How to unlock the Scorpitron Slayer achievement in Wasteland 3 - Definitive Guide

You can find a Scorpitron, a large scorpion-like machine, roaming around the Colorado wastes while traveling in your vehicle. You'll be given the option to attack it directly or use your sneak ability to grab some gear without it noticing. Eventually, using sneak too many times will lead you into a battle anyway as you'll get caught.

While it may seem a daunting fight at first, it can be 1-Hit Killed by ramming it with your vehicle. Simply select your truck in battle and move it all the way to where the Scorpitron is and it'll be killed instantly for an easy 10G.

---
EDIT: It seems as though you MUST take down the scorpitron in an overworld encounter and will not unlock during the "War of the Worlds?" quest.

Another opportunity to grab this achievement comes from the "War of the Worlds?" quest, where you'll get the opportunity to fight a Scorpitron alongside some friendly robots in the Tellurium Mines.

Hey DarqStalker,

What I meant by that is that you must activate the battle with it by encountering it while roaming Colorado in your vehicle. It seems like yours might have glitched out, since killing it while in that battle should have popped the achievement. To get the 1-Hit kill, all I had to do was command my vehicle in combat to drive over and ram into the Scorpitron and it took it out in 1 hit the way it does with most other enemies you run over.

I didn't have any special equipment attached to the vehicle and I think I was only around level 15 or so when I encountered it. If you didn't get it from that encounter you may want to try to reload a past save since that's the only way to get this achievement that's been confirmed. Knowing how glitchy this game is, I'd say it's not out of the question that it may be a little buggy.

I didn't get the achievement from the "War of the Worlds?" quest, only from the overworld encounter scorpitron. No clue if that's intended, a bug, or an oversight.

Curious, did the robots strike the final blow against the scorpitron? I wonder if that makes any difference. If not, it might only be available from an overworld encounter, that's where I got mine.

Yeah I didn’t get it from the war of the worlds. Pretty sure I got the killing blow.

Was just about to come and say this. I got final blow on War of the Worlds quest and it did not unlock. In the field fight I pulled my car right up into its front part and got the kill. Still throwing you an upvote since you crossed out the previous.

Same here, I have only one upgrade on my vehicle and one-shotted the scorpion with it - just set your team up in a defensive position and drive your rig right into the scorpion. I also did this right after the War of the Worlds quest and it did not pop there.

It looks like you can also unlock the achievement in the Coded Transmissions secondary mission. At the end of the mission there is a jury-rigged scorpitron and killing it unlocked the achievement.

Can confirm, I unlocked it in the secondary mission "Coded Transmissions" while the one in "War of the Worlds?" doesn't

Quick note, the gold scorpitron encounter also doesn't unlock the achievement.

Not sure if this has been patched (even as of October 2021 there’s a patch) since these comments, but the Scorpitron on the world map near the Tellurium Mine could not be rammed by the Kodiak. Even as the Scorp moved closer, ramming it was never an option.

However, even on Ranger difficulty at level 11 it was easy enough to kill it with weapons and get the achievement. I threw an EMP grenade which glitches it for 2 turns, causing it to attack allies instead. I had the Kodiak run over any smaller bots in the way. Had energy weapons available for all my units. Precision strike the “plating” to damage the armor. Threw a couple of Laser Turrets for the heck of it. Scorpitron went down after a few turns of hammering away on it.

I'm still confused by this solution.
"It seems as though you MUST take down the scorpitron in an overworld encounter" Do you mean ram it with your vehicle when you are driving around? This does nothing. Driving it into the scorpitron gives you option to sneak or fight. I did 2 sneaks then I had to fight. This brought me to a normal battle. I used my vehicle to run over the small robots and ram into the Scorpitron a few times and eventually kill it with my vehicle weapons. No achievement.

How do you get the 1-hit kill?

EDIT: Ok, after fighting it twice I finally realized the achievement stealth unlocked without a notification :) So it worked.
I'm level 15, have the 3rd vehicle upgrade that gives me 1000 HP and have to hit it 2-3 times to kill it.

Walks in the north of the world map, I killed after Denver, but before Aspen, at ~lvl 19, I didn’t even feel it (difficulty 4/4)
In the company of a Scorpio, 5-6 robots will spawn.

After the battle there is a safe for 9 hacks, in this regard it is worth preparing.

Another scorpion appears in the Luka mine, there are fewer minions there

Also one in the process of the “encrypted transmissions” task.

The quest in the Luka mine does not count. You need to kill the one who walks around the map (there are several of them wandering there)

Scorpitron in the "Ministry of Energy" counts. I think it’s easier to deal with him than with those who wander around the world map

Immediately after leaving the tellurium mine, Luka, on the right, wanders around the general map. at level 16-17, I didn’t really feel it. in the mine itself it seemed harder, maybe because he met me in the mine for the 1st time in the game or he has a fixed lvl higher... in general, there is no need to be afraid, there is a convenient location for hide and seek, + he attacked the Kodiak, which I do every turn repaired it, but he completely broke it) if the team has the robot subduer perk, it’s generally easy to turn the scorpitron’s servants to your side

There is one golden scorpitron on the general map (somewhere closer to Yuma County geographically), but a trophy is given for anyone from the general map.
