How to unlock the Keep Your Balance achievement in WET - Definitive Guide

In order to get this achievement, you need to have at least 50,000 style points available to spend. This means no buying upgrades (or at least only a couple), so you're going to stay very weak throughout the game. Because of this you may want to start a new game on easy mode.

Some tips to maximize your score:

1. Keep your multiplier up! This is especially important during spawn door sections. Just keep shooting.

2. Don't destroy spawn doors until they stop spawning enemies.

3. Killing bad guys while sliding after a dive will get you twice as many style points as when you kill them normally.

4. Destroy all crates to make sure you get any bonus style points.

If you don't buy any upgrades and follow the tips above you should reach 50,000 style points in the middle of chapter 8, "Breaking the Ice."

This achievement is best done while beating the game on Golden Bullets difficulty. You won't have to worry about fighting tougher opponents on higher levels because you will always have one-hit kills.

I was able to unlock this achievement during the first arena in Chapter 8, "Breaking the Ice" on easy difficulty. While Golden Bullets lets you do one-hit kills, I chose the Easy difficulty because enemy hits seem to take less life away per hit.

If I haven't completed this by the end of one playthrough, do I have to start a new game or will subsequent playthroughs/levels add to it?

I got the achievement on the end of chapter 7 with no upgrades. Thanks for the solution.

(Six years later)... It's important to note that buying absolutely no upgrades will make chapter six really difficult. I went that route, playing on hard for my first playthrough, and for a while thought I would have to start the game over. There's no way to go back to the beginning of a chapter or to earlier checkpoints (unless you're manually backing up your save), so if you get into a situation and need upgrades, you're screwed. Chapter six has a crazy difficulty spike, and I guarantee you're going to wish you had upgraded your health at least. Probably your pistols, too.

The good news is that it is possible without any upgrades. It's just unnecessarily difficult. Do yourself a favor and spend 3,000 total on one upgrade each in health, pistol speed, and pistol damage.

I would recommend doing this achievement in "golden bullets" game mode which is unlocked after beating the game once. You will die quicker as usual but so do the enemies too. It will just take one shot for every regular enemy which means you dont need to upgrade anything :) My achievement unlocked in chapter 8.
Hope that was helpful.

At first i thought this achievement was very luck based and that there was no definative way of getting it. So i decided to make this guide for you to compare your playthrough with mine to see if you're on track for this achievement.

I will be be telling you how many style points i had at certain points in the game so you can see if you are on course for the achievement or not.

Firstly you must have completed the game at least once to unlock the Golden Bullets difficulty, this makes all of your bullets much more powerful and can dispatch enemies within 2-4 shots, however your life will drain much more quickly.

Points to remember:

- Look around for the pick-ups that give you style points, they're relatively easy to find.

- Try to chain your kills together and constantly retain a high multiplier.

- During the sequences where you have to disable the spawn points try to pick up the pickups that add to your multiplier. These are huge red rings with a number inside i.e. x2, x3, and x4. But do not go out of your way to get them, if they are near you and you can get them without losing a lot of health then go for it.

- During the sequences where you have to disable the spawn points be sure to keep killing the enemies until they have finished spawning, but be careful not to close the gates too early by shooting at them. All it takes is a few stray bullets and you could jeopardise your chance of getting 50,000 points.

- Remember not to upgrade any of Rubi’s abilities or do not upgrade any of your guns.

I personally upgraded health to the maximum as soon as i could which cost me 6,000 style points. This is strongly advised.

Chapter 1 – Chinatown Rundown
Finished the chapter with: 3,362 Style Points.(I fully upgraded Rubi’s health here which costs 6,000 SP)

Chapter 2 – Vehicular Carnage
Finished the chapter with: 3,787 Style Points

Chapter 3 – Boneyard Workout
Finished the chapter with: 3,787 Style Points

Chapter 4 – You Dirty Rat
Finished the chapter with: 12,540 Style Points

Chapter 5 - Everybody Runs
Finished the chapter with: 19,630 Style Points

Chapter 6 - Falling for Kafka
Finished the chapter with: 20,165 Style Points

Chapter 7 - Uninvited Guest
Finished the chapter with: 29,432 Style Points

Chapter 8 - Breaking the Ice
Finished the chapter with: 38,877 Style Points

Chapter 9 – The Opera House
Finished the chapter with: 49,250 Style Points

Chapter 10 - Shock Therapy
Finished the chapter with: 50,179 Style Points

Chapter 11 - Road Rage
Finished the chapter with: 51,339 Style Points

Chapter 12 - Head to Head
Finished the chapter with: 59,158 Style Points

*Near the end of this chapter i was then able to upgrade all of Rubi’s abilities and upgrade all of my guns. This gave me the ‘Hey Big Spender’ achievement*

I got this achievement on hard. What i did was i upgraded my health to max along with all the pistol stats. After that i didnt spend anything. The main thing was when doing the arena make sure to kill everything that comes out of the doors before killing the doors. I did that and got 62k by the end of the game.

You will earn points for your kills throughout the game. You won't be able to upgrade, make sure you have a high multiplier as often as possible and pull off acrobatic kills as often as possible. Rage mode kills do not count towards this score. You need to make it from chapter 1 to 12 without spending your points on upgrades and make sure you earn enough points while in large battles to end the game with a high enough score. Golden bullets mode should make this a lot easier than trying to run through on the harder skill levels.

I recommend doing this on the easy difficulty as you won't have so many issues with dying.

I found this easiest to get during the Golden Bullets run. During that run, I followed the same “arena strategy” found under the “Target Score Junkie!” trophy, whenever there was an arena battle. However, since health is limited on this run, I upgraded my life (and only my life) right away. Even doing this, I was still able to get 50,000 points well before the game was close to ending. I also recommend going for the “Hey Big Spender!” trophy after you’ve gotten this one.

Unfortunately, the achievement is not cumulative. 50t must be available and collected in one playthrough. So you'll have to go through one playthrough without buying upgrades. But considering that we need to go through the story mode 3 times, then everything is not so bad =))).
