

Have you tried Milehigh's tip? Maybe holding the higher note for a tad longer? :X

You sir, are a Legend. This has to be the easiest tip, i was using it with a calibrated voice and even on that it produced a lie 80% of the time. On an uncalibrated voice, i was lieing 100%.

took me a couple tries to get the humm down, but thanks this worked great. I tried the other solutions and nothing would work, this is super easy! I will add that I was calibrated.

This was a lifesaver. Nothing I tried worked, and got this to work every single time except once. I aimed for holding the higher note until about 90 percent of the blue bar, then dropping (the one time it didn't work I dropped to the lower note probably 70% of the way). Thanks a million!

given the poor consistency within this game of its core mechanic getting consecutive results can be tricky.

I ended up with a faked - shakey, high pitch voice answer which seemed to produce the most reliable 'lie'

there are 3 questions in 1 round of Hot Seat - keep at it and it will drop

High pitched voice definitely seemed to be more reliable for lies

the opposite for me, low monotone, uninterested whine eventually worked, though how much was technique and how much luck i don't know. This games analytical tools are shocking!

This was the hardest achievement for me to earn until I found a decent system for Lying. A Hotseat round has only 3 questions, so keep trying until you get it. Refer below for tips:

How to tell the Lie:
Lying is much harder than telling the truth. The best way I was able to lie was to use a very monotone voice, speak quietly, and break up my words so the sound breaks apart. To be honest, it worked best when I tried to sound very uninterested and sarcastic. I was saying: "I just want this game to be over. Please." lol

Thank you! This worked 1st time for me. Saying "I just want this game to be over" in monotone followed by the deepest note I can muster to fill the bar.

2.16 worked pretty consistently to register a lie. 1.10's grubby drop also fared reasonably well, though I think Kurt's manipulated whisper at 2.16 is probably the best bet.

For all the positives I just shouted 'DUBSTEP' in a booming, monotone voice and hit 1000s almost all day long.

Same idea as "Original Sinner" except in a round of hot seat, instead of a standard game.
