How to unlock the Card Collector achievement in WARRIORS OROCHI 3 Ultimate - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you need to unlock all the Strategy Cards for use in Duel Mode. There is a total of 294 Strategy Cards. Every character has two cards (a normal card and a gold card) associated with them. Their normal cards are acquired by simply unlocking the character, while the gold cards are awarded for accomplishing specific tasks.

Most characters are unlocked by beating a certain main or side stage in the story, so just keep going through it and make sure to talk to the characters in the camp after every stage you complete, as some of those conversations unlock side stages that may unlock a new character. There are also special "Bond" stages that require you to raise bonds between certain characters and may often unlock a new character as well. When one of those becomes available, you can check it out in the stage select to see the requirements to unlock it if you haven't fulfilled them already. Also worth of note is that the bonds only need to be raised to the second level for those missions to unlock; there is no need to raise them any higher.
While completing all those stages will unlock most characters, there are a few that have special unlock conditions, these are:

Lu Bu - To unlock him you need to play the Battle of Osaka Castle in chapter 3 with Diaochan in your party and when he appears, you must meet up with him before he is defeated.

Gyuki and Dodomeki - To unlock them you need to complete chapter 4 with any ending.

Orochi, Orochi X, Kiyomori Taira, Sun Wukong, Susanoo, Nezha - All of them are unlocked by competing all three endings in chapter 4. The "Good" and "Normal" endings are achieved by clearing "The Demise of orochi X" and "Into the Fire" stages which become unlocked once you are far enough in the story. The "True" ending however is achieved by clearing the "World's End" stage, which is unlocked only once you unlock every other character in the story mode (excluding Hundun and the ones unlocked from chapter five and beyond).

Young Nezha - The alternate version of him is unlocked by clearing "War in the mystic realm" stage in chapter 7 with a recommended team.

Yinglong - he can be unlocked by speaking to him in the camp in chapter 7

Kyubi - To unlock her you need to talk to the guard in the camp after beating chapter 8, which will unlock a new stage in chapter 7. After beating it, talk to the guard again, this will unlock another new stage. Beat it, and Kyubi should be unlocked.

Hundun - To unlock him you need to defeat him in the level 4 of the Gauntlet dungeon, thus clearing the Gauntlet mode for the first time.

Now, after unlocking all the characters you should have all the normal cards. Gold cards however, as I mentioned before have certain requirements that need to be fulfilled before they become available. I will give the breakdown of these bellow.

Unlock Method 1: Set a certain win record in the survival mode.
I do not have the exact table of what card becomes unlocked after what amount of wins; however what I can tell you is that the last card you get is Hundun’s card called “The Origin of Chaos” and it is unlocked after about 90 consecutive wins in survival. If you need help hitting the necessary win streak, check out my guide for the “Survivalist” achievement. The setup I recommend there can easily carry you way past 90 wins. The full list of characters whose cards are unlocked in this manner can be found bellow.
Cao Cao, Taishi Ci, Huang Gai, Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei,
Liu Bei, Sima Sh,i Deng Ai, Wang Yuanji, Xiahou Ba,

Xiaoqiao, Zhuge Liang, Wei Yan, Liu Shan, Sima Yi,

• Heroes of Komaki-Nagakute
• Battle of Liang Province
• Rescue at Yiling
• Siege of Shouchun
• Battle of Guangzong
• Rescue at Dongkou
• Battle of Mt. Xingshi
And here is the list of characters whose cards you unlock.
Dian Wei, Xiahou Yuan, Wang Yi, Guo Jia, Lu Xun,
Gan Ning, Lu Meng, Lianshi, Huang Zhong, Guan Ping,
Pang Tong, Yueying, Jiang Wei, Guan Suo, Zhong Hui,

Rachel, Shennong, Kasumi, Sterkenburg, Sophitia,
Mitsuhide Akechi, Okuni, Magoichi Saika, Yoshimoto Imagawa, Ina,

So this should be everything you need to unlock the achievement. This was a bit of a rough one to put together so hopefully I didn’t get anything mixed up or leave anything out. This is one of the more difficult achievements and will take a while to get, so good luck and try to have fun.

I just unlocked this and the final cards I needed were the Survival mode cards. I got to 85 wins and lost and unlocked Hundun's card for the achievement. So you don't need to go to 90, just 85. Hope this helps people like me who suck at survival mode ha.

Thanks for your feedback guys.
FreakOfTheAbyss, I know you get the win streak cards a bit earlier than 90 but on my first run through the survival with a good setup I got to over 170 wins so I don't know exactly how many you need for the achievement. When I was compiling this guide I had to surf the net to find the exact win streak you need, but there's a lot of conflicting info out there, so I put 90 just to be safe.

Or1g1nal S1nn3r Thanks for pointing this out, I suspected that I may have gotten something wrong, this guide was a bitch to put together. I'll fix it right away.

Hi mate, great guide. Just a couple of questions if I may. For the Hard/Chaos clears, can I use any character and just run through the list and what are proficiencies?

Thanks for your help and the great guide.

I just did Ambush at Kyushu on Hard and didn't get a card. I then noticed you list 35 hard levels needed but only 34 characters to unlock the cards this way. I think Ambush... may be the spare one

I can confirm what Hybridchld is saying. I did Ambush at Kyushu on hard difficulty, but didn't get a card. Everything else though worked perfectly fine and I got the achievement, so Ambush at Kyushu is an extra and doesn't need to be there.

Method 3 for proficiency - is this just their first proficiency to level S or do you need to do both (as they get a second "category" after Promotion past Level 100?)

Totemman16, there is a glitch with this game in that if you do not completely quit out of the game (xbox home button, hit menu and select quit game) then it will ot track any of your achievements. Unfortunately, this is one of the achievements that it won't track, so if you haven't been quitting, you're kind of SOL. The only way to fix it is to wipe your files and start completely fresh. I got burned on this with Heroes From Another World. Hopefully it's just a mistake and you were able to get it. cry

For Young Nezha, you do not need to use the recommended team, just beat War in the Mystic Realm.

Lord Valoel i'm currently at 244/290. If it does glitch then the only thing I can do is start over after getting as many other achievements as possible

Just unlocked this achievement. Heroes From Beyond and Friends Reunited both glitched on me, so just because those didn't unlock for you doesn't mean you're completely screwed on unlocking this achievement. Also, you can max out an officer's proficiency in Gauntlet mode, however the card will not unlock at the end of the stage. You just have to go into Story mode and beat any stage. Once you beat the stage you will unlock the cards for ALL officers that are S rank that you haven't unlocked gold cards for yet. You don't need to even use the officer in the stage. I unlocked like 7 cards at once this way.

@FFaddic so even though Heroes From Beyond and Friends Reunited both unsynced for you, you didn't have to go back and redo those to have all the cards counted?

Also, any idea why the progress tracking in TA is out of 290 instead of 294?

I can now confirm the unsyncing does not seem to affect this anymore!

There is bug. There are 290 cards (not 294). If someone have all cards and didn't have achievement, then you should replay any mission on story mode on any diffiuculty level (can be even easy). After complete mission, achievement will be obtain. Steam version.

I just popped this as well and must note one thing. Muneshige Tachibana's gold card "Divine Wind" is NOT unlocked by raising his proficiency to S. You get it by beating "Battle of Mt. Xingshi" on Hard/Chaos. That was the last card I needed and I had him at an S ranking already. On a whim I tried the above level as that is where you obtain him and the gold unlocked there.

To unlock this trophy you must unlock all the Strategy Cards for use in Duel Mode, they are unlocked through various conditions. There are a total of 294 Strategy Cards (97 Attack Cards, 50 Impede Cards, 93 Support Cards and 54 Special Cards). Every character has a Normal Card and a Gold Card associated with them. Their Normal Cards are acquired by simply unlocking that character in Story Mode, their Gold Cards are awarded for accomplishing specific tasks (see the image below).

> Warriors Orochi 3 Strategy Card Database - The Koei Wikia

Method Explanation

Method 1 - Attain Survival Mode High Score
To unlock all Method 1 Strategy Cards you'll have to score around 89+ wins in Survival Mode (see Survivalist for tips).

Method 2 - Defeat Player-controlled character in Duel Mode.
This Method is simple, all you do is defeat the characters listed while they're under player-control. You can do this with a second controller or online with a boosting partner. You can acquire up to 3 cards per duel by picking 3 appropriate characters as opponents.

[Important]
Players on the PS Vita version must have online access or an additional Vita and copy of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate to be able to acquire these cards. Cross-Platform play between PS4/PS3/PS Vita is available.
PS3/PS4 users must have either online access or an additional controller to acquire these cards. PS4 players with a PS Vita can boot up the game in Remote Play then use their DS4 as controller 2.

Method 3 - Maximize Proficiency
This requires you to maximize a characters proficiency(Rank S), you'll notice this while in the character select or info screens. It is raised by simply getting K.O.s with that character this can take a while but can be hurried by utilizing the following:

Mystic's Brace Equip Item
• Having Dodomeki or Gyuki on your team.
• Putting the Industry weapon attribute on their weapon.

Method 4 - Complete specific stages on Hard or Chaos
You must complete the following stages to obtain these cards.

• Breakthrough at Guangzong
• Battle of Nanjun
• Salvation at Nagashino

This is one of the larger grinds in the game. Strategy cards are used only in Duel Mode, but obtained in other modes. Each character has two cards. You get the first one once you've unlocked the character, the second "rare" card has other requirements:

Step 1:
Clear these stages in Story mode on Hard or Chaos. It doesn't matter which characters you're using.

  • Chapter 1: Battle of Tetorigawa -> Huang Zhong
  • Chapter 1: Battle of Nanjun -> Xiahou Yuan
  • Chapter 1: Battle of Mt. Niutou -> Guan Suo
  • Chapter 1: Struggle for Ueda Castle -> Seimei Abe
  • Chapter 1: Rescue at Taoshui -> Lianshi
  • Chapter 1: Rescue at Dongkou -> Musashi Miyamoto
  • Chapter 1: Retreat from Mt. Niutou -> Lu Meng
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Mt. Xingshi -> Muneshige Tachibana
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Jiangdong -> Rachel
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Taoshui -> Sanzang
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Yan Province -> Kasumi
  • Chapter 2: Heroes of Komaki-Nagakute -> Magoichi Saika
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Jiange -> Yuan Shao
  • Chapter 2: Diversion at Mt. Xingshi -> Jiang Wei
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Mikatagahara -> Gan Ning
  • Chapter 2: Chaos at Tetorigawa -> Yueying
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Liaodong -> Sophitia
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Liang Province -> Yoshimoto Imagawa
  • Chapter 2: Purge of Nanzhong -> Meng Huo
  • Chapter 2: Battle of Xu Province -> Sterkenburg
  • Chapter 3: Siege of Tong Gate -> Diaochan
  • Chapter 3: Battle of Guangzong -> Gracia
  • Chapter 3: Breakthrough at Guangzong -> Dian Wei
  • Chapter 3: Battle of Luo Castle -> Okuni
  • Chapter 3: Defense of Jieting -> Mitsuhide Akechi
  • Chapter 3: Battle of Jieting -> Guan Ping
  • Chapter 3: Liberation of Luo Castle -> Guo Jia
  • Chapter 3: Rescue at Yiling -> Ina
  • Chapter 3: Siege of Shouchun -> Kotaro Fuma
  • Chapter 3: Defense of Yangping Gate -> Shennong
  • Chapter 4: Battle of Hefei -> Lu Xun
  • Chapter 4: Battle of Komaki-Nagakute -> Pang Tong
  • Chapter 4: Siege of Luoyang -> Zhong Hui
  • Chapter 4: Salvation at Nagashino -> Wang Yi

Step 2:
Beat characters in Duel Mode. This can be done with a second controller to speed things up.

  • Wei: Xu Zhu, Zhang He, Cao Ren, Cao Pi, Cai Wenji, Pang De,
  • Wu: Zhou Yu, Sun Shangxiang, Sun Jian, Ling Tong, Xiaoqiao
  • Shu: Zhuge Liang, Wei Yan, Liu Shan
  • Jin: Sima Yi
  • Other 1: Dong Zhuo, Zhurong, Zuo Ci, Fu Xi, Nuwa, Yoshitsune Minamoto
  • Other 2: Benkei, Nezha (Cyborg), Joan of Arc, Nemea, Yinglong
  • Samurai 1: Keiji Maeda, Kenshin Uesugi, No, Ranmaru Mori
  • Samurai 2: Sakon Shima, Toshiie Maeda
  • Samurai 3: Katsuie Shibata, Kai, Goemon Ishikawa, Kojiro Sasaki

Step 3:
Maximize Proficiency of the following characters.

  • Wei: Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Xu Huang, Zhenji, Jia Xu
  • Wu: Zhou Tai, Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Daqiao, Ding Feng,
  • Shu: Guan Yu, Ma Chao, Xingcai, Ma Dai, Bao Sanniang, Xu Shu
  • Jin: Sima Zhao, Zhuge Dan, Guo Huai
  • Other 1: Zhang Jiao, Taigong Wang
  • Other 2: Himiko, Nezha (Human)
  • Samurai 1: Yukimura Sanada, Oichi, Kunoichi, Masamune Date, Hideyoshi Toyotomi
  • Samurai 2: Ieyasu Tokugawa, Mitsunari Ishida, Yoshihiro Shimazu, Ginchiyo Tachibana, Nene, Motochika Chosokabe
  • Samurai 3: Kanbei Kuroda, Ujiyasu Hojo, Hanbei Takenaka

Step 4:
Get 90 straight wins in survival mode.

  • Wei: Cao Cao
  • Wu: Taishi Ci, Huang Gai
  • Shu: Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, Liu Bei
  • Jin: Sima Shi, Deng Ai, Wang Yuanji, Xiahou Ba
  • Other 1: Lu Bu, Orochi, Da Ji, Sun Wukong, Kiyomori Taira
  • Other 2: Orochi X, Dodomeki, Gyuki, Kaguya, Shuten Doji, Susano'o, Ryu Hayabusa, Ayane, Achilles, Momiji, Tamamo, Kyubi, Hundun
  • Samurai 1: Nobunaga Oda, Shingen Takeda, Hanzo Hattori
  • Samurai 2: Tadakatsu Honda, Nagamasa Azai, Kanetsugu Naoe
  • Samurai 3: Kiyomasa Kato, Motonari Mori, Aya, Masanori Fukushima

Step 1-3 are pretty easy, however, for survival mode, I'd recommend clearing gauntlet mode first to obtain Hundun's normal card. Once you're set, use these cards:

  • Power Without Limits (Hundun's normal card)
  • Strategist's Dealings (Motonari Mori's rare card)
  • Red Beans (Oichi's normal card)
  • Fiendish Rose (Rachel's normal card)

Strategist's Dealing is unlocked after several wins in survival mode, so you may not yet have it.

Power without limits spawns a cloud that repeatedly shoots at the enemy, fiendish rose makes an enemy unable to walk, red beans and strategist's dealings give you free BP. So at the start of the battle, immediately pop red beans and strategist's dealings, then fiendish rose. Now, spam power without limits and use fiendish rose again when you get the chance. Note that all clouds disappear when you switch a character, so try to avoid this.
