How to unlock the Roof runner achievement in Unravel Two - Definitive Guide
I found this to be by far the hardest speedrun of the six main levels. I probably spent more time practicing and working on this one than I did on the other five combined.
The gold medal time is 13:00. At first, that seemed absurd. I had runs where I thought I did a decent job getting through the level quickly and they were over 14 minutes. How the hell was I going to shave off another minute?
A few of the other levels have some decent skips that can save you 30 seconds or more. I was unable to find anything at all on this level of that magnitude. The only way I was able to beat the goal time was to practice each section enough so that I could get through them as efficiently as possible without making any significant mistakes.
My successful run was pretty solid as it beat the gold time by over 20 seconds:
A few tips:
-Hold Y during the opening scene so that your characters join together and are a single character when you gain control in the next room.
- Once you slide through the pipes and reach the lower area with a cutscene of the shadowy people coming out of the building, run all the way to the right and as soon as you see the camera start moving, jump and begin running to the right. If you aren’t immediately quick here, you won’t get ahead of the moving fire enemies and will lose a cycle and therefore a bunch of time.
- When you launch out of the devices that shoot air, you are stunned briefly when you land. But if you press Y in midair to separate your characters, the second character won’t get stunned and you can control him immediately.
And other than that, everything is pretty straightforward. Practice. Persist. You’ll get it.

I suggest trying to emulate my run as I believe I’ve approached each section in the best way possible.

I was able to get this to work consistently. And I always reacted to the screen shifting and would jump as soon as I saw the screen start to move.

This is by far the toughest Gold, I put off doing it for a long time because I didn't want to grind it. Thanks to the speedrunning community, there is now a trick that can shave up to 6-7 minutes off of your time.
The Skateboard launch can send you all the way to the final cut scene if you are lucky enough. You set up the trick by having one yarny on top of the skateboard and the other underneath. Using the Yarny on the bottom, pull on the Yarn with LT and Jump. Took me about 5 or 6 tries, but when I got it it bypassed the next 2 sections and I saved 5 or 6 minutes.
This is a luck based trick, you will likely have to reset many times, some launches will send you a few feet, others will send you straight up or backwards. You can gauge for yourself whether the time you spent setting up the trick, and the distance you were launched is good enough, otherwise reset the checkpoint.
I don't know how to post links, but here is the clip of me getting it. I ended up with an 11:03, even after a few failed launches.
This is the furthest I got with it, but my set up took too long and I wasn't able to unlock the gold.
Since this is pure luck based, it may be easier just to get good and execute the run normally with no faults, but here is a fun alternative.

My best time is 13:07 so far 😰 however looking through youtube there is way to avoid tying the knots after the first steam vent. Perfecting that on my switch gameplay before I go on to do it on xbox the rest I can get almost flawless. The 13:07 killed me inside when I saw it on lol
UPDATE on that I FINALLY got it in 12:58 Felt like the worst run I've ever done 😱.
Took a ton of practice. With the skateboard I joined both characters together pushed it to the far left then jumped on gave me enough momentum to reach the other side of say shaved a couple second of my time.

My opinion: do not, by any means, waste your time trying to do this without the skateboard glitch. I might only be saying that because I hate these type of achievements and I saved this one until last so I'm absolutely sick of playing this game, but I also think the margin of error they leave you with the 13 minute requirement is at best... really stupid.
So if that's where you're at, here's all I know about how I activated the glitch: get one guy on each side of the skateboard, hold down left trigger, and push the skateboard up the side of the ramp until the guy on the top falls under the skateboard. Keep holding left trigger, drag the skateboard back down the ramp if you need to, and jump the other guy on top of the board and walk him to the edge of the board where the other guy is. I don't think jumping is part of what triggers it but if you need to jump around to get into position that's fine, and you still might end up setting it off. After some practice you should be able to see that the glitch activates as you walk the top guy to the edge of the board (again still holding left trigger) so just keep fiddling around and walking back and forth over there until it launches you. And keep doing the motions after you launch because sometimes the skateboard sticks and I think you might go further (?), but eventually the yarnies will come back into view and if you're holding the stick to the right you'll continue flying that way until you hit the ground, sometimes many screens later (not just at the end of the outdoor section). Here's a video of me trying and nailing a good launch that didn't end up being a successful run, but you'll get the idea:
That's all I got. It took me about an hour of trying, and my successful attempt came after a failure where I was able to reload the checkpoint and try again, so if you mess up but you're able to reset and try again then go for it, otherwise you have to restart the level and sit through all the... beautiful cut scenes again.

Lmao... Started the game yesterday, 100% today. Didn't even know there was a glitch.
Got 12:49 after 10 attempts, wasn't as bad as everyone makes it seem, not sure what all the fuss is about 🤷🏾♂️

To unlock this trophy you have to do a speedrun in gold medal time for chapter 2. In order to do so a second player is very helpful to do things simultaneously.
However, you might not have a second player so here are some general pieces of advice: Do not hesitate at all; you can do nearly all of the enemy sections in a fluent way if you just go for it. The same applies for tricky platforming sections. Whenever possible connect both Yarnies into one by holding when close together.

Like all other gold medals, the solo will be close, but very, very difficult. The passage must be so perfectly “polished” with all the shortcuts that it will be almost impossible to do alone. Believe me. Only the last level can be taken solo without much stress. All the rest only with a partner through Sharp Play or locally. The time savings with a partner are enormous. In solo, the drawdown is 2 minutes at each level if everything is done perfectly.

A few tips.
1. When you jump into the steam pipe (closer to the end of the level), you need to press triangle so as not to watch the animation of how they come to their senses after landing. This glitch only works if you are sitting next to each other. This saves 3 seconds.
2. Every time you pull yourself up to Yarny with , it is better to additionally press the jump button several times. Thanks to this, you climb to the top faster.
Sometimes I was able to make a high jump this way, which allowed me to go around an obstacle rather than climb over it. But I still don’t understand how to do this correctly.
3. Very often the levels show what is happening in the background. At this point the camera is not looking at you, but towards the end of these videos you can begin to move, although you are not yet visible. This also saves precious seconds.
