How to unlock the I Was Saving That achievement in UnderMine - Definitive Guide
I finally got this after 65 hours! Pure luck dictates when you will find the schematic to brew the potion... hope you find it faster than me.
Step 1: Unlock potion shop
Find the 3 mushrooms in the gold mines. It's like a mini-mission the first runs you do through the gold mine levels. After randomly meeting Beltrame (the Orko-looking guy with a straw hat), accept his mission. You have to find 3 random rooms (doesn't have to be in the same run):
Shiitake room - Kill the mushroom enemies in this room to receive the shiitake.
Blastcap room - Blow up the ground with a bomb in the middle of the patch of soil to reveal the blastcap.
Nightshade room - A sign in the room says to put out all lights. Hit all light sources on the walls to reveal the nightshade.
Give Beltrame the 3 mushrooms back in the hub room to gain access to the potion brewer lady.
Step 2: Find Elixir schematic
Random drop from the purple gem tiles that also drop thorium (wall tiles or statue tiles) or thorium chests (the purple ones with golden rims). It may take many many runs to get this, keep going! If you've got your first Summoning Stone and have access to the Othermine, it is supposedly a good place to get guaranteed schematics as the bosses drop them. Be prepared for some tough fights, though - the Othermine is way harder than the standard game mode.
If you want to do a really cheesy method, I had a purple thorium tile spawn in the first room on a new level. If you get this, hack it open, and if the schematic doesn't drop, quit out (DON'T "Give up!") and restart, and hack it again until you hopefully get the Elixir schematic. Mind you, this may take hours depending on the randomness of the spawns, and you're not really getting any progress in the game doing this, so it might be better to just play normally and hope for an early spawn.
Step 3: Brew Elixir
Spend thorium in the potion shop to make the potion. For me it cost 28, but the official wiki says the brew cost is 38. Not sure if I got some items or upgrades that give a discount but either way, if you got a spare 40 or so thorium you can make it.
Step 4: Die!
Jump down the mine with your newly crafted potion, run to the first enemies and just die. Achievement pop! :-)

What are you specifically referring to when you say “tiles?” Not sure if your calling them something different, but I have no idea what a blue gem floor or wall tile is? The thorium is purple and that drops from purple gems found in stones/walls, so not understanding that connect. Appreciate the info!

Agh, so sorry, I am colorblind and didn't doublecheck the color info 😂 I've updated to purple description... the thorium wall tiles are rectangular purple gems. The thorium statues are like the statues holding gold, but with a round purple gem instead 😊 Hope that clears up any confusion...
