How to unlock the Speed achievement in Vancouver 2010 - Definitive Guide

Most important thing: go into first-person view by pressing B. It will make the timing of the button presses a lot easier, as you will get a Rock Band style meter.

You don't even have to win, so in the corners, try to stay in the middle of the path. You will have less risk to hit the wall or go out-of-bounds.

Once you get to five laps remaining, you will get into the sprint section. You will have to mash the A button until the end. Note that you have to press fast at all to keep full speed.

I have pressed B, but cannot see this meter you speak of anywhere. I fail after ~10s regardless of what I try... please advise. Thanks.

If anyone’s still plugging away for this achievement (and I very much doubt it), you have to mash A at the start while negotiating the first bend. Only after the first turn and picking up enough speed will the “Rock Band” Style instructions appears. Good luck, it too me a few frustrating tries...

The top challenge in the easy mountain. Once you hit 30km/h, you have to maintain that or higher until the end of the race. This is basically a test to see how well you can execute the tap for the left and right meter of the straight-away. Turn on 1st-Person view. Take your time on turns and complete the race. You do NOT need to win the race, just complete it.

You won't be able to get this until you have a firm comfort level on the tap- mini game, and you will need to be quite good at this for future challenges, so keep at it until it is second nature to you.
