How to unlock the 40 Consecutive Rallies achievement in Virtua Tennis 3 - Definitive Guide
To get this achievement you have to hit the ball back to the other player 40 times in the same round, this does not mean you have to hit it 20 times and the opponent hits it 20 times, you have to hit the ball 40 times yourself (not including a serve). This is easily doable in single player. I would suggest doing it in a friendly match rather than a tournament (where you play against a pro player you met in a tourney, or someone you partnered with). You should use X to hit the ball rather than A, and always aim towards the opponent, so they can defiantly hit it back. The achievement will unlock at the end of that round (i.e. when the ball goes out of play). Either that, or I just happened to hit exactly 40 shots when I got this.

Another good tip, just to complement: facing an opponent pretty fast, like Nadal, to make sure he got the ball to return.

It pops in the middle, you were just lucky for it to time out...as soon as you complete the 40th volley it will pop.

Just hit the ball back to the player on the other side and try to get to the ball when they hit it, make sure not to move you joystick in any direction so that the ball does not go in any direction. Also make sure that you don’t wind up to early because then you may just hit it by him.
