If you really suck at getting 1st place on these type of games, you can just make a private lobby by yourself and let the 10 minute timer run out, it will count as if you won the match, do this 9 more times and you are good to go. Note that you could get kicked out for inactivity, so just use a rubber band with one of the sticks to avoid it.
Also, I'm pretty sure it might work for the other 2 gametypes, haven't tested it yet

How do you know if you have set up a private lobby correctky? The game doesn't do a good job telling you. I made a ffa match saying make private, but then after 7 minutes people started joining!

Set to private game then go to setting and turn off allow mid game joining

Thank you Sean. Thumbs up on the solution. This works like a charm.

It was a great solution for an achievement that could of been difficult but looks like there is an even quicker way that will take ten mins for two people this way would take best part of two hours

What's a 'Win'? Do you get a win if you end up 5th? I'm asking this because I got 5th and I appeared to be on the Hall of Fame at the end of the game.

I would also like to point out that players with a turbo controller is better of rubber banding the A button (jump). This way you can literally be doing something ells for a 100+ min since the A button will also be pressing start for the next match to start.

Where do I go to set up a private lobby? I have no Idea.

@Feend: Head in to versus, select a channel followed by create game. From there you can make a private match and if you go in to room settings you can turn off mid game joining.

Just so you know you can just get the enemy team to "return to lobby" and it'll give you the win. No need to wait 10 minutes :) More like 10 seconds.

As a side note, if your achievement doesn't unlock but it says you have it under "profile". Then reload your game and check your profile again. It should unlock when you look at the achievement tab.

Funny, considering the name of the achievement: "Better Off Alone"

Not sure what triplewitching is talking about, this still works as of 9-1-14. Got all 3 game mode achievements solo.

This does not work one player anymore, you have to have a boosting partner for it now
I hate boosting so much, but its just not happening any other way.
