Just got this with this method 6/1/24. You have to find just the right spot when he's in-between the trees at the top for it to work. For me it was a little to the left and down from his highest point between them while he's walking his circular path. Too close to the edge of the water and his attacks can still hit you.
Go up top to the edge in the water and observe his path. Then you'll have to move a little closer to land the first hit, which will be where stands the whole fight, so might take a couple tries to get it right. Head back as far up as you can go and start landing arrows and watching out for lightning. It didn't actually show the animation for the lightning strikes, but I was in the cross hairs once and did take a small amount of damage. He spawned only one skeleton the whole fight. This worked great after a few attempts and finding the right spot so don't give up.

Game must have been updated because you can't do this anymore, and everyone I've spoken to can't either. A lot of gamers are missing this achievemnt. Biggest pile of shit I've ever played.

I found the easiest way to defeat him was to stand at the map limit to the north of him and fire arrows at him. This method meant I could only get hit by his lightning attack and was out of range for his other attack, it also stopped the skeletons who he spawned from coming at me as they only seemed to come at me if I hit them. This worked for me on PS and Xbox
The, Pants, Party
The Weakwood King is the second boss that will not have an associated quest, and he will only spawn if you have completed every other side-quest (achievement) in the game. You'll need the three keys from the other bosses as well. Once you have done that, find his throne all the way to the east in the swamp and face him.
He is yet another boss who will have a patterned three sword swing that puffs up a damage line, but this time it's pink! That is easy to avoid. He also has a lightning attack like Lillian, but this targets many more spots on the ground. The biggest issue with this boss is that he summons skeleton knights to fight with him, and these take a LONG time to die. Normally, by the time I kited one away from the boss and killed it peacefully, I'd return to the boss only to find another one had spawned. So, what I ended up doing was simply kiting all the skeleton soldiers in circles around the throne and waiting out the King's attacks (he never moved, not sure if that is always the case) and got in three hits between each attack phase. I could only do three compared to the normal six because I had to then resume running away from the skeletons. By the end of the fight I had five skeletons trailing me. Luckily, the achievement will unlock and the game will end as soon as the King dies, so you don't have to fuss with the skeletons. This also erases your save data, but since you can't face the King without every other achievement, no worries there.
