How to unlock the Cut Above achievement in Two Point Hospital - Definitive Guide

This one takes the longest time to complete out of the World Class achievements.

Because the surgery animation is is one of the longest in the game they see less patients. So the doctor takes more time to level up.

If you are lucky you can hire a doctor who already has a few surgeon traits unlocked. This will improve time.

You could also speed things up by putting them into a GP office. They will see a far greater amount of patients and level up that bit faster.

Seconded re chucking them into a GP Office to level, I was unfortunate and my leading surgeon had the stupid trait - by the time I hit 3 stars on Smogley she was still way off. Putting the game on fast forward and making sure they're always in a GP Office really sped things along.

Didn't unlock for me? hired a Dr with lvl1 surgery took him up to lvl5 but it didn't pop, hired another Dr with no skills & used the first Dr to teach them up to lvl 5 surgery & it still didn't pop.
Not sure if it's due to being in the castle map up in the snow or not but i guess i'll try it again on the Flemington map or something? cry

It also didn't unlock for me. Tried rebooting the game, but no pop. The game itself knew I did it and awarded me the kudosh on the map screen, but no achievement :/

Not unlocking for me, I got level 5 surgery skill unlocked in about year 30 at one of my hospitals but no achievement

If you are having trouble unlocking the achievement even after completing training for level V, press up on the d-pad and in the superbug menu (middle menu [objectives, superbug, projects]) check if you have the status "online". If you are in "offline" status, save and exit to the menu. When you return to the hospital you will be "online" again and you must complete level V training while "online".

It's important to note that you will automatically go "offline" after a certain amount of time playing continuously, so always check your superbug status before any achievement. You must be online for progress to count for you. To make this possible, access the menu and disable automatic saving in the settings.

Way more important than one starting qualification(100xp), get a doctor with the Fast Learner trait, which speeds up not just training time but xp gain too. And you need 2k xp more.

To get this I had to start a new game after it failed the first time. On my second run, I had to get all the way to Smogley again and then train the surgeon.

This time, i quick saved before the fifth training was finished. Lucky, because it didn't unlock. So I closed the game, shut it down, reopened and went back to my game. This time it unlocked when the fifth training finished.

I believe it is a problem with the quick start system. So make sure you save just before you get the training complete. Playing on Series X.

If a surgeon is sent to work in a GP office, it will take three times less time. Just don’t forget to teach him the surgical craft.
