How to unlock the Lawman achievement in West of Dead - Definitive Guide

The description is misleading - it's actually 50 outlaws ('L' in the achievement icon is the roman numeral for 50). Also the outlaws that are replacements for the preacher aren't counted (i.e. those in the mini levels after The Mines and The Town).
You can find where the outlaws are going to be located for your run in the bar - the 3 wanted posters on the back right of the north wall will list them in the level order.
I initially used them to plan my route through the dungeon, but in the end skipped those in the Swamp/Canyons/Graveyard as the added difficulty of those levels caused too much frustration when trying to get to the final boss.
When trying to farm them, I'd check the posters in the bar and if The Crypts wasn't listed, I'd quit and start a new run.

I was tracking my counts and it unlocked for me at 55. It's possible I miscounted somewhere or there's a bug in the game.

Super helpful, thanks! I initially only talked to the lady, hadn't seen the interaction prompt on the posters.

I kept track and it unlocked at 55 kills for me as well.

Do you need to finish the level on the crypts for it to count or can you start a new run right after the outlaw is defeated?

@PWolf3 - you don't need to finish the level. I think you DO need to wait until the "Outlaw Defeated" text shows up.

Anyone know if the outlaws that are subbed in for the preacher battles count? I was sure I had 10 including those but I may have miscounted my tally, can't tell if those ones count or not.

@Seitzz, the Preacher subs don't count.
Same goes for the Win10 version if anyone's wondering.

Got it thanks for the quick reply! If anyone is wondering by the time I banished the preacher for good I was at about 25ish outlaws defeated.

If you farm in the first location, check the board in the bar, the location of the outcasts in the current race is written there: if the first poster does not say about the outcast in the Krypt, it means he won’t be here, start again. On foreign forums, people write that the trophy drops after 55. I also counted 54 or 55.
