How to unlock the Bibliophiliac achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr - Definitive Guide

This guide is accurate at the time of publish, there have been a number of changes to the game since launch, most notably the 2.0 update, future updates may change how to unlock some of these skill trees.

Most skill trees are unlocked via completing Heroic Deeds. These are completed on an account basis and not character. Meaning if you deal 500k Ranged damage with your Heavy Gunner, the Ranged Combat tree will be unlocked for your Aetherwalker when you start one from scratch as well.

Additionally, each subclass has 4 skill trees unlocked from the beginning with others only a level requirement to reach. By simply creating a class and reaching the required level, this does not unlock the skill tree for other classes, you must meet the requirement to complete the Heroic Deed before it becomes available. For this reason, you might have Ranged Combat unlocked but still get a notification to say the Ranged Combat skill tree is now unlocked after reaching 500k damage. You can view the Heroic Deeds needed to complete from the menu ingame.

There is no advantage to picking one class over another for the purposes of getting this achievement.

Most of the feats have another achievement tied to them, however tracking for the achievement differs from the Deed! While you can dashboard out of the game and increase your achievement progress, the Deed does not progress until you complete the mission and return to the Command Deck. Keep this in mind as to whether want to simply get the other achievements or this one.

Full list of skill trees:

Melee Combat (Astartes Combat Training) - Deal 500k Melee damage
Easy enough, if you're a melee focused character. Will naturally progress towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrRelentless SlaughterThe Relentless Slaughter achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 84 pointsKill 5000 enemies with melee skills.

Ranged Combat (Scion Sniper Training) - Deal 500k Ranged damage
Easy enough, if you're a ranged focused character. Will naturally progress towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrRanged AvengerThe Ranged Avenger achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 57 pointsKill 5000 enemies with ranged skills.

Note, while Psyker abilities such as Inferno are ranged, they do not count towards this.

Single DPS (Enhanced Corpus) - Kill 250 Champion enemies
Will come naturally and progress towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrReaperThe Reaper achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 23 pointsKill 250 Champion enemies.

Area Effects (Krieg Support Doctrines) - Kill 2.5k Horde enemies
Will come naturally and progress towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrVerminslayerThe Verminslayer achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 19 pointsKill 2500 Horde type enemies.

Physical Attacks (Anatomical Knowledge) - Kill 50 Commander enemies
Will come naturally and progress towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrWhere It HurtsThe Where It Hurts achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 34 pointsKill 50 Commander enemies.

Reminder: As with others, progress towards the Deed only counts after you successfully complete the mission, as opposed to the achievement tracker. If you kill a Commander then fail the mission, it will count towards the achievement, but not the Heroic Deed.

Critical Hits (Art of the Death Cults) - Deal 1M Damage
Will come naturally.

Damage over Time (Venemum Toxin Mastery) - Deal with 50 Traps
This is a tricky one. The achievement tracker tied to this one works differently to the Deed.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrCheating DeathThe Cheating Death achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 30 pointsDeal with 50 traps.

Where the achievement tracks if you destroy skulls, blow up mines, open trapped chests, etc, however this Deed only seems to progress if you trigger a skull/tripwire trap first. Even then, you don't see progress awarded to the Deed until after the mission is successfully complete and you're back on the Command Deck. Recommend any skull trap you see, trigger it then destroy it afterwards to count for both the achievement and the Deed. Try and keep this in mind as you progress through the game rather than try to mop up later. Works across multiple characters too, don't need all 50 on just the one. Outside of campaign missions, there is no way to guarantee a skull/tripwire trap, just keep an eye out as you play.

Heat Attacks (Phosphoenic Rites) - Blow up 50 explodable containers
Progresses towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrDemolisherThe Demolisher achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 28 pointsBlow up 250 explosive containers.

While the achievement wants 250, you only need 50 for the Deed. As with the others, its only tracked after a successful mission. The only containers that count are the ones that have the LB+RB tooltip on them. You don't need to hit LB+RB for it to count, destroying them through area effect or stray shot counts as well, so long as you're the one destroying them. If an enemy destroys the container, it does not count for the Deed or the achievement. Nothing really to worry about here, some stages you'll find 10 or more, primarily the spaceship encounters.

Support (Hospitaller Curia Doctrines) - Open 100 Supply boxes
Progresses towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrOrdnance SeekerThe Ordnance Seeker achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 20 pointsOpen 100 supply chests.

As with the others, only tracks at the end of the successful mission unlike the acheivement. Be sure to open every supply box you see regardless of whether you need to restock. Took longer than expected for me as I was a Psyker without any munitions, took the extra skill slot instead and never opened any boxes. Only tracks when you open Supply, Medical Supply does not count. You do not need to actually pick up the contents.

Debuffs (Arbites Shock Tactics) - Deal 1M Suppression damage
This one threw me a little, was not sure how to reliably deal Suppression damage. Easiest way I found was to equip gear that dealt additional Suppression damage until the Deed was complete.

Suppression (Catachan Survival Training) - Complete 25 sidequests
This one is tied to the achievement:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrStalwart ServantThe Stalwart Servant achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 33 pointsComplete 25 events during the missions.

This is going to give the most trouble and is tracked differently to the achivement. Strongly recommend you check the solution by "WeisGuy9" from the link above. Only the side quests he mentions will count, don't waste time dashboarding out, they won't count towards the Heroic Deed and just end up taking longer. I was able to get all 25 fairly quickly when combining his solution with the link from "No Politics":
https://neocoregames.com/en/community/hub/side-quests-a-some...
What I did was to check "Random Missions" for only for the map named Tropospheric Platform, didn't matter what mission type. Hit A to view the map and compare it with those from the link above. Was able to get several of Map #1A/B which give TWO side quests towards the Deed. If there are no guaranteed maps, continue on with campaign or whatever and check back later.

Movement (Sicarian Augmentics) - Open 100 Loot Chests
These are the chests that contain loot, not to be confused with "supply chests" that are everywhere. Will come naturally assuming you explore and keep an eye on the map. Chests that count towards this contain loot/cash and appear on the map. The "trap" chests do not count, nor do the ones guarded by a daemon.

Health (Magos Biologis Secrets) - Take 500k Suppression damage
No idea on this one. Take damage until the tree unlocks? You'll get this one way before you complete the others, even as a ranged character who hides from battle.

Defense (Secutarii Siege Axioms) - Complete 25 missions without dying
Progresses towards:
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - MartyrInvincibleThe Invincible achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr worth 49 pointsComplete 25 missions without dying.

No reason you can't go back to an early level 5 stage when you're level 50, it still counts. Using Death Augary with the Psyker does not count as a "death" either.

Psyker only:
Psychic Debuffs (Scholastica Psykana Maledictions) - Reach Level 7 as Scryer to unlock or already available for Aetherwalker and Empyreanist.
There is no Heroic Deed to unlock this, if you play a Psyker, you won't need to worry.

Psychic Combat (Primaris Battle-Psyker Training) - Unlocked for all Psyker classes.
There is no Heroic Deed to unlock this. Playing a Psyker is all you need.

Crusader and Assassin only:
Execution (Eversor Psychological Warfare) - Kill 5k enemies with melee skills
This will take a while, make sure you're doing a large number of kills with your Y button. To do this while dual-wielding, you need to equip two weapons of the same type.

Aimed Shots (Vindicare Indoctrination) - Kill 5k enemies with ranged skills
This will take a while, make sure you're doing a large number of kills with your Y button. To do this while dual-wielding, you need to equip two weapons of the same type.

Note: While Execution and Aimed Shots are Crusader/Assassin skill trees only, you cannot progress towards the feat with a Psyker like you can all the other skill trees. You need to get all 5k melee+ranged kills with one of these classes.

Unlocking the Achievement:
In order to get the achievement, you need all skill trees unlocked for one character. This does not include Puritan/Radical (Thanks BLOOD BERSEKER). You can unlock the skill trees via Heroic Deeds with multiple characters, so long as one character has all trees unlocked, the achievement will pop.

For example, my Psyker Aetherwalker starts the game with Melee Combat unlocked. I never touched melee, so I never completed the "Close Quarters" Heroic Deed unlocking the skill tree for other characters. Despite this, the achievement unlocked the moment all skill trees were available to that character. I also have no Assassin or Crusader class and have not unlocked Execution or Aimed Shots.

The 25 events one only tracks if you complete the mission. I got the related cheevo by quitting and restarting a mission after completing an event but the tracker for the skill tree did not increase.

You don't need to unlock both radical and puritan do you?

Good overview, something to clarify you do not need both the puritan and radical perks unlocked. My only character is a puritan crusader and i got the achievement.

Thumbs up for the information about the suppression/side quests alone. Sweet guide!

Totally agree with Caltrop! I felt like everything came naturally for the other 15 skill trees. Stalwart Servant is easily the one you have to work the hardest to get.

"Deal with Traps" was annoying for me too, having unlocked the achievement but almost no progress towards the skill tree/Deed didn't make sense until I found out why :)

I'm unable to find those maps, and I've been 2 days searching now. Maybe this was messed with the update like a lot of other things.

I've found however, a pattern where this events appear. These usually appear on maps that are splitted and have two or more connections, I mean maps that are O or 8 shaped. I found 4 of 5 this morning (and one of them was a hidden chest that counted for the tracker but not for the deed...). Don't know if it was a coincidence but two days searching without results and those appeared for me today. And they were always hunt btw.

I can really confirm these 8/O maps usually have a event. Today I got 7 from these maps.
I've also found the 2A and 2B map on floating platforms that always have two events, and I manage to do it twice, so four more.

And it's much simpler to wait some hours to respawn all the missions than enter-quitting to generate new. Search for missions and when you're done come back after 3-4 hours.

A few things more: you don't need to complete the mission, you can fail after the event, useful if the mission is at higher level. They can be any type of mission, not only hunt. And remember to check random missions.

Also came here to say thanks for info regarding the side quests - was easily able to clean this up with the screenshots from that neocore forum post. Another note - even if you fail the mission, completed side-quests counted (at least for me). I was at 24/25, completed two in one mission, but then ended up dying too many times and unlocked the skill tree when I returned to my ship.
