How to unlock the Invulnerable: JUNGLE achievement in Where Are My Friends? - Definitive Guide
UPDATE: As of 4/17/18, this achievement is now obtainable! The turtles at the end of the fourth section now move up instead of down, thus making the raft to advance to the last section of the level possible to take without dying. However, unfortunately it seems to be very glitchy at the moment. Poor RadicalSniper99 went through this level FOUR times without dying until it finally unlocked for him. To avoid the risk of having this achievement glitch on you, it is recommended to delete and reinstall the game as that's what worked for him until it finally popped.
While this achievement is still quite difficult, it's not as daunting as it initially seems - mainly due to the fact that you can restart each individual section/block until you manage zero deaths on those instead of the entirety of the level. There's five sections (or "blocks" as the game describes them) during the level, so for instance say you manage zero deaths on the first section but die during the second - Instead of restarting the entire level, you can just pause and go to "restart block," so you don't have to do the first section or start the entire level over again.
A few things to note here:
- It must be done in one sitting (The entire level only takes about 20 minutes to complete without dying on each section, however it will probably take a lot longer considering how many times you restart)
- The achievement *should* pop right after you jump off into space at the end of the fifth section
- For the top-down scrolling sections, your center of movement is solely based on Wheye's eye (and not his wheel). With this in mind, it is much easier to navigate some of the raft jumping parts of the level when you know you can jump a bit later from some platforms
I recommend playing through the level at least once so you will be familiar with how everything works (as the level is exactly the same every time you play it) and because it will be much easier going for the no death achievement a second time around. You will also be more than likely to die at least once on the fifth section while attempting to get this anyways:
It helps a ton, trust me. I recorded myself playing through each of the five sections and I'll be adding notes where necessary:
Section 1:
Nothing really to worry about here as this part is pretty boring. Once you become familiar with timing your jump against the spike plants, this section is a piece of cake. Just jump over the spikes/cacti where needed and smash when the swarms are on you. It's the easiest and also the shortest section in the level, by far.
Section 2:
This is probably the second hardest section in the level as both of the top-down scroller sections require a lot of precise jumping, especially during the parts where moving platforms/rafts are involved. Most of the time for the spike plants (and this also applies to the fourth section) you want to avoid the spikes they shoot at you with two consecutive jumps. Your first jump should be right before you're lined up horizontally with them, and your second should be immediately after your first which should dodge the diagonal one they shoot. Also, make sure you're holding for slightly longer when entering and exiting through tunnels because I've gotten killed many times when it seemed like I should have successfully cleared them. The first 10-15 seconds of this were cut out for some reason although you're not missing out on anything.
Section 3:
The platforming in this section is exactly the same as it was in the first one, but introduces the vine switching and the water (Flappy Bird) parts. The vine switching parts are fairly easy to remember, and while the water parts take some time to get used to they are also not too bad. Make sure you get the wooden planks part from 0:57-1:22 down because it's easy to forget when to break them.
Section 4:
The second of the two top-down scroller levels and by far the hardest section of the level, without question. You will be making a lot of close calls navigating around volcanos, turtles, bushes, vines and snakes - while also making some precise raft jumps and tough spike plant dodges. Never let go of the button on the part with the tunnels from 0:53-1:08. Right after that is probably the easiest part of the level where you simply avoid dark clouds for a short period of time, but be careful with the spike plants at 1:45 as they can easily trip you up. At 2:30 you always want to take the right path instead of the left, or else you will be faced with jumping over the turtles while also crawling through the tunnels. At 2:47 comes arguably the hardest part of the section where you have to make some very difficult jumps over gaps in the bridges. I would not recommend taking the right path with the isolated platforms during the second bridge, as it is much harder to get through. The jump to and from the single plank at 2:57 can be very tricky to pull off, so make sure you're jumping at the latest possible time in order to clear the gaps successfully. This is where the idea of your movement being centralized around Wheye's eye comes in. After all of that, the rest of the section isn't too troublesome.
Section 5:
The same difficulty as the third section, really. I noticed if I jumped too early off the ledge at 0:39, sometimes I wouldn't have enough height to make it to the next checkpoint, so jump at the latest possible time you can. Be careful on the water part from 0:50-1:17, especially when jumping out of it as sometimes going too early or too late will result in you hitting the wall instead of making it on top of land. There will be two vine switching sections starting at 2:00, just take the route I did in the clip and you should be fine. After that, the rest of the level is pretty easy - just don't get startled by the moving camera.
Hopefully after all that is done you should have your achievement! *fingers crossed*

Thanks for the very well written guide. Do you know if the other two no death achieves are also possible to unlock as of 4/17 or if they are still no go?

Yeah - they are both possible to unlock just very, very difficult to do and will require insane patience and skill (and a good amount of memorization). This achievement is the easiest out of all three of them because you can just restart the sections of the level until you manage zero deaths on each while compared to the Cave and Bunker levels where you have to do the entirety (full level) of them without dying. The problem with the Cave level is that it's significantly long and the controls/mechanics can easily make you die in places you shouldn't. The Bunker level is slightly shorter overall but will require the reaction time of a god in some of the rooms as your movement has to be near perfect at pretty much all times. I haven't really tried going for the other two achievements yet besides a couple of attempts at the Cave level, which so far I've only managed to do 2 rooms back to back without dying (out of the 7 total).
