How to unlock the Sherlock achievement in Westerado: Double Barreled - Definitive Guide

As stated, you need to gather all clues about the murderer.

When you press cn_Y you will be taken to your map. Press cn_LSr to get to the image of the murderer, along with a list of all of the clues to the right of it. This image will rotate through all of the options that you don't have a clue for, such as shirt color, hat type, belt buckle color and size, etc. When you know everything about the murderer, the image will be static with nothing changing. And the list of clues to the right will give every detail. Also, when you get a clue, you will no longer get the animation where the screen turns black upon receiving it. Sometimes the image will be static when you still need a clue or two, so keep getting clues until you get the achievement.

You get one clue when you start the game.

Most major quest lines give you a number of clues.

There are also a bunch of minor quests that give one clue and don't affect the ending if you are attempting to get a particular ending for the associated achievement.

These are:
Concerned Wife - Located South of the Sheriff's office. Go fetch her husband from the Saloon.
Teary-eyed Woman - North of Clintville. Kill all of the bandits in the Graveyard.
Beat the entire table at poker - Either Saloon. Keep winning hands until your only option is to leave the table.
Lose all of your money at poker - Either Saloon. Lose hands until you are out of money.
Talk to the Director - Far North of the map straight up from the Mine Entrance. You will have to go around a locked gate.
Miner's Wife - In front of the Mine Entrance. Go find the husband in the mines. If you reunite them you get one clue. If you tell her he is dead, you get two clues, one from her, and one from him.
Ostrich Banditos - Five guys located around the map. Find them all and then go back to the first one you talk to. It doesn't matter who you start with.
Golden Buffalo - Eight Altar pieces located around the map. Find all pieces and then go one screen to the West of the Indian Camp and talk to Iiniwa who is standing there.
Bonafide Bandit - Three statues located around the mines. Find all statues and then go talk to the Bonafide Bandit.
Miss Hatt - Haberdasher in Santa Anna. Talk to her, then find her three helpers for her store.

If you still don't get it and you don't care about the ending or are going for the Shoulda Took Off ending, do more of the major quest lines.

Notes from the comments:

After some discussion, I believe that the randomness of the clues given may make it so that you can get enough duplicate clues so that you don't get all of the clues in any given play through.

Blost made a rather long comment that I won't copy into this solution, but that may be helpful to those that are still having issues with this. I recommended to Blost to make this his own solution, but he chose not to. I really feel it should be a stand alone solution.

Just going to add what worked for me after countless hours and tries of basically doing every single quest I could after getting all 78 other achievements and still failing to unlock this, including reinstalling game and deleting my save game and starting over.

So what worked for me was starting a new game (I skipped the tutorial), went and did the concerned wife quest and then talked to the sheriff. He sends you to rancher Bob, go and do the buffalo run with him (I failed it intentionally but I'm not sure it matters) then do his next quest to gather up the ranchers, I had all three join the cause but I'm not sure it matters. Now start the attack on the oil tycoon and go with them but don't assist, you want to fail here. After failing return to Bob's Ranch and talk to the barely living rancher that stayed behind. He will give you the full description of the murderer.

Now I did not unlock anything here still, I went and did the graveyard quest for teary-eyed and the haberdasher quest to find help for Miss Hatt. Both quests gave me the black clue card pop-up and after the second one the achievement popped. It still might be random but even so, you increase your odds greatly if you have the full description before you start clearing most of the quests, otherwise you could run out like I seemed to do nearly a dozen times prior to this.

And I should add that I tried this method on a game where I had the full description beforehand and it didn't seem to work, not saying it won't for anyone else, but I think napoearth might be correct with the duplicate clues messing up progress. Also, feel free to add this info to your solution, then perhaps it won't feel like my time was wasted for nothing lol.

It was a fun little game but after chasing this final achievement I'm happy to never have to play it again.

I've done all of these..have a static image..also last clue I did get, there wasn't a black screen animation either. Any ideas? The o lay one I don't think I got was from losing poker. I lost at each one a few times and they just say I suck and should come play some more. Very frustrating

Sorry, I can't be of more help. I had some trouble with this one as well, I just kept getting clues until it finally popped. Maybe try a new run through?

I think the randomness of what clue you get may just make it so that you get enough duplicate clues to not be able to get this achievement.

I definitely believe that for a game of this "quality." Lol 😆 thumbs up tho!

@Blost, thanks so much! I did it in a different order but the wounded rancher + teary-eyed + ms Hatt combo works.

I recommended @Blost to make his comment a solution, but he chose not to. It definitely merits it's own solution.

Blost's solution worked like a charm after sitting on 78/79 for a good while. Much appreciated.

For those following the walkthrough and concerned about getting this achievement, do not fret just yet! Feel free to continue following the walkthrough and you may unlock this achievement incidentally. I was able to unlock this during the "Murdering Mass" part of the walkthrough. Seems to be dependent on RNG regarding which clues you're given and whether they count towards the "Sherlock" achievement. I had just finished making peace between the Indians and the Military and got my final clue from the Indian Chief when this popped. The final clue DID have the black screen animation in case you were wondering.

Just leaving another comment to say @Blost's solution worked perfectly the first time I tried it. I was unable to get this achievement to pop while completing every other ending
