How to unlock the Party Like It's 1999! achievement in Use Your Words - Definitive Guide
Not sure exactly how many there are in one game, but I'd guess 7-8, so 250+ games. Yes, it is a grind.
This is my method for doing this semi-afk:
Download TinyTask (I'm a Windows user) and start it up. You'll need Continous playback and Play Speed: Fast. You can change the Record and Play hotkeys too if you want.
Open 3 browser windows. I had IE, Firefox and Chrome going. One on the left, two on the right, so the browsers cover the entire screen. I removed as many menus as I could.
Start the game and enter with three players, one in each browser. Now, I used ctrl - to zoom out, in all browsers. Why? Well, because you want the on screen buttons to appear in the exact same spot every time. If an answer is too long, it might use up two rows on screen, forcing the VOTE button to move downwards.
Start a game and wait for the first question to come up. Use any method to mark the spots where the House Decoy-buttons are. I used tape. The House Decoy button let's you skip writing an answer (thus, making this solution possible.) Next click all three buttons and get ready for the final set up.
Once the game has shown all answers, the players get to vote for a favorite answer. This is your TinyTask record screen. So click the Start Recording button on the TinyTask bar and click the three marked spots (the House Decoy spots.) Do this SLOWLY. TinyTask will go fast anyway, and if you go too fast TinyTask might screw up.
Next, click TWO voting options in one of the browsers, and the VOTE button underneath. We click two, because your own answer will be greyed out and made unclickable. Next do the same for browser no 2 and 3.
Stop recording (same hotkey as start.)
You're done. Save your recording. I've had issues when it comes to the save/load function in TinyTask, but it saves alot of time when it works. Just make sure you don't move any browsers around. My pc always remembered the last position of the windows upon reboot.
IMPORTANT!
Underneath the VOTE button there is a link. It says Having trouble?
Make sure you DO NOT PASS THIS LINE when recording. If you do, chances are that TinyTask might click on it by accident. (Yes, it will.)
Now, all you have to do is click restart on your xbox controller once the game is finished. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Unfortunately, atm, the game crashes after 3-5 games. Hopefully there will be an update in the future.
Have fun, live long and prosper
Working great so far. Only another 92ish hours to go.
Round 1: Sub The Title
Round 2: Extra! Extra!
Round 3: Blank O Matic
Round 4: Sub The Title
Round 5: Extra! Extra!
Round 6: Blank O Matic
Final Round: Survey Says
This will take you 285 full games and 4 mini games into 286. However the game likes to crash repeatedly every few games. Thankfully achievement progress carries over. Each game takes around 15-20 minutes depending on how fast you answer and vote. Some games will be longer due to bad luck with Sub The Title getting long clips. You will find out very quickly that the game lacks variety and you will see every possible prompt multiple times.
This is going to the be the last trophy you will get before your platinum (at least it should be). In each regular Party Game there is a total of 7 mini-games (Sub The Title, Blank-O-Matic, Extra Extra! each twice and then the final Survey Says), meaning that you will have to play 286 total game in order to reach the 1999 mini-games required for the trophy. In other words, this is an absolutely insane grind of a trophy and is what will probably keep most people from obtaining the platinum. Once you do grind your way through all the required 1999 mini-games, then the trophy will be yours.
This achievement will make or break your completion of this game. To unlock it, you need to play a cumulative total of 1999 minigames. Every match consists of 6 minigames and then another 3 during the finale. So 9 minigames per match means you're looking at 222 matches to unlock this achievement. With each match taking a solid 20 minutes while you wait for it to slowly progress, that's around 75 hours of game time. With the majority of the achievements obtained within the first 5 hours, you're looking at a massive and boring grind to get this last achievement.
There unfortunately isn't any way to speed this up or idle it. The only thing you can do is play matches with the minimum number of participants (three) to minimize the amount of time spent viewing responses. Good luck on maintaining the dedication and patience for this achievement.
