How to unlock the Wide Awake achievement in Wargroove 2 - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you need to kill the the last boss of every conquest map on a single save. When you win you get a medal that is show just like in the campaign menu under the level selection and base on the difficulty it's iron silver or gold.

I will assume you dont have any upgrade for this guide so that you dont have to farm 100s of jewel. Just the first commander that you can buy is dark mercia who can make winning less rng dependent.

When you launch a run the game randomly generate combat base on a seed that you cannot controle or see.

First you will need to choose a commander, here you have two strat rushing or camping ether way you will need a strong commander.

Then you need to choose troup for your army this is also rng dependent but you can see them. The best troup is mage and archer because archer shoot from distance and do critical hit if they didnt move during there turn before an attack, and mage that are the most valuable torup in this mode because they can heal up to 5 troup and in a rogue-like game where every hp is importante being able to heal is extremely important and even more in hard mode. Remember every troup that die is forever gone and cant come back. You can always geet some back but it's more important to heal and survive than hoping you get more after.

I will now explaine two strategy that work and you can try one or another base on what troup you get and what combat you are in.

Camping strategy :

To camp you will need to use "Emeric" as your commander, he have the fastest charging groove in the game. Is groove summon a giant red cristal that block 20% of all damage in a 5x5 zone every troup can stack whit forest or montain protection to go to 50% damage reduction. By using this commander your army can take a lot of punch as long as there suporting by a mage.

Now for your army you need two spear or two archer and a mage for it to be perfect, but if you can find sworman of any type it's ok to begin but you might not do enouth damage to win without a death in your rank. If you have two spear man you can put them side by side and every hit or conter hit will be a critical one dealing 2time more damage.
If you dont have a lot of soldier you can use one or two archer in the back to finish the ennemis or shoot from far aways giving you a free hit on them. If you dont move your archer during your turn they will do critical hit.
Mage do critical hit every time they attack from a montain ground if they standing on it.

Whit you army you will spawn in a random corner of the map and you need to find a spot where you can put your troop cloose to one another in a 3x3 square protecting your mage and commander whit your spear.
You need to find the most protected zone, the mountain is the best whit 40% damage reduction and the mage will do critical hit, then the forest for 30% damage reduction. If your troup are not in one of them well you might want to, i know a lot of the map will not let you camp but you can split your army in two and make sure you are not oneshot the next turn.
The best place to camp is a mountain or a forest close to a river because the river make every troup inside take 20% more damage. By using this strat you can take 1.5time less damage and deal 1.2time more.
If you have spear man put them in the first line taking damage and dealing more.
If you have archer put them in the back and dont move them you need to get critical hit unless it's the last ennemis and you can win.

the formation look like this whit :
S= spearman C= commander M=mage A=archer the _ _ _ line are to separate them:
S_S_S
__M__
A_C_A

Then when your troop have made enouth damage you can use your goove to get the 20% damage reduction in is zone. The cristal loose 25% of is health every turn making it last 4 but you can heal it whit your mage to last more.
In the begining of the run healing whit your mage will cost you 150 gold every map but you should win 200for a wining fight. After kiling the first boss you have 33% chance of having the half health price as a upgrade costing only 75gold.
After killing the charging army you will have only archer to kill if the AI was smart and stay far. Use your commander for killing them. try to always stay inside a forest tile and dont be afraid a passing your turn if the ennemis is oneshot if you want to heal more. The hardest combat are the boss but the arena is not random and if you loose you can try another position or whit more troop.
When you are on the map dont bother whit shop unless you have the potion and healing upgrade, go for the "?" tile it's the best zone of the game, some are combat than you are force to spend money on to skip and some are free healing zone or free troop zone or free chest. This "?" tile save me a lot of run a without it you will be to weak to kill the last boss.

quick note you can also use "Mercia" commander is power is healing 30% of the health of every troup in a 5x5 shape it's strong if you dont have mage but is slow to charge so you cannot use is groove every fight. If you take her you better strat is to wait boss to rush and heal after the charge to minimis lost troop.

Rushing statery :

To rush you will need to do a lot of damage so that the ennemis will not be able to attack back, the best commander here is "dark mercia" for two thing first is groove taking 30% of the total health of every ennemis in a 4x4 zone and healing you by 30%, then the pasive buff for your troup dealing 1.5 more damage for the swordman and spearman.

If you want you can also use nadia who deal 20% health damage in a 4x4 zone and puting fire on the ground dealing aditional 10% every turn for 4 turn, but you cant heal and the floor will be on fire that can hit even your troop so it's your choice.

After taking your commander you will need to choise some troop for your army here the obvious choice is spear man and swordman.
To oneshot the ennemis you need to do critical hit on them for the spear man you need to have them side by side (two spearman) and hit the ennemis deling 2time more damage. For the sworman you need them to be side by side whit your commander.

To rush you need in the first turn of the fight to place you commander one tile from the ennemis (he will not attack) and move one swordman between the ennemis and you, the 1.5x damage passive bonus plus the critical hit can do about 60% of a boss and elite troup but will oneshot anyone exepte them, if you can place your swordman inside a forest it's better for the 30% damage reduction.
To continue the rush you need to advance the spear man to the ennemis the first one will not attack and the seconde one will, so that the first one dont take damage. Again whit the critical hit and passiv bonus the ennemis should die.
after that the ennemis will start to aproch and you will take some hit. Just attack again you the fight should end here.
The rushing strategy is very dangerous because if the ennemis didn't die you are expose, that why i said to put your commander behind and use is healing ability to survive longer.
If you can find a mage you are invincible because he can heal up to 5 troop every turn for 20% of their total hp for 150gold. After kiling the first boss you have 33% chance of having the half health price as a upgrade costing only 75gold.

The boss are really hard to rush because of multiple long range unit but if you can kill him whit a "sacrificial swordman" you should win in two turn just not that the harder the difficulty the more the ennemis are gonna try to kill your commander first so the rush might get you kill in 2 turn. so it's a high risk high rewarde situation.

On the map you should try to find as mutch "recrutment building" as possible to buy more spear and sword man.

If you dont want to play the two strategy at once just quit and restarts you will have another random commander and troops making you play the strategy that you like. This guide is how i do it not how you will do it. A lot of rng bullshit kill me and sometime the fight wasn't remotely fair but it's the game. Try to buy some upgrade and the "?" event should have more thing for you and more heal. you will need to choose between more troop or more heal every run so make your choice and win whit it!

Good luck.

How do you unlock the additional conquest maps to play on? I beat the first map but no others unlocked.

EDIT: I see now - use crystals on the middle path of the golden treasure chest to unlock them. First one for Felheim shows up after unlocking Pistil leader.
