How to unlock the Bug Out Ride achievement in Warframe - Definitive Guide

Velocipods are large dragonfly looking creatures roaming around the Cambion Drift at ground level. To ride them, all you have to do is approach them and press X. They are not hostile, so no worries there. They have no lures, but do seem to have a few decently reliable spawn points and they typically spawn in groups.

My farming spot is to towards the coast by the Cerebrum Magna and about halfway to the Actuary. I've been reliably finding groups of two or three by the coast south of Infested Seraglio. Once you find them, ride and then capture each one. (It will not count more then once per even if you ride it multiple times.)

Important notes
You do not need to leave the map to get them to respawn, but it may be faster to run a route, go back to the hub, and repeat.
It also appears that going into the Drift with a bounty active decreases the chance of wildlife spawns significantly. Best to not try and multitask while going for this.

Edit: As Mr. Whiteshirt pointed out in the comments, the tranq gun doesnt highlight these guys (as of right now) so it is only useful for the zoom.

There are 3 colors of the dragonflies, but the “white” and the “green” ones both looked like shades of neon blue. The “purple” looked like a Barbie pink. Very hard to miss.

Initially flew around for 2 hrs trying to farm them out. Only found 6. Then decided to rezone after each lap and scooped the last 14 in less than 30 mins.

Used this dude’s map.

Also, there is correlation with the worms and which ones spawn and where. So once you find a spawn, rezone and it will probably be repopulated unless the giant world worms switched.

Lastly, set your world / instance to solo / private so you don’t have to compete with other players hunting for them.

These hang pretty low to the ground (thus how you can ride them). My dumbass spent maybe 15 minutes scanning high up before I realized that

No worries, it's all on me since logistically it wouldn't make sense to grapple them while in an elytra hahalaugh

I was using the other guides out there unsuccessfully when I finally found this video from 2020 that worked like a charm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q_O2SKPee0

Unless you're determined to unlock this achievement immediately, you will certainly get it over time if you visit the Cambion Drift for other achievements or challenges. Every time I go there I spot at least 6 velocipods without even looking for them.
It's so funny that more members have completed all the Corpus nodes in Railjack than have ridden 20 Velocipods.

I didn't have that kind of luck, but it is possible its been reworked or I just had bad luck. I know a few people that were also having issues finding them, so I figured it would help.

2024 spawns are still pretty sparse if you're actually looking for these critters. Finding 1 or 2 areas they are spawning in your particular worm cycle and k-boarding back to the necrolisk and doing a lap up to where mother is helped them spawn (somewhat) frequently. Took almost 2 hours of dedicated searching though!

I would also add the following:

1) The tranq rifle does not highlight these guys like other capturable animals in the game.
2) They tend to be around water ways more often than not.
3) You may need to capture other animals first to force spawn these guys onto the map as well.
4) Sometimes it is better to leave the map then come back to reset spawns if you have spent more than 10 minutes looking.

Velocypods have their own habitat. They are also not considered animals, so they cannot be found through the scanner on the tranquilizer gun. You can farm them by flying back and forth from the cave where you go to the Drift and to the “Big Brain” area. Groups of 2-3 insects will appear in the vicinity of the Brain, the groups will be of random colors.

Also below is a “hunter’s guide”, but I don’t think that the color of the velocipods is determined by the terrain. Purely random.
