The earliest you can grab this is on the second stage, Inlaid Library, by heading to the right for a few minutes.
It is recommended to save this for after you unlock the 3rd stage, however, as you will unlock a permanent map that reveals items in every level there.

I'm waiting to claim this one until I have almost everything else completed. It's a crap item and I don't want it affecting my pool.

On the level Inlaid Library, simply move rightwards until you see the mask, as it looks in the achievement icon, floating between two bookcases on the top of the level. It's not hidden, it's just a long way to the right.

The first place you'll be able to find and pick up a Stone Mask is on Stage 2. One always spawns on the map on the right side of the level, at the top of the screen. Once you acquire the Milky Way Map relic on Stage 2, you'll get a map when you pause the game. Do so on Stage 2 and you'll be able to see the Stone Mask on the right that you can then track down and pick up.
