How to unlock the Über hero achievement in Wolfenstein: The New Order - Definitive Guide
So if you want to do this, make sure to just play on whatever difficulty you want, beat the game, and then replay the last level on Uber using the Chapters menu.
** Update **
According to players, this method still works as of November 2nd, 2022
****** Update 2 ******
Since it has been almost 8 years since this solution was written by me, my solution has never been patched and I'm 99.9% positive they never will patch it. With that said, I'm no longer updating the solution with dates. I appreciate all of you over the last 8 years posting/updating that it still works. I will only update this solution if this were to get patched and not work anymore. Thanks again to all of you achievement hunters and keep hunting!
At first you have to shoot down the two Zeppelins that are flying in the air at two corners outside the fighting-area. When the fight begins quickly go behind the glass-wall and cut a hole in the fence with your laser gun. You'll find your weapons there and some health. Collect all health and armor when you are running around - you'll need it!
You need to get up to the Flaks to shoot down those Zeppelins. To get there try to shoot the General a few times with your lasergun - he then will recharge his shield - this is your chance to run to one of those Flaks. Shoot down the first Zeppelin and repeat the process to get to the other Flak.
Phase 2 is the one that can be the most frustrating but there is one way to make things easier: Double-Rockets!!
Before you get down the hole be sure to collect your weapons and all ammo you can find. Equip both Assault Rifles and switch both to rocket mode (press right on the D-Pad, then Press left on the D-Pad). Be sure that both Rifles are equipeed with rocket ammo and jump down the hole.
As noted by "Craig Buchan" you should also open the wooden boxes to collect some extra health!
The moment you jump down you will see some rocket ammo in front of you - take it. There is another little stash of rocket ammo in the far left corner (up the stairs and then in the far left). Give yourself a few runs to locate those to make your fight easier.
From then on it's all about hitting him always with two rockets at once, then run around a few seconds - then again double rockets (spamming him cosntantly at once with your rockets will not do the Job!!! Shoot - hide a little bit/run away - shoot).
Repeat the process.
I think I needed 8 or 9 good double hits and a few single hits to bring him down.
Try to move around and watch out for the fire - it's hurting badly on that difficulty. There is some health and some armor lying around - take it only when you need it.
There is also a simple way that worked for me: After collecting the rocket ammo run to the stairs and over the walkway in front of you- when you reach the other end of the walkway turn right and hide in the gap between the walkway and the wall. When you are hiding there in a good position the boss will not be able to hit you. You can then fire at his feet until he goes down. Give it a try - I can confirm that this works - did it on another Über-Run.
(credits for this way go to NeXuS23 who wrote this in his solution for the 360 Version!)
I hope I can save you some time with this guide. Good luck!
If you vote negatively please tell my why. Thx!
PS: I replayed only the last chapter to get both achievements for Über and I am Death Incarnate Difficulties. As reported by other Gamers this is still working!
Dr.Schmock posted this videoin the comments showing that the stairs also work on the opposite side:
Here is another way with a Video guide from ZasterModa123:
I completed this myself yesterday and the cheevy popped for both Uber and I am Death Incarnate mode.
If you plan on 100% completing the game then collect all the enigma codes, crack enigma code one (the code is as follows):
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09
08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01 09
Once you've entered this you'll unlock "999" mode. This allows you to play through the game with a starting health of 999. The difficulty for 999 mode is coincidentally the Uber difficulty. If you hit too low a health to continue in part of the game, no worries, reload the latest checkpoint and start with 999 health again. Also this mode will give you unlimited ammo so there's no need to worry about ammo either.
The game on 999 mode will probably take you a few more hours but some may find it a lot easier to play through it on 999 mode, rather than frustrating themselves with a level that arguably has quite a few difficult bits to it.
Hope this helps!
Please bear in mind that you have to complete the whole level again, this could be quite frustrating if you are not used to the difficulty. It took me about 45mins to complete the whole level using this method.
Here are some tips:
LKW - Use this most the time if not all the time. Once fully upgraded this is a serious tool and will kill anything in one shot (except machines)
Keep in mind that you can wait for the battery to recharge or find a power up point. (plenty of them around)
Let the enemies come to you. Doesn't matter where you hide, they will always come running. This is a very handy way to clear rooms with multiple heavies.
As for the boss, the above methods work very well. I found hiding under the stairs when you jump down was the easiest, i did this on my first attempt. Simply unload the rockets and grenades then kill the Nazi bastard!.
Enjoy!
Below is a video of the second phase of the battle from Upload Video. I doubt it will help anyone but maybe the grenades and rockets (assault rifle mod) might be helpful. Biggest tip - DON'T aim down your sights, shoot from the hip as it's easier to see him.
There are two options to get this.
1. The most obvious option: Finish the entire game on ÜBER difficulty.
2. After finishing the game on a lower difficulty go to chapter select and pick the last chapter, chapter 16 and choose to play it on ÜBER difficulty.
*Yes. Unlike lower difficulties you can be finished in 3 or 4 shots easily so be very cautious with that.
*Play the game thoroughly first! What I mean by that: Find all of the available LKW (that laser weapon) upgrades. Even on Über the weapon is powerful enough to kill even bigger robots and those heavy guards in no time and with all upgrades you also unlock a scope which seeks out the targets. There are PLENTY of charging points in the final level to be found to recharge both the LKW and laser rifle with. (The one you got visiting space)
*The first hall area is a cake walk compared to the other ones. The first enemy showing up is a dog which is toast in seconds. Walk straight ahead into the office door, which confuses the enemies and huddles them all up in one spot (while you walk to your right) making them easier to kill. By the end there will be a robot which should be no problem when aimed at the eye several times. There will be some enemies left but if you walk to the next round hall at the end a save spot is activated and when you walk back, everybody is gone and all items are for grabs.
*The second hall area is a bit easier. You can go all in Rambo and be killed in mere seconds, or, you use the LKW, and kill most soldiers including the heavy guards by not walking through the door, shoot and walk back to recharge.
They carry around these big gattling gun like weapons running on the same power as the LKW and the laser guns. (grey white, you got it after going to space)
With this puppy in your possession you can walk to the third hall.
*The third hall is by far the hardest of all three halls. It has a bizarre amount of soldiers waiting for you (think some COD games on Veteran) including those shotgun soldiers (with these orange thingies on their shoulders shooting bouncing shotgun pallets) a robot, some heavy gunners and a rare super armoured soldier (tan armour) and they are a bit smarter so they can attack from two sides.
Unlike the first area: BE VERY SURE YOU KILLED EVERY SOLDIER. The biggest disappointment is that you think you are scot-free and be killed by one lousy soldier, because at the end you have one of those moments where you have to press X and hold it so the shutter is fully raised for you to pass under.
*A small scene will take place and after a short QTE sequence (Press X to stab Bubi in the head) and a scene where you meet Anya and the others you will get the first boss sequence.
*Whoever you choose to save back in chapter 1 does not really matter here. Saving Fergus gives you more health upgrades (find the safes and hotwire to unlock them), Wyatt does the same except for more armour upgrades. Be sure you saved enough grenades, because this fight can take an hour or 30 seconds.
When you can, open the door and run like hell to cover. You have super low health ( I had somewhere in the 50 to 20 range) and these wicked thunderbolts kill you in no time.
Run like hell to get some cover, stay as close to the robot as possible and throw one grenade. It stuns the robot (with either Fergus' or Wyatt's brain in there) and you have a split second to remove the brain.
*General Deathshead will show up in his robot armour. This is the trickiest part. I was low on health in the 20 range with no armour. Get the LKW and hide behind the glass screen, cut a hole in the fence and you should find plenty of grenades, health, armour and ammo. Only go for some of the health and grenades. Be careful for DH's thunderbolts and laser shots. You can somewhat hide behind the iron plates from laser shots but not for long as DH will shoot them to pieces. The art of this part of the fight is stunning DH enough times so you can reach the cannons at both sides of the arena so use grenades to do so.
At both sides two heavy cannons stand to shoot down the zeppelins giving DH his "force field". Shoot down both zeppelins, take the LKW and shoot to "overload" DH's force field til it explodes and he flees into some underground lair.
*Stack up on items around the arena! All the crates have grenades, health, armour and ammo. (One crate has rocket ammo, which was scarce in this chapter) Make sure everything is set to max. (machine guns to fire rocket ammo, the LKW to fire laser beams instead of laser cutting position)
When you are ready, jump down the hole. At the foot of the first right beam you see is another set of 4 rockets. First things first: If you played the Xbox 360 version around launch, you can find videos on Youtube showing you DH can be killed in like 20 seconds spamming rockets and grenades: Nope. On this and the Xbox One version they patched that. Where DH caught all damage at once in the Xbox 360 version, in this version he receives damage with some interval between shots. So again: Spamming rockets and grenades like an idiot is pretty useless here.
Run around him. There should be plenty of ammo and health kits around this arena to help you stay alive. Whatever you do: Do not hide behind a beam (Xbox 360 strategy) or be suckered into running to the stairs on the right. They were bit of a death trap to me because in all my nervousness I could get stuck underneath the stairs and be killed in seconds. Use rockets and grenades at a slow pace, and combine with the LKW for the final steps. Be careful in the final phase though. DH does some stumbling but is still ready to fight. When he really tumbles over and starts moaning you have defeated DH. A movie will play and you have finished your Über playthrough, one level or the entire game.
If you leave a thumbs down, tell me why and I can correct it! Will help me, and mostly other gamers!
Second, during the level you can use a lot the LKW, this thing do a lot of damage to the big enemies, and save the rockets for the final boss.
Third, for the final boss I put my video, so you can see how to pass him in an easy way, in the second part, you must be behind the stairs so you cant be hit by him
Here is a new solution, and in my opinion a better one, it is not faster, but it's much easier to handle (not sure if anyone has mentioned this). If you just save this achievement and the Super Hero achievement for last on your list to collect. You can replay the entire game on 999 mode and it makes it so much easier. It feels like playing the game on the easiest difficulty again. On 999 mode, you start with 999 health, unlimited ammo, on Uber mode, and ALL YOUR PERKS as well as all your weapon upgrades (rockets on assault rifles, super powerful laser, etc) if you completed them BEFORE playing your second run through! I literally just attempted the game last night and finished it moments ago in around 5 to 6 hours total run through on Uber via 999 mode. Again, COMPLETE ALL PERKS BEFORE STARTING YOUR SECOND PLAY THROUGH! Because on 999 mode, Perks do NOT progress. So having those completed first makes the solution below work for you.
Solution:
So I suggest just play the game on the easiest difficulty (first play through), complete all your assorted perks for each achievement/branch, and then start a New Game (second play through) on the Bonus Mode "999". When you play the first level, the moment you pick up a weapon that is related to the perks, you have the perks, so faster crouching, quicker reloads, decrease enemy explosive damage, etc. But the game gets even easier on Chapter 2 because you get the assault rifle with rocket launchers plus akimbo! I just ran through most levels either throwing unlimited knives (for when commanders are near) or rockets on everything. The big mechs, if you hit them directly with both rockets, go down in 3 to 4 hits, and the heavier guys go down in one or two! Plus checkpoints are very nice, so as your health drops (and it will start decreasing on its own without damage) you can just die and start at the last checkpoint.
Final boss fight (another reason):
To me this is a much better solution because the last level on Uber is just a nightmare (especially the final boss). I beat the final boss while just getting hit constantly (but avoiding the EMP blast) on his first stage (where you shot down the blimps) and then on the second stage (the small room) just die. Started at the check point that is right at the start of stage two boss fight and just don't let go of the trigger for the laser gun. As long as you DONT SCOPE the laser, it will fire non-stop without the need to recharge! If you scope the laser it will deplete in two shots. He went down in less than 30 seconds doing this method.
I hope this helps because I was dreading doing this and Super Hero achievement.
So all you have to do is do this last level on UBER, there are a few tricky bits but overall it isn't too hard. The hardest bit is the final boss but if you follow the video guide below you'll be able to do it pretty easily. I did it on my 2nd try following the guide below. Just be careful where you fire your grenade laucher, only shoot him in the face and only when he's not guarding and you should be able to do it easily. Throw the odd grenade here and there as well to get the job done. If you need any help let me know. Cheers.
If they patch the above, currently chapter select the final and complete the entire chapter on uber difficulty works.
If they patch that or its too hard then starting a new game on 999 bonus mode works and having unlimited ammo and respawning after death with 999 health makes it easier than the normal game on the easiest setting and unlocks the trophy (its also fun with double weapons and laying down unlimited fire)
If you need help on how to defeat a boss I think I used the below walkthrough I just used the PS4 search engine which does the job beautifully. http://www.primagames.com/games/wolfenstein-new-order/covera...
Is there another trick to it?
Note: I don’t remember for I haven’t played this game in a while if entering this game mode erases the game progress you currently have so I suggest you get this achievement last
ÜBER is this game's highest difficulty level, it's not overly difficult but it does have its fair share of problem areas. With that said, the same methods that help with other First-Person Shooters holds true here as well. If you choose to play the game legit and wish to survive ÜBER make sure you follow these tips:
- Take cover and if you can keep your distance! Obviously cover is very important and you should use it all the time but beware of wooden cover because it has a habit of being destroyed. Use to lean out of cover to pick enemies off. Distance is also very important in this game. The enemies' aim gets progressively worse the farther away you get from them. Use this to your advantage.
- Stealth, stealth, stealth! Using the stealth approach whenever available will make your life much easier. Use the stealthy approach anytime you can, I cannot stress this enough.
- No need to rush and retreating is your friend. This game does not have infinite enemy spawn points so there is no need to rush to the next checkpoint. If you find yourself a nice piece of cover then stay there until the enemies push up to you and if your nice cover point is ruined, you can always run back to previous locations to regroup and heal. A bonus you get for running away is once you return to the area you fled, some enemies like to group up as if they were standing at an invisible barrier and make good grenade fodder.
- Some times rushing is good! Occasionally you will find yourself in a huge fight that can be skipped by running to the next door, checkpoint, cutscene, even the end of the level. If you find yourself bogged down at a checkpoint for too long give running past all the enemies the old college try.
- I know this sounds obvious but aim for the head. Quick kills on regular soldiers are critical and the head is the weak point on most if not all enemies.
- Use your grenades. The grenades in this game are pretty good but with that said, since there is no way to "cook" your grenades it's best to use them offensively as they won't save you in a jam.
Exploit Users: As mentioned in the Roadmap, you can use an exploit that lets you forgo playing the entire game on ÜBER. Using this exploit you can beat the game on very easy then use Chapter Select to only beat the final Chapter on ÜBER to unlock this trophy. Yes, all of your perks and upgrades carry over. Directions on how to use the exploit are below.
- Complete the game on very easy (or any difficulty you prefer)
- After the credits you'll return to the main menu
- From the main menu choose "Chapters"
- Now select Chapter 16
- Choose ÜBER as the difficulty
- Complete the final Chapter and let the credits roll.
- Done
You can discuss this exploit here: LINK
If you used the exploit then the final Chapter and especially the final boss may be extremely frustrating for you, because you don't have experience of completing the previous 15 Chapters on ÜBER. You may feel a bit shell shocked, you can't take nearly as much damage as before and some enemies are nearly 3x as strong as they are on the lowest difficulty.
Use my above listed ÜBER tips to get through the Chapter. Below I've posted two videos; one showing you a way to complete the final Chapter quickly and relatively easy and a video showing how to quickly defeat the final boss on ÜBER.
Once you know what to do the final Chapter is surprisingly short. You can sprint past the first fight. Once outside you can pick off the enemies one by one with the LKW. Finally, from the doorway, you can use the laser MG-60 dropped by super-soldiers to clear out the final room one by one. Retreat to refill your gun when low. The super-soldiers and robots will not follow you outside, they cannot advance from the hallway so they are easy to pick off but beware that regular and shotgun soldiers will follow you so watch your back. At the end, saving your friend is simple as you just have to throw two grenades at him then follow the prompt:
There are two phases to the boss fight. The 1st phase is simple. Shoot or throw grenades at the boss to immobilize him as you make your way up to the cannons. In the 2nd phase make sure you keep moving/strafing as you shoot him in the face, preferably with rockets. Use grenades to stun him:
The ÜBER difficulty is the game's hardest difficulty setting to experience; however, due to the unintelligent AI, overpowered weapons, and surplus of ammo throughout each and every Chapter, you will find that ÜBER is nearly the equivalent to playing the game on a default, medium difficulty setting.
In total, there are 16 Chapters you must complete in order to achieve full Campaign completion. Each Chapter can be tackled in one of two play styles: guns blazing or stealthy. You will tend to find that many of the Chapters are easier to complete with a silent approach. Thus, using silenced handguns, silent takedowns, and throwing knives will help you clear rooms quickly and quietly. Conversely, if you wish to kill everyone in your path with loud assault rifles and booming explosions, there's nothing stopping you from causing extreme chaos towards the Nazi opposition.
Whichever way you choose to tackle the Campaign, just make note of a few tips:
- Throwing knives can be picked up after thrown.
- Killing commanders while undetected reveals more of the map and prevents reinforcements from being called in.
- Since the AI is very unintelligent, you will rarely get caught when sneaking around, even if a guard is two feet ahead of you, staring right into your soul or standing right next to his dead comrade.
- Dual-wielding increases damage output, but severely reduces your accuracy.
- Use the "lean" feature to your advantage when taking on enemies from behind cover.
Additionally, be sure to utilize the following links for tips, discussions, and mini guides regarding the Über difficulty and the final boss battle of the game.
Overall, completing the entire Campaign on ÜBER won't be that hard. You will obviously be changing up your play style from time to time, but since you are never restricted to only one play style, completing each Chapter thoroughly will be a treat. Some of the game's boss-type fights might be a burden, but with enough persistence, the final Chapter will be right around the corner. Once you complete Chapter 16, the achievement will unlock!
Exploit Note: If you started off the game on a lower difficulty other than Über, there is still another beneficial glitch. Simply play the entire game on any low difficulty (i.e. Can I Play, Daddy?) and complete the Campaign. Then, choose to replay Chapter 16 through the Main Menu on Über. Now all you need to do is complete Chapter 16 on this difficulty and when the credits have conclude, the two higher difficulty-related campaign completion achievements should unlock. Thanks to Revolver for this confirmation!

Personally, I played through the game twice, the first time on medium difficulty, collecting everything I could plus getting perks. so that all this is preserved during the second playthrough of the game on "Uber", start a new game NOT THROUGH NEW GAME through, but through CHAPTER SELECTION, this will greatly facilitate the passage.
The whole difficulty of Uber lies in taking high damage from enemies. Therefore, always try to take armor and extra lives.
It’s not a good idea to use two weapons at once, the ammunition is used up too quickly.
Of course, use cover, running towards the razhon will not bring success, the enemies often take you in numbers.
If you go through the game for the second time, you already know approximately the location of the enemies and when there will be major shootouts. Save grenades and rockets from the machine gun for large shootouts with large enemies; as a rule, large enemies die after two or three rockets.
Many places can be passed without engaging in battle, using stealth. Enemies sometimes don’t even notice you and it’s easy to go through in stealth.
Many shootouts can even be done by simply running through them.
My little advice: Before running to the guns, shoot the general with the Laserkraftwerk until he starts charging.. In front of the room with the fire, collect everything you can. I found an easy way: first you throw grenades and underbarrel rockets at the general. You can pick up 4 more rockets behind the far wall. Now comes the interesting part. The fire should already be burning. I ran under the bridge and ran back and forth under it. The general cannot actually inflict damage. Look at his guns and run in the other direction. I had enough of a shotgun, a little sniper rifle and, of course, a machine gun.
