How to unlock the Illusions of Taiping Taoism achievement in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Definitive Guide

This is by far the hardest achievement in the DLC for the sole purpose of unlocking it. To unlock the final sub-mission called 'Beyond the Heavens' I've read that you have to beat all main missions and sub-missions prior to this sub-mission. But by far the hardest part to unlock this sub-mission is finding the three scrolls; The Scroll of Man, Earth, and Heaven. Throughout my playthrough of the DLC I'd only found two scrolls and it took a long time to find the last one.

The Scroll of Heaven is in the Main Mission Sons of the Yellow Heaven. It is located after the Second Battle Flag on your way to the Panda's location. when you get on the roof of the building where the hole is for the Panda don't drop down, instead stay on the roof and it will be there as a pick-up.

The Scroll of Earth is in the Sub-Mission A Requiem for the Deceased. It is located after the Second Battle Flag inside the temple/building where Headless-Fire Demon walks back and forth. Inside the building there are Terracotta Soldiers moving around. The scroll is located in a big chest in a small room next to a Terracotta Soldier

The Scroll of Man is in the Sub-Mission An Everlasting Regret. It is located next to the Final Battle Flag, if you start next to the flag instead of going forward towards the end of the mission backtrack slightly till you see a building with the big-monkey enemy hanging out on the roof, it will jump down and attack you. After killing it it's in a small chest on the left side corner of the building if you are facing the building

Upon getting all the requirements: all other missions finished, and all three scrolls the final Sub-Mission will unlock. The mission itself is a gauntlet where you face three waves of enemies with one wave putting in an Invader in it then a boss, then it repeats the cycle with the final wave before the final boss has two Invaders. The bosses themselves are the illusion versions of the Leaders of the Yellow Turban; Illusion General of Man (First Boss of the game in his second form), Illusion General of Earth (Weird Taoist guy who teleports and uses fire), and the Illusion General of Heaven (Second Boss of the DLC). All have the exact same move set from the Base Game with the exception of the General of Heaven who has the move set from his encounter in DLC where he can spawn in the other two like he did in that fight. Upon defeating General of Heaven the achievement will pop(and if this is your last mission like it was for me; you'll get the achievement for completing all the main and sub-missions for the DLC). And don't worry about having to start from the beginning if you die it puts you at the current wave you are in (example if you die and the first boss, you'll start at the first boss)

I wish I could give you some strategy on how to fight the bosses themselves, but everyone's load-out is different compared to mine, I played on normal difficulty (No NG+) and it was recommended Level 107 and I was way above the level, but still struggled. I wrote this guide to help find those scrolls for those who are struggling to complete this achievement. I hope this helps. Good Luck

Hint hint; Electricity skills are your best friend

I used Fire, Water, and Electricity in this fight. The one Water spell that summons a icicle from the sky does help a little bit to destroy the talismans he uses to summon the other two bosses; the Taoist guy dies to one use while the other boss dies to three uses, but i usually just aim for the taoist when he summons them and just run from the other. I didn't unlock the one Water spell that summons a volley of icicles from the sky because I didn't put enough levels into Water as I did Wood and Fire. Maybe when the next DLC comes out I'll put some into Water

I'm pretty sure you don't need to have Cu Chu and Dian Wei at sworn brother for this battlefield to unlock, I had them at 5 and 6 and it unlocked after I got the scrolls and completed all the other battlefields

You just need the scrolls, I did this before getting the sworn brothers or completing the battlefields. Electricity is definitely your friend. All i used was electricity on my weapon. The last boss, if you stay in his face and keep applying electricity you will knock him out of the attack that spawns enemies most of the time. Keep applying electricity and stay on him to finish it quickly!

This sub mission was a real pain for me also (mainly the last boss) even at my characters level of 145.... but what really helped me out was stocking up on fire bombs and equipping gear that enhanced my fire damage and burn accumulation on enemies also I set up my wizardry spells to fire based spells.

I struggled with the last boss as well at level 105. Most of the attack will one shot you, so you have to dodge / parry everything. Focus on fire damage. When the boss summons 2 enemies, try to kill 1 and escape until the other disappears. You can use an elixir during the second part on the fight to reduce the difference of moral between the boss and you. Courage.

This is a genuinely hard achievement for this game. If you haven't messed with magic, like me, then this will be frustratingly hard. It took me 4 hours and most of that time was on the final fight. You'll have to dodge everything and still there will be many times where you're 1-shot mid dodge or stunned by a single attack that is followed up with your death. Use an elixir when he's half phase and use whatever divine beast can kill his summoning orbs during phase 2. I used the turtle and had to kill the second orb myself. His summons do seem to have a duration limit if you can find a way to kite them during phase 2, but it's best to just kill them because they also hit hard enough to 3-shot you. Use fire bombs when you do your critical hit because they do set him on fire and stagger him a little.

I will also add it's possible I forgot mechanics of this game since it has been a while, but he has two red attacks, an overhead swing and a side step/stab. Despite being able to dodge/parry every other attack consistently I failed to parry that attack 90% of the time and a majority of the time he would stab me in the middle of a dodge. I have no idea what to do during that attack so I dodged as close to him as possible and relied on luck to not get hit.

This achievement unlocks upon beating the sub battlefield 'Beyond the Heavens.' Refer to The Unscrupulous Hero (15G) for unlocking this sub battlefield, since it's the only one that doesn't unlock by conventional means.

This sub battlefield is a gauntlet against enemies and all three of the Yellow Turban bosses from the base game. The good news is that the game gives you a checkpoint after every single wave, meaning you'll be able to refill your health potions. The bad news is that you only get a bump in fortitude rank each time you kill a boss, and even then, you'll constantly be at a 5+ Morale Rank disadvantage against enemies and bosses. This is, in my opinion, what really makes this mission challenging, because a single missed deflection on a boss's red Critical Blow and it's essentially a one hit kill on you because you're such a lower rank.

Thankfully, you can use the single battle flag to change your build whenever. This is my experience and strategy for each:

  • No special strategy on enemies. Rush right at the first one and take it out so it's easy to focus on the other one or two
  • On the named human enemies, I just stun locked them: spam button-x.png attacks and end with a button-y.png attack. Even if they block the button-x.png attack, the button-y.png attack breaks their block, damages them, and fills their spirit meter. Eventually you'll be able to do a Fatal Strike and finish them off
  • For the General of Man, he's very weak to fire. Use a fire Divine Beast, equip a good fire spell and/or the fire spell that sets your weapon on fire. Keep your distance and just wait for him to do Critical Blows so you can deflect them. Essentially, same strategy as your first against him on the first mission of the base game, except use fire to speed it up and sometimes stun him
  • General of Earth is surprisingly weak to earth. I used to earth pillar attack constantly. This fight can actually be very easy. Just keep your distance very far from him, and it'll be extremely easy to avoid his elemental attacks. His only two red Critical Blows are both so obviously telegraphed and easy to deflect, that doing so should be your main way to take him out
  • General of Heaven is weak to poison, but fire is good too. I used Tengshe, who drops poisons pools all over, as my Divine Beast, the fire spell to set my weapon on fire, and the earth pillar spell. The main frustration with this boss is that he can spawn the other two Generals. The good news though is that these spawned bosses only exist for maybe 15-20 seconds before they disappear, so if you can just avoid them, they'll eventually just go away. However, with this build I was able to actually interrupt his spawning of these bosses every single time. I started the fight by setting my sword on fire, charging him, using the earth pillars, then a full combo with a spirit attack at the end. with my sword on fire, this stunned him and cancelled his spawning every single time I did it. A use of Tengshe will interrupt another spawn. I saved this for his last one where he spawns both bosses together. I think I just got lucky the second spawning time that I happened to use multiple elements on him at once. Like with the other two bosses, keep your distance and wait for him to either jump up and land on you (deflect this and then punish him) or wait for a Critical Blow deflection. I used Tengshe immediately after he charged up for the second half of the fight, and stayed extremely aggressive with earth pillars and fire sword to finish off the second phase as quickly as I could

The trophy is given after completing the very last mission “Beyond the Skies” in the first DLC.
The spell “Perfect Recovery” helped in battles, which blocks an enemy attack once.
