How to unlock the Loopist achievement in Unmechanical: Extended - Definitive Guide

Find a metal beam and a large room, grab onto one end of the beam and start swinging in the air. I found it easiest with a clockwise rotation, so I would start by swing the beam anti-clockwise until it was parallel with the floor and then swing it back the other way. The momentum should carry it round and the beam will push your character round for one spin.
If you keep the momentum going, four rotations in succession should be no problem - after some practice.
I've seen some people do this in the big room that's bottom left from the 'Heart Room', but I did this in Extended in a room with a magnet.
You should also be able to do this in the large cavern with the furnace - when completing the puzzles in the rooms to the left of that cavern, the last puzzle will require a metal beam. Just bring that with you out and completing the spins in this cavern should be the easiest place as it is massive and it should be much easier to avoid walls.
This video from "aka Scratch" demonstrates the achievement.

Just to help people... the DIRECTIONS you need to push on the stick are UP and DOWN with each spin. If you try RIGHT and LEFT, it won't work.

Took me almost a fucking hour to get this achievement. So annoying! Almost rage quitted a few times and that hasn't happened in a loooong time for me.

Fuck this stupid fucking achievement. Every fucking spin I get I just lose all momentum no matter what direction I push. Fuck this.

Up/Down confirmed. It keeps the momentum after the first rotation.

Up definitely worked for me. This was the part I was missing which was annoying me. It should really be in the guide.

Grabbing the girder by its very end and then using up/down after the first rotation is definitely the way to go. Worked perfectly for me.

Up/down worked. Thanks for the comments guys! Really should be in the guide. Had done dozens of loops with no joy til I saw the comments clap

I was only playing around with a lever when I got this one, believe it or not. I just flipped it as far left and right as it would allow several times and somehow the game counted that motion as loops.

It's hard to explain, but you should get a sense for it. About halfway into each spin you need to switch the direction you're pushing on the left stick just to keep it going. Time it well and you get another rotation. You'll also want to be holding pretty near to the end of the beam. Let me know if there's anything else I can add that might help you. Good luck

Forget about "momentum", "left and right", "up and down"... the best and easiest way to get this achievement is available in Extended Level.

"Near the beginning your robot will get smashed and have limited functionality. You will then get repaired. In the large open area of the place where you get repaired is one of the metal planks. I was able to easily swing this one around for the trophy. Try to grab near the edge so you are perpendicular to the plank, not so it's just hanging straight down below you."

For some reason, the physics seem to work differently in this area - after struggling to chain more than 2-3 in the other areas, I was able to chain 7 in this area. Popped after #6, so keep spinning until it pops...

I struggled with this on the regular levels, but worked like a charm here, in the extended one! Thanks for this!

by far the best area. You get the plank after you see the two buttons which would need a plank from the pipe lid opening below.

By far the best, tried other methods for about an hour, got this first try and actually did 50 loops in a row just for fun!! Couple clarifications... you should get repaired first, don't be like me trying while still broken haha... and then, there's two large areas, one to the right of the repair machine and one to the left. Go to the RIGHT. The gravity here works in a different way such that you can easily loop by actually doing loops in your controller, instead of the whole momentum/up/down technique

During Chapter 2, you'll reach an area with a blueish-grey metal structure in the background and you'll have to grab some rubble from a room to the left to raise the water level below in order to complete an open electrical circuit. Use the steel beam and grab onto the end of it, then rock back and forth to get momentum and then turn into the swing to do 4 quick loops in a row for this one. I found it easiest to use both joysticks to do the loops once I got going. This can also be unlocked in Chapter 5 by wedging yourself in the gap between two of the moving pipes.

Check timestamp 0:13:12 in the walkthrough video for this one.

You will need a metal beam.

All you need to make sure is:

1. Have enough room to make the loops without interruption. Touching water does not count as an interruption as you can see in the video.

2. Carry the metal beam from one of its ends.

- During chapter 2 you will get to an area were you have to raise the water level to proceed. In that area you will find a metal beam in a small room on the top left corner. You will have to swing that medal beam from left to right a few times to gain momentum, and then start making loops. It helps if you start at the top of the room and also use a downward motion to gain extra momentum. You will need 4 consecutive loops.

I found a super easy solution for this by accident :) In the level where you have to burn 6 pieces of coal in a furnace to build pressure, you then need to go to the bottom left of that map and fill in a bucket like thing with water, drop it in a nearby sphere, and then throw in a flaming lava ball. This will generate some steam and spit the empty bucket back out, most likely landing in the water to the right.

Now if you do this just after you build up the pressure by burning the coal, throwing that last lava ball to generate the steam release will cause the map to tremble for a good 10 seconds or so. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THROWING THE LAVA BALL IN, fly towards the water (your bottom right and catch the bucket with the beam). The map tremors will cause you to shake and because of the weight of the bucket, you will continuously spin in a circle above the water, which puts you still in a floating state and causing this achievement to pop, since you are doing a whole bunch of 360s. It was really easy, hope that helps.

Despite various attempts with the metal beam,i just couldn't get the achievement to pop.I ended up using one of the large boxes when doing the second laser redirection puzzle,i didn't actually do a loop, all i did swing from left to right and after awhile the achievement popped.
