How to unlock the Hot on her Heels achievement in We Happy Few - Definitive Guide

This is a missable collectible based achievement.

This achievement appears to be buggy. It is highly recommended to make several manual saves throughout all three acts of the story or at least before picking up each note so you can revert back in case of anything.

This is a written guide for the locations of all the notes related to Prudence (total 6):

EDIT: There is another possible note that may be required for a now total of 7 notes. It is note number 4 on the list below and is titled "Clientele". Thanks to everyone who mentioned this note in the comments.
*The notes are in the order that you can first discover them through natural progression of the story.

Act: Act 1 (Playing as Arthur)
Location: Barrow Holm Safehouse
Description: Bathroom sink.
Title of collectible: "The Diary of Prudence Holmes"

2 -
Act: Act 1 (Playing as Arthur)
Location: Barrow Holm Hamlet House
Description: First floor table.
Title of collectible: "Mr. Kite's Instructions"

3 -
Act: Act 1, 2, or 3 - Available to all characters
Location: Maidenholm Safehouse
Description: Desk in workbench room.
Title of collectible: "Damp Diary"

Loading a previously made manual save will work to pick up a note that you missed (I do not know if reaching a checkpoint after collecting it is required to save it though). After I had completed all three acts of the story, I did this to collect the last note that I needed which was "Mr. Kite's Instructions" as Arthur in Act 1. The achievement unlocked immediately after I collected it.

After collecting a note, make sure you do not die before the game makes a checkpoint. There may be a possibility that this has something to do with not getting the notes to count towards the achievement.

If the achievement bugs on you, read through the comments. Someone's experience with this achievement and how they got it to unlock may work for you.

- The first note called "The Diary of Prudence Holmes" in Barrow Holm Safehouse, is on the bathroom sink in the maintenance room and not on the floor right beside the exit.

EDIT:
- A possible note titled "Clientele" which might be required (brings the total amount of notes needed to 7) is not in this video. For the location of this note use the written guide above.

Didn't get the achievement after the first playthrough either. I have loaded existing saves with no success. Finally I made a second start and only played with Ollie up to the mission No place like home to collect the notes, the achievement didn't pop up for me, so I started with Arthur and had to play with him until the second collection item, to get the achievement.
I used the Y Button here instead of picking in up. Idk if that is the point to get it to get the achievement. Because in my first playthrough i used the X to pick up the Notes and read it after, but no achievement popp up to me.

The achievement is unlocked at the end? Maybe that's my fault, although I pass the game and I will not jump, try to finish again to see if I jump, because I have the last document but there is nothing else to collect, the same name is different in the English version and in which I play and by I don't see that.

Is this glitched for anyone else? And has anyone figured out a workaround to get it to pop? I definitely have all the letters, but this one won't pop. It's the last one I need, but I've put way too much time into this buggy disappointment and don't have it in me to start a whole new game just for this last achievement. Frustrating.

@gwuh007 I am having the same issue. Definitely have them all. For now I have a save right before picking up the last one in hopes of a patch.

Thanks for the info! This definitely helped. It appears this does not have to be done all in one playthrough as it unlocked for me as soon as I picked up the note in the bathroom on 2nd playthrough with Ollie. I had not yet gotten the blower message or been to the parade in that playthrough.

The achievement didn't pop when I pick up the last document, so I assumed that it was bugged in my game. Anyway, i reload a save just before "No place like home quest in ollie playthrough". Re-picked the document in the bathroom and the achievement pop.
I don't know if the inner tracker in this game is messed up or something but this kind of bugs sucks really bad...

Like Luna my achievement was bugged. I started a new game and collected all the notes and it popped on the same one in the bathroom in Ollie's playthrough. I'd say create a save right before you start that mission and come back to it if the achievement does't pop when its supposed to.

Maybe it's just a case of picking them all up again as arthur after doing it with olli, i even got damp diary as olli too and sally doesnt even have it in her playthrough afaik.. thanks for the reply.

*Edit* It literally just unlocked after loading up 1 of my alt arthur saves and picking up only 2/3 of his notes, which are very early on btw if anyone wants to try it

I just got this achievement on my second play through of the game. I think the “bug” is fixed now. It has to be on the same play through for all three characters you can’t jump story’s unfortunatly.

I got it fine in one playthrough along with all the other collectables, but the collectable guide I used specifically said you have to choose the "she's around" option for note #5 or it can glitch the achievement.

It unlocked for me when I picked up 'Clientele' on Sally's playthrough. Just before you make the blackberry joy its by the chemestry set up. Prudence is on the list wanting sunshine.

Despite having gotten all collectible notes and that achievement in my first full playthrough, I got it when I redid Ollie's act from scratch. Redoing Arthur's notes did not unlock it.

This achievement glitched for me following the guide and selecting the proper choice for Ollie's. I started a new Arthur and Ollie playthrough collecting all of the 6 listed with still no luck.

As a last attempt before I gave up I loaded the point of no return for Arthur, played through to start Sally's story, and picked up the 'Clientele' note right at the start of her level and the achievement popped.

Hope this helps anyone frustrated!

You may want to add the note to make it 7 needed.

I didn't pop for me in my first playthrough! I wasn't sure I hadn't missed the ones from Arthur. I am sure I have picked up everything else for Sally and Ollie. So I started a new game. And the moment I picked up "Mr. Kite's Instructions" it popped. So no need for a whole new playthrough just go straight away to the ones you don't have.

I had gathered all of the notes but it did not unlock. Followed the advice of replaying Ollies chapter and it unlocked as soon as I PICKED UP the note "by the time you read this" in the bathroom. Entirely unsure if picking up vs reading made a difference but with how buggy some of these achievements have been I thought I would add this.

Ollie solution worked for me too; I haven't played this game in years, but I saw it was leaving game pass, so I restarted his chapter and got it on the first collectible :)

Used penguinsplay12 way and it worked. I tried the ollie way multiple times didn't work, neither did the sally clientele but the Mr. kite one worked and is very close to the beginning of the game.

Any other suggestions? I have completed everything except this achievement. I have tried: collecting all on a first full playthrough, collecting all on a second full playthrough, creating a new save immediately before each of the seven (nine) collectibles and collecting them again in various orders using different saves, collecting on Xbox Series X, collecting on PC, etc. Nothing seems to work.

Tried this recently on both Xbox Series and PC but having no luck unlocking. As previous mentions including multiple saves/partial playthroughs also both read and pickup options but still doesn’t work.

It does not work for me either, so frustrating because is the only achievement I have left, I even completed all the DLC. I started a second playthrough but so far nothing has popped cry

This didn't initially unlock after picking up the final note in the Ollie playthrough. I was following the AussieGamer17 guide, I decided to power cycle on console and it unlocked as it powered down. Got the notification on the Xbox mobile app.

I checked my diary and I had all of Prudence's notes in Arthur's story. When I finished gathering the rest of the notes in Ollie's story the achievement did not pop. I typically would press "Y" to read the notes instead of pressing "X" to pick them up. Not sure it if made a difference but I pressed "X" on all of Ollie's notes, started a new Arthur story, and pressed "X" to pick up all of Prudence's notes. After pressing "X" on "The Diary of Prudence Holmes" and "Mr. Kite's Instructions" the achievement popped. Plenty of bugged achievements in this game but I thought I would put what worked for me out there.

Didn't pop for me luckily I had a save at the right place and did as suggested PseudoPsychoMan suggested and redid the one in the bathroom.

Update. I just got this to unlock. I started my second play through and got it to pop during Ollies story. When you reply to the whereabouts of Prudence Holmes I chose the option She's around. I sent the message and then answered the door for the bobby. No achievement popped so I went to main menu to try the other option and upon pressing A to go to main screen it popped.
Original - I tried picking up Clientele along with damp diary for every character. I even started a second campaign and picked up everything for Arthur and Sally and still nothing. Along with reloading saves and re picking up books. I have no idea what to do.

Even following the full guide by AussieGamer17, this trophy could still bug on you.

For a start pick these letters up rather than using the read option. Dev added two options to interact with collectibles and this could be why it has problems.

So you have three in Arthurs playthrough.
1 - The Diary of Prudence Holmes": During Arthur's Intro, in the safe house, it's on the sink in the toilet area.

2 - Mr. Kite's Instructions": When you leave the church after tearing your suit, its the house directly facing you. Crouch when inside and its on the table across from the fire place.

3 - Damp Diary": Located in the Maidenholm Safehouse, sitting at a table near the Chemistry Set and Workbench. This will also appear on Sally and Ollie's playthrough if you happen to use these safehouse with those characters. Might as well pick them up to be on the safe side.

Sally's Playthrough = None
There is a file connected to this little story but speculation on if it actually counts or not. The note is called 'Clientele' and its on the lab table where your lab equipment is. Its an area that is part of the story so you can't really miss it. As I said people agree and disagree on this counting but best to be safe.

Ollie's playthrough also has three.
Warning - The letters in Ollies playthrough are the ones that could bug out on you. When you leave the army barracks you will be given the quest to visit Miss Byng. What I would do if I was you, is find the nearest safehouse hatch near that quest and make a couple of saves just so that you don't have to overwrite them. This way if you collect the last letter and the trophy doesn't unlock you can revert back to these saves and try to get Ollie's letters again once you complete the main story. This is what happened to me and when reloading the save I picked up Ollie's 1st letter again and the 'Hot on her heels' trophy popped and got me the platinum for the base game.

1 - "By The Time You Read This": Found during the "No Place Like Home" quest. After tying up Miss Byng, go upstairs and find her bedroom. Open the door on the other side of the room and follow the stairs. The note will be near the sink.

2 - "Whereabouts of Prudence Holmes". Also found during the "No Place Like Home" Quest. You will be given it automatically after answering the Blower the second time. It's not confirmed but when you answer the blower the first time, respond in a strict manner. Later in the quest you will have to make another reply and this time you should respond with 'she's around'. Again not confirmed to be 100% but other people think its the better choice to make.

3 - "Double Plus Unhappy Articles": Found during Ollie's last mission. After taking the elevator to the executive committee, open the glass door to your left and the note will be at the table to your right.
