How to unlock the Death of Elai achievement in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Definitive Guide
Story-related; cannot be missed.
This achievement unlocks upon beating the boss at the end of the third and final main Battlefield, In The Name of Elai. This mission is longer than the others, but it's very sectioned off, making it pretty easy to have isolated fights with the bigger enemies, of which there are many. There are also a whopping ten Marking Flags in this mission. Thankfully, they're all relatively easy to find. The only one that took me a while to spot was the one right above where you spawn. You need to head forward and then jump on top of the cart on the left side of the road, right at the intersection where enemies will shoot at you, and from on top of the cart, double back onto the rooftops to reach a Marking Flag overlooking the starting spawn. The other Marking Flags are placed in easy to spot locations, either in buildings, on rooftops, or tucked in corners. Just remember to shoot each oil pot with a turret to destroy the wall behind it.
Speaking of oil pots, there are two spots in this mission perfectly set up with three enemies patrolling a single oil pot for you to unlock Beware of Fire! (15G). Refer to that achievement for more information, but might as well take care of it while you're here.
Also in this mission is another Shitieshou. You'll encounter a new type of spider-like enemy partway through the level. After beating it, right as you enter the next area, on the right side will be some bamboo you can cut through to reach this one.
As for the boss of this level, as noted in the roadmap, he is extremely difficult. In my opinion, at least as hard as Lu Bu from the base game. He can take off into the air making him impossible to really hit, and his attacks can be brutal if you miss a deflection. Poison is probably most effective against him. It will stun him with poison stacks, and poison also negates his annoying tornado attacks entirely. Earth is also pretty good against him. Unfortunately, Reinforcements are entirely useless in this fight, so don't bother bringing any extra. They just die within seconds. As for attacking, the only time I safely attacked was after deflecting a critical blow or after deflecting one of his ground smash attacks. Other than that, you'll want to keep your distance, because his melee attacks are constant and punishing. This fight will be a true test of skill, but persevere and you'll eventually succeed and complete this final mission.
