How to unlock the Good Soul (III) achievement in West of Dead - Definitive Guide

Just got this achievement today. If you have beaten the game and are able to help the blue lost souls this is what I was doing. I was starting the game and listening to if he said one of his pals was nearby. That meant there was a blue soul on the first level and nearly every single time there was a yellow/gold souls as well. So I was just running by all enemies till I found either and getting 6 kills and then finding the other and getting 6 kills.

I got the achievement on accepting a gold soul which was unfortunate because I was hoping it would be a blue so I could confirm if they counted.

This has to be the quickest way to get the souls out of the way. 3-5 mins for 1 to 2 souls if blue counts.

Don't think so, none of the 3 story based souls count.

I only ever find blue souls when he says his old posse is nearby. However, if he says something AND there’s an outlaw then there was a gold one 100% of the time

don't think blue souls add to it because I've helped 4 gold, 1 white and 6 blues but haven't popped the second achievement. I think it is just white/gold souls. Similar to how blue outlaws don't add to the count.

edit* the second achievement popped when I had 10 blue souls, 9 gold souls and 1 white soul saved. I saved a gold one last, after having saved 10 blue souls. Blue souls do not count.

You also don't need to complete the burden. Accept and quit.

I'm not sure if some of the souls count or not but I can confirm 100% that the yellow/gold souls definitely count. Was farming the first level over and over and my achievement popped when I accepted a yellow/gold soul on my last attempt. I just accepted any lost soul on that first level just in case (as I understand the blue ones may not count in this buggy game) so I focused on the righteous/posse souls and the yellow/gold ones I'd get in the first level. It worked so just farm the first level over and over for outlaws and lost souls if you've finished all the other achievements.

After doing some testing on what ParticleDuality mentioned. I think I somewhat figured this out, and how to get the normal souls to appear.

If when starting a new run, he mentions that a posse member is nearby, you'll have around a 70-80% chance that a normal soul will show up in the Crypt. This seems to happen whether the first outlaw is in the Crypt or not. Him mentioning there being a posse member, and an outlaw also being in the Crypt, doesn't seem to affect the spawning of a normal soul or not. What it can affect though, is the soul appearing in the area right after killing the outlaw. But the soul can still appear in the areas before the outlaw as well.

Farming the Crypt for souls and outlaws over and over is the way to go. I wasted many hours on the Windows 10 version just running through the first three stages over and over, pretty much never finding any souls.

Not sure what you mean, they were always blue, or at least mostly blue to me.

Really wish people wouldn't call them blue souls then they aren't blue in all the areas they appear

Ok so basically in my game the souls appear a different color depending on the area that they're in so in my first playthrough I had blue souls in the hunt and in the church so idk if those even counted now based on what people said blue souls don't count but sometimes the story ones aren't even blue to be based on the area I am in

First of all you need 50 souls, not 20, and blue souls do not count for this achievement. You DO NOT need to finish the level or lift the curse. I just made sure the save icon showed in the corner and quit to the menu to restart. With that out of the way lets get to the good stuff. I would advise not defeating the preacher for the 3rd time which is after beating the church level. Doing this adds blue souls to the mix and could make this achievement even longer than what it already is.

When you start a new run there is a code in the bottom right corner, it's a combination of letters and numbers but we only care about the last two numbers. If it ends in a 44 then there is a lost soul in the level. If it ends in a 46 then there is a lost soul and an outlaw. So if you start a new run and see a code like this 14RP587X:144 or 14RP587X:146 then this has a lost soul for you, anything else just quit out and start a new run.

I don't know if this code works on all levels but it's worked every time on the first level. Hopefully this cuts down on the time to farm.

I wish I had seen this sooner. The best and fastest way to grind this. Just accept to help the white or gold soul and then quit out.

Glad it helped and thanks for reminding me to add that to the solution.

Hello everybody.

I believe that many are having doubts about how to win this trophy.

For the trophies to be conquered, it is necessary to help 50 lost souls. First we have to understand that a lost soul is not a suitable soul(blue soul of William Mason's friends).

We have to free souls that don't have the blue color, attention to this, blue souls do not influence the archievement of this trophy. Just accept the curse of lost souls(souls with a color other than blue) and when you total 50 of them the trophy will be won.

I take the opportunity to mention one more tip, when defeating the final boss for the first time, the incidence of appearances of lost souls becomes very low, once chapter 4 is released, suitable souls (blue souls) start to appear more frequently, "disturbing" a little the appearance of lost souls.

With a lot of patience and perseverance this trophy is conquered.

Good luck.

If you go for this trophy, it means that you are left with only him and 50 outcasts, and most likely, you are already tired of the game. Here's the fastest way to farm both souls and outcasts:
At the beginning of the race, in the bar, listen to what the character says. If he says that one of his friends is nearby, it means that there is a blue soul in the first location (they, however, do not count, so you don’t have to waste time on them) and with a high probability you can find an ordinary yellow one nearby. You stupidly run through enemies and look for the soul, along the way you will stumble upon an outcast. By the way, even if you were killed under the influence of a curse, the help is counted, that is, the main thing is to take on the burden. Having searched the location for souls and outcasts, I went to the menu and started a new run, because further it is more difficult, and in the first location you almost certainly know whether there is a soul. If the character says that he doesn’t feel his friends or they are somewhere further away, then start a new race. Each wound takes 5-10 minutes in this way.
