How to unlock the Online Master achievement in Virtua Tennis 4 - Definitive Guide

MAJOR thanks to LLC2003, who has provided most, if not all of the actual statistics for this!

First off, it doesn't seem like playing ranked matches really ranks you up any faster than player matches, so stick to player matches.

Secondly, you'll want to set the matches to six games, five sets. It's the games and sets you win that determines how much experience you get. Alternately, three games of five sets is suggested to keep them at about an hour per game.

Once it starts, the returner wins the game in most cases, as there is an unskippable cutscene if you score an ace.. Once the set is 5-5, have one person win 7-5 to move onto the next set. Alternate who wins 7-5 to drag the game out longer.

By the end of the match, both players should have around 330 experience for six games, 184 for three.

The alternative is to find a boosting partner, set up a private match, and just leave the game running while the two of you do anything else. After ten seconds, the game will autoserve, essentially playing itself.

A rank is reached at 8050 XP. An estimated 15-20 hours is required for this achievement for actively boosting. Roughly 25 hours is needed if you simply set up the game and let it autoserve after ten seconds.

So how exactly do you set up passive boosting?

Well, it's not like I can take claim for your work. Excellent to know about the passive boosting, I've added that to the guide!

Unfortunately, not at the moment. The most I've heard right now is that once you hit the C ranks, leveling slows down considerably. I haven't been able to boost myself recently, so I'm not anywhere near as close as I would like to give anything definitive.

Best guess, you'll probably get the achievement for 10 hours of online time going for this. I'll update the solution once I've got a better idea of exactly how long it should take.

Correct. For some reason I thought I had updated the guide with that, but I haven't. Thanks for pointing that out.

If you only get 184xp per hour that will take 43 hours of boosting but you say you got it in 25 hours. How did you do that

For a indication of how much it slows down in the B ranks, I started double boxing when at B5 with a new account, that account made it to B4 by the time I had finished.

by passive boosting are you refering to finding a player thats going to do the same as you and just say watch tv for the hour aswell so then basically the computer is serving aces for each player until the match is won?

Late to the party but I did this some years ago on PS3 with a friend and now doing it on X360: We do a 5-set match with 6 games per set and most importantly no tie-break. Match ends 6-5,5-6,6-5,5-6,6-5. The difference to the solution is that we keep the game running using the auto serve without actively playing. After 5 seconds idling, your player serves automatically and scores an ace.

It's unfortunate that every ace gets an instant replay which makes it longer than necessary. But the big advantage is that you can let the game run and watch TV, read a book or do something else. It takes roughly 1h45 minutes for one 5 set match with the above settings (=303XP). Make sure that your connection is stable, preferably with an Ethernet cable, plug your controller in so that it doesnt go idle and turn off auto-shutdown. Then you are set.

Got it 01/13/2022. Servers still up by this time. clap

This hateful achievement is definitely the bitch of the bunch. At the time of writing only 14 people have it and I'm about a day away from getting it myself.

Ranked matches score very slightly higher EXP than private but involve a bit more faffing about/dealing with randoms.

In private matches you get 7xp for winning a game, 6xp for losing. Set a private match to six games, five sets and both players should walk away with 300+xp each.

There's no quick and easy way to nab this achievement and it will take DAYS to obtain it. You can't really speed things up but you can avoid slowing them down.

Serving aces forces a replay, so if you're boosting, make sure the returner gets the wins. Turn off tie-breakers.

The achv pops at rank A5. Be warned, leveling up slows down considerably in the B ranks.

The most time consuming Trophy of all - You will start your online career at XP level G5 and you will need to work your way up the alphabet and take the numbers from 5 down to 1. When you get to level A5 the Trophy will pop.
It’s literally just a matter of time before you get this Trophy as all online gaming will give you some sort of XP, even if you lose. You will need a total of 8050xp in order to reach rank A5 - credit stuart1044.
A way of not even trying, but will take you ages, is to get onto the Network screen and just keep pressing . This will take you in and out of games and play, without you getting kicked. This will take a long time however, so be prepared to do this every evening for a week or two.....
For Boosting read below:

Here's how you progress through the rankings:
G5, G4, G3, G2, G1, F5, F4, F3, F2, F1, ... ... ... A5, A4, A3, A2, A1 (A5 is enough for Rank A ).

You gain XP whether you win or lose a game:
Friendly match: 6xp per won game and 5xp per lost game (tx dudevid)
Ranked game: 7xp per won game and 6xp per lost game (tx boris)

So make a Friendly match of 5 sets & 6 games without tie-breaker and conclude with a score of 6-5/5-6/6-5/5-6/6-5. Both of you will get over 300 points. The match lasts at least 50 minutes so it may be wise to play only 2 or 3 sets instead, in case you lose your connection (tx nsync).

You can grind either actively or passively (credits Dudevid).
1/ Passive grinding (the match lasts around 1hr 50m but you do not have to do anything):
Don't do anything. The players will serve automatically after 10 seconds and the match will end in 1hr 50m (approx).
Each set lasts around 22m with auto serve.

2/ Active grinding - 1st method (lasts less than 1hr):
Just throw aces.

3/ Active grinding - 2nd method (lasts less than 50m):
Speed things up by skipping the "replay" video after each point. To do this, instead of making aces, let your opponent win the point. Why? Because if you make an ace, it triggers the replay. If your opponent wins the point by just pressing , there's no replay.
A 5-Set match goes down from over an hour to less than 50m.
