Go through the King of players tournament twice and win the first three opponents then King appears. You dont have to beat him to unlock achievement and King character.

Win the king of players tournament for a second time. He will then be your opponent. Beat him to unlock.

When your in Pro mode right at the top, you will get a message saying about a tournament (King of Players Tournament). Win the tournament and beat King to unlock him.
