How to unlock the Long Bomb achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Definitive Guide
There are various points across different levels where this is doable, but in general you want to be looking for a specific situation:
Anywhere you can stand on a ledge before a "no way back" drop that leads to a big expansive area and has enemy spawn spots you can aim a grenade toss at. The 'without it bouncing' thing means that you have to toss it in such a way that it will detonate without ever hitting the ground (I've heard that the grenade is timed to five seconds after toss) so try to throw for max distance and aim up a bit for a big curvy trajectory.

To add to this, use the original grenade, not the flak for it has a longer timer. You can get the upgraded version of your original grenade with a shorter delay.

Seconding Healtti -- Ascension Riser is the way to go. Start with the base grenade (remove traits if you have to, I know at least the "Sticky", center trait, grenade has a MUCH longer timer than the base grenade). Play a game of Ascension Riser on the highest level you can (the higher the level, the more targets). I did mine on Damnation (5). Stand on the first barricade before the first enemies, lob all three grenades into the crowd, and if you don't get the achievement, quit out of the match and start a new one. Within 3-4 games you'll have the grenade timing/distance down and hopefully luck on your side...

I tried everything to get this to pop. But what did work was when a swarm of enemies surrounded me I threw the grenade directly up into the air. Just look up and throw it directly straight up, by the time it comes down it will explode before hitting the ground.

I cannot seem to get this to work -- the grenade always explodes slightly above the crowd, not damaging anybody. Any advice?

Answering my own question -- the problem is I had the "Sticky" grenade perk, aka the center option of the grenade traits, which has an EXTREMELY long range/fuse time (something like five seconds, which is much longer than it sounds). Tossing a "Sticky" grenade straight up will cause the grenade to detonate above the mobs unfortunately.
To fix, I simply removed all my traits and used the base grenade which has a much shorter fuse time (and thus, a much shorter range). As a bonus, you get three grenades, not two, so you get an extra attempt per grenade batch you pick up.
Got the achievement within 2-3 runs after removing my traits.
