How to unlock the Demonstration of Purity achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr - Definitive Guide

Chaos Engine Elites are fairly scarce in the campaign, but can be found regularly in the Void Crusades. Which works out, as I think* the crusades are the fastest way to get XP and level up towards level 100 for Journey of Faith.

*Probably not. I've summarised my own experience with some information provided in the comments in a spoiler as it's not entirely relevant to this achievement.

Depending on your story progress, Robby7430 has pointed out that there is a story mission where you come across an engine right at the start. Simply restart the mission once you have killed it and repeat.
The mission in question is "The Martyr: Chapter 3 - The Secret Weapon". Goku Black confirmed it's the 3rd part, entitled "Uther's Scriptorium".
prowlerdante has mentioned that here are 2 in a mission in Chapter 5 too, unsure which one.
Most of the chaos enemy missions have engines as boss types. Specifically, you want Nurgle dreadnoughts and the Decimator/Impalers. 2 of the 3 enemies in Hunt missions are usually engines. At higher levels, I've even been getting 3 engines on some missions.

You'll need to play through the campaign some until you unlock the Void Crusades and Uther's Tarot.

As for actually making progress, you assign you Acts of Faith at the 'Faith Abilities' station next to Caius Thorn on the bridge. I assigned 'Divine Grace' to the cn_B button. Most melee weapons have a free slot by default, which is what I used. Not sure about ranged.

When you find an engine, whittle down it's health and, when it's nearly dead, activate your Act of Faith before you deal the killing blow.

Achievement progress tracks, so you can keep and eye on it there.

I unlocked this achievement when I was around level 70, and I forgot or mistimed activating my Act of Faith several times. So, there are ample opportunities to get this as you play crusades.

Good hunting. For the Emperor!

For those that haven't progressed far with your battle sister story I reccomend playing "The Martyr: Chapter 3 (mission: The Secret Weapon)"
It has a chaos engine elite close the beginning of the mission. Progress thru and do as Rossco says above killing the elite while under an act of faith. After killing it just restart the mission. Thru this method you still earn XP and progress towards the said achievement. Just quit the mission instead of completing it to continue using it.

Robby, that is interesting. I tried that exact mission but my progress didn't count. Must have been an Xbox bug. I've added a note about it. Cheers.

To add to it I am working on it on the Series X with the Xbox one version if that helps. Were you on the series x version or?

Just to add to this solution with the Secret Weapon Mission:
It's the third part of the mission called "Uther's Scriptorium"
And it works. I'm doing it right now!

Does the level have to be 4 levels higher then your level, reason i ask is they don't count for me killed over 15 and only 1 has counted.

killing elites on normal level(green), so far only missions on red levels count, still need to try a yellow level. To get them to count the mission level needs to be at least 5 levels higher then your character.

maybe I did not notice it, because I played on a higher difficulty from the start. But if that's true, that's a good info!

It looks like you have to be on higher difficulty for them to count, I tried it on green and yellow difficulty and it did not count.

To add to Goggs25's comment. It's a level called 'The Children of Decay' in Chapter 5. You can kill a Nurgle Helbrute and then a Nurgle Dreadnought somewhat early on. Just restart each time.

It's decent for using banners, Saint ability, leveling up and Faith too (decent all rounder really).

There's a location called the Unholy Cathedral that has 8 Chaos engines. It's a 10 minute, 10 wave survival mission. The difficulty goes up with each wave, so it could be difficult, but around 4-5 Chaos engines show up before it gets too bad. Definitely the fastest way to get this.

I figured it out. I was not pressing B before killing the enemy for some reason I thought I had to press L3 to activate faith. lol.

I have the achievement now so thought I could give more information on what missions I found the enemies on.

Also the kills count on any difficulty from white to red.

Campaign mission

The Martyr: chapter 5 The Alpha Pariah there are 2 chaos engine elites here near the begining.

other mission types.

Look for enemy type Word Bearer Vanguard and Nurgle Demons I found at least 1 of the engine elites with these enemy types I found them on these mission types

Purge
Hunt
Rescue

Sometimes on these mission types but not often
panic room
assassination

I found another mission in Chapter 5 that has two Chaos engines before going to the end point, so I would just take both out and restart the mission.

Also I'm finding Intel missions are quicker to level up with. I use the Uthors Tarot that either increases level by 2 or if it's already a few levels higher I use the one for Reputation alongside the tarots that increase XP gained and drop Intel/consumables.

I go with the consumables because sometimes you get Meme Virus drops which increase XP gained by 100% for 1 mission, so I was getting roughly 18-25k XP per mission. Once you get to level 85 it starts to really be a grind but it's not the worst I've been through.

Yeah, I don't believe there is a level restriction at all. Elites on any level should count towards the achievement. Hopefully it's just a temporary bug.
