As an alternate solution, I played a 1v1 Vehicle CTF on Sandstorm. Offline, I had my main profile signed in and a dummy profile signed in as well (split screen) I hopped in the Necris flying vehicle (I apologize for not knowing the name) then flew over to the enemy base. While I was doing this I got my dummy profile into the other flying vehicle, then returned to my first controller and gunned down my poor non-existing opponent. From there I quit the match, restarted it up again, rinse & repeat. This achievement actually will come surprisingly quick.

Well I can also confirm that quitting the match works. When you return to the main menu screen you see the "saving" icon in the top right corner. Again, as with a few of these weapon achievements it popped early, around 11 kills for me. Great solution and a positive from me.

Just confirming that quitting the game does in fact count, if anyone doubted you. I split my matches between quitting and not quitting and after 20 matches, I still unlocked the achievement

I found Vehicle CTF on Suspense to be the easiest/quickest way to get this. Use 1 cap, no bots, with another player. It's pretty easy to trade wins, just both run outside to the flying vehicle, and meet on one side. One person gets the midair kill, then move to the other side and let the other person get it. Capture the flag once to win, repeat 20 times.

do you have to be in a flying vehicle as well? or a ground vehicle or just on the ground running around?

This is actually quite easy to get with Novice bots on. just jump in the Raptor, fly over to the opposing base and wait for a bot to jump in a Raptor and come after you. Just in case you don't have a friend with UT3.

I did this on CTF Suspense with novice bots. Just rush to the raptor and wait for an enemy to get in than shoot it with the missile(left trigger) until you kill it. I also went for the bullseye achievement and in 20 quick games was 20 gamerscore richer.

Start a mutiplayer game and a map with flying vehicles (VCTF, Sandstorm) with another controller or friend. Then get the other player to fly in the air and leave it. Get your character and fly up and shoot the other player/controller in the air. Do this 19 more times in different matches.
