How to unlock the My Shelter is my Castle achievement in Vigor - Definitive Guide
Aim for the upgrades that take the least amount of time to complete like 10 sec, 1 min, 5 min, 10 min, 20 min and 1 hour.
For example there are 4 Box of Herbs, 4 Rat Traps and 4 Box of Plants upgrades - upgrading each of those 4 to 5th or 6th level each should put you on around 60-72 upgrades meaning you can split remaining 25-35 upgrades into first 2-4 levels of 9 other improvements without wasting too much time.
Personally I'd say avoid grinding resources for Electric Generator when going for this achievement as it's first upgrade takes 6 hours and requires and whole bunch of resources that you could easily spend on other improvements that require less time and resources to complete. Yes I'm aware it would let you do 2 improvements at once but honestly it's just much easier to manage 1 improvement at a time but again this comes down to personal preference and how are you with managing your time when waiting for those upgrades to finish.
Below I've added 2 pictures of fully repaired Shelter which looks super nice compared to a broken down Shack you were given at the start of the game

I will first start off with saying I got help from DONxTACOS and MassarakSH25 for the tactics of grabbing resources.
DONxTACOS: “I just went into the matches with only a knife and went for the resources I needed to upgrade (in lone wolf mode). Avoid the main areas of conflict (barred house/ timed safe, weapons box/ weapon crate, signal detector)”
MassarakSH25: The tactic is simple. Go in, quickly gather resources and quickly exit. Do it again.”
It’s best to have headphones that you can hear well with and make sure to go into your xbox settings and to not have “mono tone audio” on because you won’t be able to hear when an enemy is on your right and when is on your left individually like it’s you irl looting and trying to survive. You also want to keep the default clothes on because they blend well with everything and you’d be surprised how blind people are when you have these clothes on when you have to prone and hide for a few seconds or minutes.
Sometimes people will or you can boost a thing called “more loot” that cost irl money to do before the game starts and when this happens you wanna try to stay alive and loot as much as possible because it’s increased recourses.
You also want to do your daily and seasonal quests for resources and common, uncommon, and resource crates.
Finally, these are the maps that give you certain recourses and where to get them at
”FJELLKANTEN”:
“Goat Shepherd” for fertilizer, most i got from here without a boost is 83 in like 3 minutes then i escaped
“Abandoned Retreat” for fertilizer
”BRODALEN BRIDGES”:
“Central Plantation” for fertilizer
“Southern Plantation” for fertilizer
“Solbergs Ranch” for fertilizer
“Maeghans Grove” for fertilizer, most i’ve gotten from one run of going to all of these is 120
MAKE SURE TO LOOK IN THE FIELDS FULL OF PLANTS FOR FERTILIZER AS WELL NOT JUST BESIDE THE BUILDINGS
“Campsite” for chemicals
”ANIKKEN”:
The red shed on the eastern side of the map for fertilizer(sometimes Signal spawns there) it’s at the coordinates H5, make sure to look all around here for fertilizer but be careful cause sometimes people are there
“Lighthouse” for glass, inside is a lot of glass so just go all the way up until you collect it all and the exit is right next to it so you can leave really quick
“KJERSTIN”:
“Bliff Manor” for fertilizer
“Eplehage” for fertilizer
“Forest Nursery no. 193” for fertilizer
“Vannkraftverk” (Dam) for chemicals but be careful because people are always near here
“SAGBRUK”:
“Forest Nursery” for fertilizer
“Fishermen's Settlement” for fertilizer
”BATTERIE DRAUG”:
“Ponds” for fertilizer and chemicals
“Logging Area” for fertilizer, electronics, nails
“Motel” for fertilizer, gas, electronics, nails, wire, and chemicals
“Military Base” for fertilizer, gas, electronics, nails, wire, metal parts
”VIKTORSEN STATION”:
“Warehouse” for glass, most i’ve gotten without a boost is 80
DVERG FOREST:
“Jack Sete” for glass
“Olaf's farm” for glass
“Mountain Lake” for glass
“Fjell Hotel” for glass
“Haakons Inn” for glass
Tips:
Fertilizer will be outside of houses, farms, and sometimes in houses and sheds but very rarely. Gas will be near cars, in cars, and in locked boxes inside garages and houses and sheds(they’re blue). Electronics will be in cars, inside houses in refrigerators, in electrical boxes outside of houses (they’re blue), in hidden caches, and in locked boxes inside garages and houses and sheds (they’re blue). Nails will be in cars, in garages, and in locked boxes inside garages and houses and sheds (they’re blue). Wire will be in cars, in garages, in hidden caches, and in locked boxes in garages and houses and sheds (they’re blue). Metal Parts will be in cars, in garages, and in locked boxes in garages and houses and sheds (they’re blue). Chemicals will be near water and in hidden caches. Glass will be inside houses in cabinets and drawers on snow maps mostly from what i’ve seen, in cars, and in hidden caches.

To fully repair your Shelter you will need to reach Shelter level XIII (13) by completing 97 improvements. Completing your first improvement will unlock "Good Foundation." Upon reaching Shelter level VII (7) by completing 26 improvements, you will unlock "Home Improvement." Leveling up your Shelter will take a bit of time and a lot of resources, so focus on the improvements that take less resources and less time (10 secs, 1-20mins, 1 hour).
For example, the Box of Herbs, Rat Traps, and Box of Plants can be upgraded 5-6 times for a relative small amount of time and resources. Reaching level 5-6 of these improvements, along with upgrading other improvements should get you to around 60+ improvements completed. Now focus on leveling up other improvements to level 2-4 to reach 98 total improvements.
The Electric Generator improvement is tempting, as it allows you to complete two upgrades at a time; however, the improvement takes 6 hours and a lot of valuable resources to complete. The time and resources are better put to use leveling up the cheaper/faster improvements.
Your resources will primarily be gained from looting during encounters and by securing supply crates. Supply crates and resources can be gained from completing daily challenges too. Metal parts are the only resource that can be passively earned from improvements (Scrap Bin, unlockable at Shelter level XI (11)).
