How to unlock the Unlocked King achievement in Virtua Tennis 3 - Definitive Guide

From the main menu choose Tournament mode. Change the tournament settings to very easy and one game per match. Defeat all opponents without losing a point untill you get to the finals. In this game make sure the score gets to deuce then win the game and you'll get a chance to play against King. Just defeat him to unlock the player and the achievement. If you're having trouble beating him just remember to press start and select try again, the match restarts at 0-0 so you can try as many times as you want.

As for methods to beat king, i suggest you don't move you character, keep him in the default server position, and try to do a max cross serve. King will always return it sloppy to the opposite side you are (you start on right, in his parallel. You keep crossing the ball as deep and strong as you can (press forward and left/right + A) and he will keep hitting parallel.
Even though you can predict his movement, not always you will be able to counter his shots. A weak shot you hit will trigger him to change his pattern and beat you. Try again, keep at it, it can be frustrating. Try to identify this patterns and you will defeat him rather easily, playing as you normally would will make it very hard to beat him.

In any case it's sort of the arcade mode of the game. It's the game mode that you would play when you play the game in an arcade hall.

To unlock him in the final stage use Van Uden's guide which explains the method to play him well. When you are serving the best shot you can use against him is a weak shot with the Y button towards the outside of the court. The reason for doing this is that he will hit the ball in a vertical line which means that you can get in position in time. From here you should then hit the ball as hard as you can with a cross court shot. It is possible to win the point from this shot alone but if not then keep hitting cross court as you are almost guaranteed to win the point eventually.
With his play method he will almost always hit it down the outside line which makes it easier to beat him cross-court but will occasionally hit a cross court shot if you are standing in the middle of the court too much or if you hit the ball directly to him from a corner.

Change your tournament settings to "very easy" and "one game" in the game settings menu. Play through and defeat each opponent until you get to the final round (right after the cinema of your player walking through the tunnel to the court). In this final match, win the first three points so that the score is 40-0, YOU MUST LOSE the next three points to get the game to Deuce. Simply win the next two points and you'll get to match up with King.
