How to unlock the The Naked and Famous achievement in UnderMine - Definitive Guide
The Naked and Famous achievement is for completing a run of Othermine without upgrades from the antechamber chest or shops. This means that you CANNOT open the chest in the middle of the antechamber room (the first room you start in after entering the blue portal) and CANNOT buy any upgrades from the shops. The upgrades in the Pilfer shop can always be found in the upper right corner. When you stand next to an item, the description will tell you whether it is an upgrade or something else.
Some tips:
- For your starting items, I would recommend taking blessings that focus on damage such as swing damage, critical hit, throwing damage, etc. For the curses, the easiest curses to manage are the ones that reduce the selection of the shop or slightly increase shop prices.
- For the familiar, I played with the blue bird called Thunderbird. This is a personal choice. He is especially useful during the boss fight with the four headed dragon because the dragon is vulnerable against electrical attacks. The familiar that you might not want to choose is the yellow canary because that one only picks up gold and slightly increases the value of picked up gold.
- The item selection you start with is RNG based. Sometimes you will be unlucky so you can try repeatedly until the game deals you the right cards.
- You are still allowed to buy relics. bombs, keys, potions, food from the Pilfer / black rabbit shops. Use this to your advantage!
- In the main hub, try to craft relics, blessings and potions that could potentially be useful. Once you craft a new item it can appear in subsequent runs. Don’t craft everything because you will be stuck with less useful items during your runs.
- Resources are scares. Opening cursed chests and blowing up cursed stones is one of the few ways to get stronger. Most times the curse won’t be too disrupting and you will find altars and items at the shop that can lift the curse during your run.
- Never open cursed chests or blow up cursed stones before exploring the whole floor. You could get unlucky and get curses such as locks have their requirements doubled, using a bomb costs two, shop prices are expressed in health, etc.
- You should approach the boss fights with caution. You will have to draw out the fights and take your time because you are underpowered. Learn their patterns and see where there is a gap to attack.
- By pressing “back” you open the menu. I advise you to not open the menu immediately after something big happens on screen like when the altar blows up after praying, bomb explosions or when a lot of gold is on screen. A few times my game froze because I opened the menu when the game couldn’t handle it.
Dashboard trick
- It is possible to dashboard the game BUT the trick will only work if you health hasn’t reached zero yet. If you already died and you quickly try to dashboard, it will be too late and you will start in the main hub once you start the game again.
How to dashboard: Press start to pause in-game --> Press the Xbox home button --> Press A on “Home” --> Press the start button --> Select “Quit”
Once you dashboard during a floor or boss fight, you will start again at the beginning of the last floor you started. The layout of the floor (including secret rooms) will often stay the same but this isn't always the case. Chests in rooms can change. This also applies to cursed chests and stones.
You can use this trick when you are low on health and don’t think you will make it. It can also help with managing curses. The curses you get from cursed chests and stones will remain the same but removing a curse at an altar is at random. In a situation where you have multiple curses, you could repeatedly use the altar and dashboard until the curse that you want is removed.
Edit 01/09/2020: As Morbid237 pointed out, you can also quit the game by pressing start and quitting the game instead of dashboarding. This is much quicker. Once you continue, you will be back at the beginning of the last floor you started.
Hope this helps and good luck!

If you still have health you can pause and quit to menu and then restart at beginning of level, that's much quicker than dashboard quitting. If you've taken your final hit then dashboard quitting could work, but you don't have much time.
I agree with your thunderbird familiar pick, I used the fire bird when I unlocked this the other day. Definitely go with an offensive familiar.
I got lucky and and found the vorpal blade early on which is very good for most of the bosses. I also received a lot of items that helped fighting regular enemies, warpaint, gold ups damage, gold electrifies enemies. Which doesn't really help against bosses... Unless you take a gold potion in with you. The salamander was the final boss and I don't think he made it around the room more than 1 time.
The cleave and swing speed blessings are also good, especially the cleave one.

Thanks for your input Morbid237. I didn't know you could quit the game in-game and restart at the beginning of the level. I'll make sure to add it to the solution!
The war paint is fairly useful in rooms with lots of enemies to finish them off quickly but I found the gold items to be inferior compared to damage based relics.
