How to unlock the Wallowing in Failure achievement in Westerado: Double Barreled - Definitive Guide

So this is originally from the steam guide but it wasn't actually written in the right order so here is the proper way to get it:

1. New game
2. Go to Clintville & speak with Banker
3. Then go to Fort Motors & speak with Lt. Fort
4. Go back to Clintville and help Concerned Wife
5. Go to Sheriff and chat
6. Sheriff asks you to help Bob. Now go to Oil Tycoon.
7. Speak with Oil Tycoon boss (select "Got a job?" then draw a revolver)
8. Go to Sheriff and tell him you need help WITH Bank delivery
9. Go to Driver in Santa Anna's and begin Bank Delivery mission
10. Fail the mission (do not shoot the unarmed thieving bandits), and speak with sheriff right there after you fail.
11. Speak with Sheriff again back in Clintville and go with the OPTION "Oil Tycoon is planning..."
12. Draw revolver and then load it in order to convince Sheriff
13. Once convinced head to Rancher Bob
14. Start the Buffalo delivery and Fail the mission (shooting the buffalo yourself is the fastest way, shotgun is extra fast.) Speak with Sheriff right there to hear about his failures.
15. Go to Santa Anna and speak with Miss Hatt. Do the mission to Help her get 3 workers by quickly just talking to all females outside until you find 3. Talk to Miss Hat again and request to do the Hat delivery.
16. Speak with Sheriff again in Clintville. Draw revolver and load it to then be able to convince Sheriff to help.
17. Next you need to speak with Driver in Santa Anna (Select "I'm on behalf of Miss Hatt), begin hat escort mission
18. Fail the mission (do not shoot the unarmed thieving bandits)
19. Speak with Sheriff again right there after failing and he'll talk about his failures for the third time saying hes done forever.
Achievement Unlocked

And special thanks to Honcho for helping test this out.

So I haven’t played this game in over 2 years so only vaguely remembered the map layout and definitely don’t remember the dialogue choices. But I went ahead and loaded it up and got the sheriff to fail 3 times again on the first attempt. So the dialogue choices are either obvious choices or it doesn’t matter what you choose besides where I specify in the guide.
For example step 2 says to go speak with Lt. Fort. I chose to not say I’m a soldier and yet she enlisted me to help with a delivery anyways.

When talking to the banker you obviously want to get a delivery mission so choose the option where you request to help. Same with Miss Hat after helping her find workers request to help do the Lt fort delivery.

The only time the dialogue is really important and not obvious is the Oil Tycoon but I specify to choose “Got a Job” and the draw your revolver. He’ll like your attitude and offer you a job if you holster your weapon which you should do since you obviously need to get the delivery job.

Lastly for convincing the Sheriff to help you for the 3rd time I found it is specific dialogue that you need to choose in order to convince him to go after you draw the revolver and cock it. However, if you choose the wrong option and he says your on your own you can literally speak to him again unlimitedly and do the conversation over so that you can choose the right other right option and convince him.

Anyways long response but I hope it helps, did you try already and got confused or were you just seeing this before attempting and thinking it’s not enough. It’s an achievement to most likely go for once you’ve already beat the game and understand the locations which you have so it shouldn’t be difficult but let me know if you’re still having trouble.

This guide works great. One thing though: The Driver never let me go on the Hat Delivery mission. Instead, he only prompted me to go on the Banker mission again after already failing it. Doing so (and failing it again) still worked though -- After failing and talking to the Sheriff he still talked about it "Being the last time" and the achievement popped.

I don't feel like there's enough direction here. There are too many variables in the conversations you have with the NPCs.

Great solution! Like some of the previous commenters, I was also able to unlock this achievement by repeating a failed job.
