This is unlocked in 2015 and is essentially required to finish the level. There will be 10 plants sitting around on boxes and one on the window sill in the office.

For convenience sake I'd do this before unpacking anything and place all of them on the living room shelf just to be sure.

Here's a quick way to get all the Achievements in a Full Walkthrough

For Green Thumb, All plants besides one are in the Second Version of 2013

There's one from 2013 that is a small plant that is in the computer room. It is on top of some brown boxes.

2015

There's one in the kitchen.

There are four in the living room.

There are three in the bedroom on top of white boxes.

Place them on a self to get yourself your achievement.

Story Related, can't be missed.

You will earn this as you make your way through Chapter 2015. All of the plants need to be unpacked (or at least moved) so you'll have to "find a place" for all of them to finish the Chapter. If you're running out of room, keep in mind that the smaller plants can fit on the windowsills so you can store them out of the way.
