How to unlock the Blessed by the Father achievement in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - Definitive Guide
This achievement is for taking damage from all the bubo acidic pus pools in the Festering Grounds end-level event (Legendary difficulty only).
This achievement is currently partially bugged -- it often does not unlock when it should. Fortunately, we have some good news on a potential big fix and some ways to work around the bugs to get the achievement before the fix launches:
First, reports from the PC world indicate that the Winds of Magic pre-release update (coming to Xbox hopefully around December 2019) fixes this achievement, so if you're getting frustrated and can't seem to unlock it, a fix is coming.
Until then, the problem with the achievement is three-fold:
-- Two of the buboes in the second "area" of the final event (in the back of the area, one on the floor and one on the wall, they are right next to each other) will never drop acidic pus. Here's a picture of them, courtesy of Septygame of Fatsharkgames forums:
-- Occcasionally, other buboes (other than the two listed above) will also not drop acidic pus (I once had a run where four failed to pop properly)
-- Even if you only have the two failed buboes not drop acid, and the others all work correctly, you may still not get the achievement.
Fortunately, there seems to be a workaround for all three problems:
-- First, there is a "grace count" where you need two less pool damage than the total bubo count (aka a two bubo grace factor). This is good as it mitigates the first issue above.
-- Mitigating the second issue is basically luck -- you just have to run the level until you get a run with only the two consistent buboes failing on you.
-- Through extensive trial and error, the third issue can be solved by running the level solo. Apparently having co-op partners is invalidating the achievement. So to get the achievement, you'll need to do a solo run with all bots. See this thread for more details if you're curious how we came to this conclusion: https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/festering-ground-challeng...
On to the actual mechanics of getting the achievement:
As the achievement is bugged, you'll have to run the level solo, and as such you'll personally have to be the one who does the "bathing". For the "bathing" to count, you'll have to pop the bubo and stand in the acid pool underneath, taking at least one tick of damage -- I personally took two ticks to ensure the damage registered (you'll see a red flash on your screen when the damage kicks in). Therein, the best classes to do this achievement with are "tank" classes, including Ironbreaker, Zealot. Handmaiden and Unchained. As well, necklaces that grant extra health and talents that give extra health are highly useful here.
Of my four member group, at least three of us completed this challenge with the Ironbreaker, due to his massive health pool. Not sure if Gromril's Armor affects the achievement (one of my comrades says no, but I never personally tested), but two ticks of damage (the first drops Gromril's Armor) should solve that issue. Also, the Drakefile Pistols are good bubo popping ranged weapons, as they never run out of ammo.
Some tips:
-- EASILY MISSED: In the third "area", the bubo on the ceiling in the middle of the room drops its acid on the "bridge", not the floor. So, be on the bridge when you pop this one, or you may miss it.
-- Only the acid pool does damage, not the initial bubo explosion. Still, its best to be as close as possible to the bubo when it pops, to make sure you get ticked by the acid pool. Pools only last for about 15 seconds or so, so you need to ensure you're very close to the bubo when it pops.
-- Assuming they're not taking big damage, your bots will give you their health items over time, so using Natural Bond is a bad idea for this achievement, as it mitigates all the health your bots can hand you. Just stick to health items/talents stacking and you'll be fine. Temp health traits are also your best friend here, as you'll be taking lots of tick damage and you can use white health for this.
-- Speaking of the third area, several buboes here are tucked in corners and behind barriers. Despite this, they can all be reached by either doing a jump across a gap, a jump onto some boxes, or taking a long path around a pillar. Again, always pop buboes when you're right next to them, and there shouldn't be any where this cannot be the case.
-- Do NOT bring an Unchained bot with you on this run. Her Living Bomb ultimate can and will pop buboes when you're not ready for it. Outside of that, bots are very good at not accidentally shooting or hitting buboes, so they can be left to their own devices while you're shooting/hitting buboes.
-- Should be obvious, but watch ranged weapons fire, so that you don't accidentally hit a bubo at distance.
Let me know how you run went in the comments, as I constantly trying to verify the info given above.

Got this without too much hassle on my second attempt with the ironbreaker. My first attempt was ruined by me not realizing which one of the buboes that splashed the pus on the bridge. Playing solo was definetly the way to go for me :) Appreciate the guide!

Thanks for the report! Per your experience, I moved the note about the bridge bubo up to the top of the notes list and marked it "EASILY MISSED" (vice "NOTE") to hopefully make sure people see it.

All this quest requires is for someone to take damage from the pus of each bubo in the final event. You can do it solo, take the character to quickly heal him with temporary health, burst the abscess, stomp on the pus, if you don’t have enough health, enemies will appear from time to time, fill them with temporary health.

You don’t just need to take damage, you need to have the nastiness “poured” over your character
