As you play, you will find spell booster cards. When you get one, go to the spell selection screen and move one of them to a boost card slot near a spell. Go back to the game and cast that spell.
The spell boost cards are stackable so you can put many of the same card one into a spell (just like spells and similar to weapon merging).

Booster cards are somewhat rare, but you can occasionally find them in chests or on dead enemies. Most likely you'll be able to just buy they from a mage vendor. Once you have one, equip it in the magic screen, then use whatever spell you attached it to.
