To unlock this achievement, follow these instructions:
Step 1. Find a boosting partner. Either...
- Look for an active Gaming Session.
- Create a New Gaming Session.
- Or message players from the Virtua Tennis 3 Boost List.
Step 2. Find the Ranked Menu and Play!
- Select Xbox LIVE from the Main Menu.
- Select Ranked Match, Match.
- Select a player and search.
Step 3. Achievements!
- Allow one player to win 5 matches for 5 Consecutive Ranked Wins
- Now swap roles. The second player should unlock Won Ranked Match Player Rank +25
- Once the second player has won 5 games in a row, alternate roles again, so the first player can unlock Won Ranked Match Player Rank +25
Notes:
- To make matches quicker, have the losing team quit after one point.
- The servers in this game are awful. If you are not matching up after 30 seconds, have both teams back out and search again.
- Note that you should both get to 40 Ranked Singles Wins. The final 10 wins for 50 Ranked Wins should be done in Doubles for 10 Co-Op Doubles Ranked Wins.

How do you become a rival? I've tried twice now and can't get the achievement to pop.

Basically the same strategy as the doubles achievement, you can try to beat them but the people who are still playing on Live are really good and have the game down. You could just sit there while on your serve and when they leave you will win.
