How to unlock the Power of 100 achievement in Way of the Samurai 3 - Definitive Guide

The best solution that I used to get this ( or have yet to ) is to simply make a faction that you'd hate or any if you don't care to hate you by killing a few people.

****Save an extra file incase you don't have the 10k samurai points already because this might give you some Villian act points***

Once you've killed a few people from a certain faction then talk to the job broker of that faction and it should trigger a job where you have to kill 100 in order for them to erase the hate from your name. This is the only way to get 100 poor saps to come at you.

The way to get the **CHAIN** going is to rapidly push the block button until you flash gold and press A. Once that's started then continue to search for some more kills within the area (yes they don't stop coming until all 100 are dead) and press the upcoming button for the next kills.

***A very useful and SAFE SAFE way to get this achievement is***
1: Push start whenever the button pops up or whenever you hear the slashing noise that tells you when the instant kill is going to happen

2: return to the game whenver you're ready and keep pressing the button that was prompted to you

and repeat steps over again. This is the safest and surest way to get this achievement.

The pausing bit was brilliant. I had been able to get into the high 30's and low 40's without it but then I'd get distracted or concentrate too hard and screw it up. This way you can go at it at your own pace and not have to worry much about under/over reacting. Thank you for the solution!

First I would like to say in order to get the counter option to happen here you can easily just mash the block button (RB I believe) in order to get the first prompt to pop up (It's always A). InLast has a great solution for this with the push start upon seeing the prompt and then mashing it after pressing B to exit the menu. There is an infinite spawn when you are siding with the Ouka clan mainly for the ending where the boss leaves and you must try to protect the minori castle there and then escape. After the first wave where they come through the gate move forward until Kirie attacks you. Now, while ignoring him for the moment start a chain and run around this small area by the gate. The enemies should run in from all angles however you want to be looking out for enemies after you chain kill the group that just spawned because there isn't a whole lot of time you maintain the counter state and once it goes your counter starts over. This way you can get an easy ending and what I found to be the easiest way to chain 100 kills. Best of luck!

Another alternative to pausing is to simply press all 4 face buttons down simultaneously when the button pops up. The game will read it as you pressing the correct button for the quick-time event everytime. Just make sure you press A+B+X+Y at the same time and make sure your thumb hits them all evenly. Try positioning it between all 4 buttons then press down to make it easier.

Pressing all 4 buttons works very well, but I would inevitably make a small mistake, OR worse, I would try to pick up a weapon and get chopped.

After trying many times, I gave up and tried the pausing every time method and it worked the first time (kill 100 mission at Guard Gate).

Here we have what are without question the most difficult and blatantly unfair achievements in the game. These are basically long chains of quick time events that give you only split second reaction time. Getting ten is fairly challenging on its own. The chain of one hundred however will quite likely cause you immense frustration.

To unlock these achievements, you need instant kill mode turned ON in the options. Don’t confuse this with Instant kill difficulty, that is something else entirely, and not necessary for this achievement.

With Instant Kill mode on, you have a chance with every parry to trigger the instant kill mode, recognizable by the floating button prompt at the bottom of the screen. The first button press is ALWAYS , hit this, and you start Instant Kill mode. When in Instant Kill mode, you have a few seconds to encounter another opponent to continue the chain. When you encounter an opponent in Instant Kill mode, another button prompt will appear and quickly travel across the screen in the direction the button sits on the control pad (ie travels down, travels right etc). All you have to do is hit the right button to continue the chain. Rinse and repeat for 100 kills.

Sounds simple right? Well, I’m afraid not. First off, you get literally about 1 second to react to each button prompt, and if you miss one, Instant Kill mode ends and the chain ends meaning you have to start again. Second problem, there aren’t many places in the game where you can get 100 or more enemies around you, and even then, you can’t always guarantee you can get to them all fast enough to keep the chain going. Fortunately, there is a method that makes this significantly easier. When you encounter each new opponent, keep pressing pause until you pause it at the same time as the button prompt appears. The fade out on pausing gives you plenty of time to identify which button is next to continue your chain, once you know what your button is, just unpause your game and start mashing that button, rinse and repeat for the full 100.

The best time to do these is when going for endings 9 or 11 (Death of Shuzen 1 and 3). The final stage of each ending occurs in Amana Castle when Ouka clan is attacking. As soon as you enter Amana for the last time, you are immediately thrust into combat with waves of Ouka clansmen. I got this achievement here, on easy, and kept going to see how many enemies there were in total, I got to 108 unbroken just in the small courtyard area. Any other possible area to do these achievements have always been problematic, the 'Kill 100' jobs from the brokers tend to let your chain run down before releasing the last few enemies, and other endings where there is mass combat tends to have much less enemies, or throws in a cutscene which cancels your chain. This is the best place by far.
