Vikings: Wolves of Midgard

There is a small bypass of the system. When a character dies, the save from the last checkpoint is overwritten. There seem to be three of them in total (but this is not accurate). We exit the game, delete the last save of the character we need . And then, upon entering, the game loads you to the penultimate save checkpoint. It is likely that this can be done by loading it in the game itself, but I have not tested this.
