I found this Video guide which helps me a lot to find the barrels and use the shortcuts.
I'll go with my shade (legendary solo) first and my friends joined to the position near 4:50 in this Video.
Keep an eye for endless hordes at this position and specials (can easily ruin your run).
I haven't found a safe spot, yet where everybody in your team might join without risk.

For anyone trying to solo this challenge like I did, these guides are very useful! I highly recommend playing through the level a few times to learn good spots to fight off hordes and the various places you may fight a monster. Overall, just take it slow and don’t carry a barrel around enemies!
The only change which I made was at the end. Instead of running the 3 barrels to the cart and risk being hit, I moved them all up to the stairs leading into that last plaza which the cart moves across. Then I moved the cart up as far as it can go; it will move without any barrels in it so long as you are standing next to it. Once there, the barrels should be right next to the cart where you can grab and throw them in quickly!
I also had barrels 2 and 3 spawn right next to each other on my run. So I’m not sure how random the barrels spawn might actually be. Good luck!

We found 5 barrels:
1. The very beginning. As soon as the map is loaded, it turns back - the barrel is under construction
2. Enter the gate and through the house to the 2nd floor - in the back there is a courtyard with a barrel, a chest and a couple of mobs
3. Barrel of the 1st grimoire (didn’t try to pull it out)
4. When we go up the stone stairs to the 2nd grimoire, there is a building on the left. Barrel on the 2nd floor/roof
5. Area of the 2nd grimoire - on the street between the shops, on the right.
PS If it’s difficult to convey to the final, look at the places of throws behind the walls on YouTube.
