Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion

You begin the game with 3 hearts, so you're tasked with growing a total of 9 heart fruits.

Four of the hearts are earned after defeating the bosses in their respective locations.

1: King Pig in the Bustling Barn
2: Rotten Cat Apple in the Forsaken Farmhouse
3: Stag in the Forgotten Forest
4: Liz in the Bomb Bunker

The remaining 5 require more steps, and the 9th heart fruit will be the most time-consuming since you need to beat the game in order to access the area it's in.


5: Anytime after defeating King Pig, the alleyway to the left of Layer Lane will open up, allowing you to solve a Bloomboom puzzle. Keep growing and kicking the Bloombooms in the order of left > down > left >up > right.

6: In the Forsaken Farmhouse, when you go to turn on the generator in order to progress, there is a can of spray paint. Bring that to Graffiti Guy who is located in the very east of Weapon Woods.

7: Anytime after defeating Rotten Cat Apple, head back into the Forsaken Farmhouse and speak with the Pickle Gang. Go back to the alleyway left of Layer Lane and speak to the carrot. Bring the hammer back to the Pickle Gang, who initially awards you with a Fedora. Speak to them a final time and they will say goodbye. Re-enter the room and water the heart fruit that was underneath the pickle jar.

8: Anytime after beating Stag and subsequently obtaining the Pocket Petalportal, go to the path in the east of Plain Plains. Water the portal flower and use yours to spawn the other portal point. Go into the portal. Once you're on the other side of the fence, use your Petalportal again to create a set of portals below the Bloomboom and above the rock. Grow and kick the Bloomboom down; it will travel through the portals and blow up the rock, exposing the heart fruit spot underneath. If you somehow mess up or the portals time out, you can keep trying until everything is lined up perfectly.

9: Once you kill the final boss and beat the game, the little orange creature in front of the cavern in Rocky Ramp will be gone. You can now enter Crumbling Caves and grow the final heart fruit.

Most hearts are from play through and bosses. You need all the hats to get the last heart from the unlocked room the dog was blocking. The pickle jar leaves behind a heart when you return after releasing them.

For this achievement, you will need to beat the entire game to unlock the 12th heart. You start with 3 hearts, requiring you to obtain 9 more.

3: Stag in the Forgotten Forest

5: Anytime after defeating King Pig (Boss Fight 1), you can exit the building. Go south to the shopping area, then west to a new area. Solve the boom puzzle by kicking the bombs to the next lined up box. The final box reveals a heart.

6: In the Forsaken Farmhouse (Boss Fight 2), when you go to turn on the generator after beating the boss, there is a can of spray paint. Bring that to the Graffiti Guy (GG). From the starting area, he is North East (the first area you ever went to, really close to the sword). Just before the sword is a room to the East, and he's there.

7: In the same area (Forsaken Farmhouse: Boss Fight 2), after beating the boss, return to the fridge. In the fridge is the Pickle Gang, asking you to break them free. Return to the area mentioned in (#5) with the boom puzzle. Here is a carrot, who will give you a hammer. Return it to the gang, leave the room, talk to them again, leave, and when you return to see they are gone, the heart is here.

8: Anytime after beating Stag and subsequently obtaining the Pocket Petalportal, go to the path in the east of Plain Plains. This is just below the starting area, and below that winding sandy area where the students lost their phone. Water the portal, and use your portal to teleport to the other side of the fence. There is a heart here.

9: Once you kill the final boss and beat the game, the little orange creature in front of the cavern in Rocky Ramp (just below the starting area) will be gone. You can now enter Crumbling Caves and grow the final heart fruit. If you try to before obtaining the other 8 hearts (and having 11 in total) you will see a weird/creepy cat. You have to go find the heart you missed, and return.
