How to unlock the Chapter Master achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Definitive Guide

Level 40 requires a grand total of 552,400 XP.

To boost effectively, set up a private seize ground match on any map you like (I prefer Waste Management). You need a minimum of two players total, but every extra player reduces time by a _significant_ margin.

Set the score limit to 5,000, time limit to whatever turn length you like (I did 15-30 min turns). Make sure to set the respawn timer to zero ('Instant'), turn off Armour Regeneration and put Armour Strength to 'Quarter' to ensure faster dying.

IMPORTANT: Everyone on the winning team _needs_ to equip 'Rapid Deployment' as a perk (on a Tactical marine). This reduces the spawn timer at a captured point to 2 seconds (from a previous value of 7 seconds). This will roughly triple the kills gained by the booster whose turn it is. Note that I ran into a glitch whereby it did not seem to affect my respawn timer. This was fixed by rehosting.

Whichever gamer's turn it is will be alone on one team, and all other players (up to 8) will be on the other team. This team captures a point and stays there (I preferred point B on Waste Management). The booster then stands outside the capture circle and kills them in any way they wish, over and over. The killed boosters can then choose that capture point to spawn at indefinately.

The killing booster should vary his weapons to get as many weapon challenges completed as possible. Completing these challenges will gain you the lion's share of the XP you need as well as working towards the 'Keeper of the Armory' achievement.

As a reference for effectiveness, with two other boosters, I managed to get approximately 370 kills in one 25min round, unlocking numerous challenges for 104,000XP.

Acknowlegements to: WayzoftheRaven, WayzoftheHawk, PNOIDSCHIZ and montygo for boosting level 40 with me, and especially to the two former for suggesting the use of 'Rapid Deployment' to considerably speed the process.

EDIT: As mentioned by my boosting partner, make sure everyone has entered their battle code to advance past level 5. Otherwise they could lose a lot of XP!

If there is anything anyone thinks I missed, please respond in the comments and I will insert the info.

Make sure to you use the Battle Code before grinding for these sessions. Can potentially lose a bit of experience. Sorry PNOIDSCHIZ for the xp you did loose.

I found another method accidentally that has not yet been mentioned. If you would like to level up relatively quickly without any human opposition, you can play EXTERMINATUS PRIVATE. Set up a game on Hab Center, Arena 1. You will encounter waves of orcs, akin to a 'horde' mode, and when you die you will capture all of the XP and level up. I was actually going for the following achievement in which you need 40,000 kills.
Warhammer 40,000: Space MarineTrue Son of the EmperorThe True Son of the Emperor achievement in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine worth 598 pointsKill 40,000 enemies in the game (all game modes combined).

If you follow the guide for that achievement, you can obtain over 500 kills and, more importantly, well over 3,000 XP for every 12-15 min of game time. I really like the fact that this solution contributes to many other achievements as well, and while it can be a grind (I'm still working on it at the time of this writing) it can be broken up over several days/sessions to ease the pain. Hopefully this helps anyone still going for this achievement!

Edited for required XP for levels (I'll continue to update as I learn more...)
Level 31-- 173,640
Level 35 -- 263,200
Level 40 -- 552,400
Level 41 -- 671040 (armor unlocks)

Easily boosted in a private match with friends (the more the better).

Setup a Seize Ground private match, and adjust the game time to unlimited with a win score of 5000. Adjust the armor levels, spawn time, and health recharge to to your liking (as little as possible).

The 'earning' team should head over to the enemy spawn point, so ensure kills are quick and easy.

Then focus on weapon / armor challenges and work on some of the harder MP achievements. (ex. 150 kills with both pistols earns you 10,000 XP)

After about an hour we were able to unlock 'Defender', 'Devastation' (needs to be done in annihilation), 'Down to Earth', along with multiple weapon challenges.

There is no need to finish the match, your XP and earned items will be saved.

I left the match with a total of 27750 XP earned our first time boosting.

Hope this helps...
Enjoy!!!

You will get this long before the Keeper of the Armory Achievement - all weapon challenges. So if you are going for that, do not worry about boosting this separately.

In a 15 min match 1 vs 3 you should be getting around 20k minimum (depending on what weapon challenges you are going for) plus any additional xp for challenges completed. This is by far the most efficient way to get this if you also plan on getting the Keeper of the Armory, otherwise one of the other solutions would be better suited for you.

To give you an idea on potential xp earned with more people in a boosting session - I had an 80k round for 1 vs 5 --- 499 kills and completing both Power Axe and Thunder Hammer challenges all in one 15 mins round

Throughout multiplayer, you will receive experience for essentially playing the game's multiplayer. You can get bonus experience by doing Weapons and Armor challenges.

All of this can be done via boosting in private matches. See the Trophy Boosting/Co-op Partners Thread for people to do this with.

Remember to put in the Online Pass that comes with the game, otherwise you will not get past level 5!
