How to unlock the Master Crafted achievement in Warhammer 40000 Space Marine - Definitive Guide

People seem to be having trouble with this one, but it is not bugged. Follow these steps and the achievement should be yours.

- select new space marine / chaos marine
- change all pieces of armour to next available option
- select new chapter / warband
- change shoulder emblem
- turn pattern on for all armour pieces and change the colour for all 3 options
- press (x) to set active player model
- repeat for other race
- return to lobby

Hope this helps! Thanks to Flabyo and Nereme for their input.

(Possible Bugs)
*If this doesn't work, try repeating these steps while in a multiplayer lobby - - (Bill 13)

I was getting annoyed as this solution didn't help me. But then I found out what the problem is - set each of the newly created character models as the active appearance in the customizer and plop.

Another potential tip on this one is I think you really do need to be in a lobby. I tried this a couple of times from the multiplayer menu and it didn't pop, tried it again after just going into a private lobby and it popped right away.

That is odd. I'll add it as a possible glitch. Thanks.

This one popped for me when I did it in lobby and then clicked on 'Seize Ground', then it popped.

After doing all this changing everything, doing it in a private lobby, and backing out of lobby it still didn't want to unlock. The last thing I tried that worked is doing everything as this guide said but on Appearance 2 so give that a try if all else doesn't work.

The Customizer doesn't unlock until you're rank 4, which is pretty quick to attain if you're following the level boosting method. However, this achievement isn't as simple as changing your gear, you need to earn / unlock pieces of gear to swap to. I found this solution while searching for quick achievements to knock out for a challenge, this isn't the case. This achievement will take a while to earn each of the pieces required.

This requires you to customise both an Imperial and Chaos Marine appearance in the multiplayer customisation tool.

The customiser doesn't unlock until you reach level 4 in the skill rankings.

To get the achievement, your new appearance must change every piece of armour for something other than the default, and change the colour and shoulder emblem. Through normal means this will require you to play MP for a while to unlock enough pieces.

The achievement doesn't pop until you return to the multiplayer lobby menu.

However, if you have the pre-order bonus MP appearances, then setting one of these counts as customising the whole set. This means those who pre-ordered in the UK and got the 'Elite Armour Pack' which has two Imperial and two Chaos MP skins can get this one as soon as they unlock the customiser.

This achievement is bugged. Anyone know a way around it?

To clarify further

Space Marines > Space Wolves > Press X (Make active)
Chaos > Iron Warriors > Press X (Make active)

Then exit the customiser and or Lobby. Should pop after that!

As Un4tunateSnort and ClipsMcGee mentioned, you should note this doesn't pop until you exit the Customizer.

I had issues with it too but if you change every piece of armour, change the primary, secondary and detail paint colours and then the shoulder emblem - FOR BOTH CHAOS AND SPACE MARINES IN ONE GO - it should pop once you return to the lobby.

Or at least it did for me.

You have to change the armor pieces, that is the only way it will work. The armor set that you get when you complete the campaign will not work, you have to get a full set (can be a mishmosh of all sets) via multiplayer. None of the armor peices can be from the default armor set in multiplayer or the full campaign finish set.

Make sure you set both new colour schemes to active otherwise it will not pop.

Default armor items:

Space Marine: mk7 aquila
Chaos: Chaos Armor

You must select an armor piece different from these. After I painted I went through and chose armor pieces separate from these two for both factions.

If people are having trouble getting this to unlock you may have to change your shoulder emblem and possibly even your armour colours. I had a lot of grief from this trying to get it to unlock and the Space marine website suggested i change shoulder emblems as well as just all the armour pieces(1).

Please note that the armour pieces can all be from the same set but you need to have changed each armour piece from its original on both the space marine and the chaos space marine setups.

Please note this achievement will only pop once you have exited the customiser.

Yeah, same issue here too. I really thought the darn thing was glitched as I had numerous armors unlocked by then and nothing seemed to unlock it. (I also got around to using Appearance 1 on both sides)

Also, the achievement didn't pop for me till I backed out to the MP menu... (We're you see your two marines back to back.)

For this trophy, you literally have to change every single option for each one of the pieces you have. Meaning you must change all the Armor (Helmet, Left/Right Shoulder Pad, Left/Right Vambrace, Breast Plate, Left/Right Greave, and Backpack), change all the colors for the armor, and change the Should Badge.

Here are some steps from THQ themselves:

1. Select Customizer from the Multiplayer Menu.
2. Select Space Marine and choose an open Appearance slot.
3. Select Armor, then enter Armor Sets and choose an unlocked armor (not Mk7 Aquila!).
4. Back out to the Modify Appearance Menu, and then enter Armor Colors.
5. Select Full Armor Paint, then Select Primary Color and choose a different color than the default.
6. Select Detail Color and choose a different color than the default.
7. Return to the Select Colors menu, then select each individual armor piece and make sure to change the default Pattern Color if there is one present (Left Shoulder Pad, Right Shoulder Pad, etc.).
8. Back out to the Modify Appearance menu, then enter Shoulder Badge and choose a different shoulder badge than the default (THIS MUST BE CHANGED EVEN IF THE SHOULDER BADGE IS NOT VISIBLE ON THE SHOULDER PAD!).
9. Return to the Appearance menu and set the newly modified Space Marine as the Active Appearance.
10. Back out to the Customizer and repeat these steps with the Chaos Marine, making sure to change the entire Armor Set, Armor Colors (including the Pattern Colors for each armor piece) and Shoulder Badge (EVEN IF THE SHOULDER BADGE IS NOT VISIBLE ON THE SHOULDER PAD!).
11. Make sure to set the new Chaos Appearance as the Active Appearance, then return to the Multiplayer Menu and enjoy your Master Crafted Achievement/Trophy.

You must do this for both Space Marine and Chaos Space Marine. Be sure to have your current appearance set to the one you're changing before you do this.

Also make sure that every piece of armor is different than what you started out with. This is key, considering for me the Breastplate on the Space Marine was the default one the entire time.

To get this achievement, you must change every piece of armor from both the Chaos and regular Space Marines from their default armor pieces to armor pieces you have unlocked through the armor challenges or by beating the campaign. Once you change your armor on both the Space Marines and Chaos Marines, set the customized skins to your default skins and leave the menu. The achievement should pop once you leave the menu.
